What a piece! I saw Balbastre’s name briefly mentioned as being a famous organist of the time so looked his music up, but never expected it to be this good! He clearly had a lot of the same influences that Bach had, they both certainly knew Vivaldi very well, because the Vivaldi-an influences in the second movement here are so clear. This is a wonderful mix of the typically French and the typically Italian with little snippets of the Galant sound added in. Very very nice
