- THE BATTLE to save Costa Coffee for the Exeter blaze has been revealed by Firefighters.
Four hoses were used and can be seen heading through the main shop front and to the back of the store where the blaze has ripped apart the staffroom and back rooms.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service area manager Neil Blackburn said: "The hoses were charged with water as the firefighters were dragging them through to stop this fire spreading.
"What you can see is basically the floor next door has completely collapsed and the structure of the building that we are dealing including lead and plaster which is really difficult to extinguish.
"You can see how difficult it is for our crews to get into this building but crews did a fantastic job in this building with their fire and breathing apparatus and pulled all of the plasterboard and chipboard off of a wall in the staffroom because they knew the fire was behind it.
"They had to make holes fight the fire and rip it down all wearing breathing apparatus and handing the hose in a very very difficult and as you can see, very dangerous situation."

@BlueFireAndSecurity. when a fire alarm they do it every so often, my pyronix does it.
Maybe it’s a CQR SO/INT/2 HI-LO or a Honeywell SP20ST internal sounder or an old bell box. They are the only UK alarms I can think of that sound like that

@@paultrilly6488 no the reason this building is on fire is because of the royal Clarence hotel fire. Since the royal Clarence is right behind costa and Laura Ashley. There was so much damage to Costa surprisingly not as much to LA

I’m confused why is the fire alarm still sounding?
It Has a backup battery, the sounders are also battery backup powered as well so that’s why they are sounding still
If they weren’t battery powered they would of died due to the loss of power when the fire burnt up the fuse box)
It was still going off because there was still a danger of fire. The firefighters had only just finished dealing with the main part of the fire and they'd gone inside to look for hidden pockets of fire leftover from it, and they found one, which is why they were pulling down all that chipboard.

yeh i believe a female entrepreneur bought it it must of costa fortune to repair was the video shown before or after the fire? bet they didn't have to roast coffee for months, i only like there hot chocolates to be fair but thats just my choice
