- Probably the single most common issue on the Saab B284 2.8L Turbo V6 engine. Heat cooks everything in these engine bays including the ignition coils.
Plugs gapped to 0.85mm. Use NGK LFR7AIX or LFR6AIX for a heat range colder.
14:35 O-rings can be found on esaabparts.com or source a 1/2" OD, 3/8" ID o-ring. Fairly sure I was able to use a few from the Viton o-ring kit from Harbor Freight.

Most detailed video I've seen on this, excellent and full of lolz. I feel a lot less intimidated about this now. Cheers!
Love your vids, just one thing spark plugs should be removed when the engine is cold, if it is hot you risk stripping the threads ;)
I'm so happy I have a 2.0T, at least in this regard.
I promise this is an easy job. People freak out about it for no reason. It just requires more than 2 twitching neurons to do it without breaking things.
@@KenCarTechMeow Not saying it's hard, just a lot more tedious than the 4-cyl.
I've dropped my fuel tank 4 times now to fix a faulty fuel level sensor, still not working. But I can remove the tank in my sleep. But I wished the 9-3 had the same as the 9-5.
It's the World Showcase of coil packs.
Gap them to .80. The coils last longer. Get a real gapping tool. Also dump the Bosch and use the US made Standard Ignition Blue Streak coils.
I have a real gapping tool in my pants.
@@KenCarTechMeow I am sure the gnats are terrified of it too!
Great video. Very timely for me.
Awesome thanks
This video helped me sooo much I replaced all my ignition coils and spark plugs thank god my vacuums lines weren’t brittle cause it was a b**** replacing everything took me like 3 1/2 hour but if it wasn’t for this video I would still be getting -100 hp so thanks 🙏
Thank for mentioning the sensor that is open.
I have this same car looks like I’m gonna have LOTS of fun tomorrow replacing coil packs praying to bejesus I don’t break anything....... but at least I’ll be able to actually hit the gas and not go to turtle mode haha
You'll almost certainly break the vac lines back there. Just mentally prepare yourself to buy new ones.
This was like watching the Blair witch project. I threw up twice. J/k the only vid I’ve seen that shows all the connections back there. This is my next project. Currently installing a new radiator. You done one of those?
Im going to do mine soon, and want to just replace the vacuum line you mentioned that cracks. Do you have the pn from eSaab? Looking at the diagrams there seems to be quite a few choices!
Great video. Make a video how to service the xwd
That's planned along with dropping the fuel tank for the stupid level sensor.
What’s the firing order? I have a misfire in cylinder 6
Luv you Bro!!! You fun !!!
I love that you hate the TL.....I would have said the same thing at the same time!
This new ngk comes with 0.7mm gap, is this not enough?
What is the part number or name of the 2 o-rings that you should replace? maybe also what the vac line pn# is or is called.
pro tip....always spin plugs or any nut or bolt in reverse slowly till you feel it "seat". this way you will never cross thread.
Great tutorial complete with humor & sarcasm. One question where did the 24karat heat wrap come from on the vacuum lines? I must have it!!😂
Legit think he got that on ebay.
You should have swapped the aftermarket coil to the front bank in case it goes bad, then it will be a lot easier to replace it.
I feel mildly autistic for not thinking of that. Good call.
Did the coils end up fine?
Hey all i did this myself to as was getting a multi misfire didn't work so changed the cam shaft sensors still have the problem if I let it idle but if I keep it over 1200 rpm it's seams to be kinda ok any idears could it be a vacuum leak or so yous know of anything else any help would be good
The important thing is that he is having pestering the guy doing the actual work.
I must teach the children how to replace parts while going REEEEEEEEE.
Wow...... Never knew "Bruce the performance artist" made Saab videos on his days off.... Lol
Ps......No dielectric grease????
Does anyone know if these saab engines are the same engine my 2.8 turbo Cadillac SRX has
Yes. They're essentially the same engine. The SRX's turbo is closer in spec to the last generation Saab 9-5 if I remember correctly. For coils and plugs this video should be close enough for your SRX.
@@KenCarTechMeow thank you 👍
How cold or a part number for 2 rings ?
Check the video description.
Do you know the weight of this 2,8t engines complete with the gearbox and all the extarnals like alternator and so on...?
I do not.
@@KenCarTechMeow Any guessing?
what is the name of the vaccum line that you said to be very careful with?
Literally all of them. Stupid hard plastic and hit engines dont mix. Esaabparts dot com for replacements.
How durable is this engines, out of your experience?
Have you any experience about tuning this engines?
Extremely durable. Google "VTuner Saab".
@@KenCarTechMeow How is it about this cars...
Is the front suspension and the engine/gearbox mounted to one and same crossmember so you can unbolt it all from the car and lower it out of the car in one piece?
I ask because I'm thinking about to build myselfe a kitcar with mid engine and use it all engine and suspension into the kitcar...
@@TerjeNormann 95% certain I've seen people drop the complete subframe like that, yes. Remember there's a FWD and an AWD "XWD" version. Different subframes and transmissions and other small things between those two.
@@KenCarTechMeow Yes, I know there is a xwd version of this cars as well.
But the kitcar I'm planing have mid/rear engine setup, and the frame of the car is made for to put a fwd engine/suspension into the rear of the car.
Search for K1 Attack.
Did you use any anti-seize?
Did you look and see if anti seize was used?
Hmm... I did not see you use any. From the sound of your voice and all your comments you've written, I can tell you're a POS.
@@AceEquality duh.
That Acura sounds like pure shit.
Next time let motor the heads cools down
No.
