Right on. This was actually my first Trance CD ever way back in 2003.

i cant remember a period in trance when people said that the current style of music is too far away from "the roots" and saying the previous decade of trance music was much better :D

When I was a younger and thinner man, I would run for miles and listen to this CD. It was all combined into one track, so I couldn't skip ahead. Kinda neat - sweating mile after mile, listening to the mix as PVD intended. Still love it to death.
+Joshua Evans I started Ultra running 2 years ago and this album is a stable in the hardest moments. Whether that be a long run or a race this tune always makes me push harder.

Every DJ tries to do that when creating an album of Trance. Only thing is, Paul van Dyk was the best at it. Out There and Back album proves it. You're very right for picking up on that.

True! I saw him in 2001 at TWILO in NYC when was still spinning vinyl - great times. To me everything he did up to this release was GOLD and amazing. Out There And Back is a masterpiece. I've been spinning Politics (this first one) in the car on non-stop the last few weeks. Amazing, amazing!

24 years ago onwards to the next 4-5 years ,I used this CD to forget all the betrayals that I faced .
20 years later in the middle of covid pandemic. This is my all time favourite album to brighten up the dark days. Those were... the best of days!
Been bouncing between PVD, Tiesto, George Acosta and Aly & Fila extra heavy these past few months. Well, as far as trance goes anyway. Breakbeats is my other genre of choice.

Way way ahead of its time
These are the best trance albums ever disc 1 and 2. When trance was at it's best, all about the flange on the synths and delicate melodies with driving bass lines

i give all my exams while playing this album in my mind. Love & Respect from India. I miss radio 538 dance department. The good old days. I had to climb roof top with my Nokia mobile just to get a glipse of him with GPRS connection.
The early 2000's were a rip in the space-time continuum. the quality and simple complexity of the music back then was much more sophisticated, energetic and melodic than the stuff we have these days. This album is a testament to a time when all that mattered was the Muzik and the hypnosis it cast on those who had the privilege of listening to the true Gods of trance!

Memories of my mid twenties in NYC going to Hammerstein’s Ballroom then seeing PVD again at the closing summer bash in Central Park was beyond an experience. Then out of the blue I happened to be at Cafe del Mar in Ibiza 5 yrs ago watching the sunset when he came on and started spinning!! This is my all time favourite album!!

This is by far the best Trance mix compilation you will ever hear. The mixing is flawless, the tune selection is as good as there’s been and as for that mix into 4Strings - into the night...wow, hairs on the back of my neck! Timeless.

I remember having this on Winamp as a single track and listening in the background while I studied statistics + economics through my 4 years in undergrad. For some reason this CD helped me focus with any numerical related studies.
One of the best mixes ever. So smooth. That is why prog trance or any prog is much more fun to mix over long periods of time

I took a gap year to New Zealand and Asia back in 2002 and listened the shit out of this. Such a formative period of life and music like this really influenced it - makes one dream.

That transition from Vegas into the Southern Comfort track is so damn seamless, and long, it's as if the Southern Comfort track is not on the album!

am i right in saying that the politics of dancing series and tour were fully remixed by paul van dyk, and that every track on the series of cd's actually wasn't available to buy making it thee most exclusive collection of electronic music ever compiled on a cd , the guy is a genius , he was a clear cut above all the other dis in the mix mag top 100 for me as he was a million miles infront of the others but they didn't realise it , i saw him at passion in the midlands back in the early 2000's 4 room link up blew me away .. the greatest
