Very Helpful. Mine appears to be leaking from a couple places at the bottom of the unit, so once I confirm that the water isn't trickling down from somewhere else I plan to just replace the unit. This saved me the frustration of finding that out after hours of digging into it. Thanks a bunch!

MikeNeilMinistries Last week, I was grinding chicken bones, but apparently my 2004 vintage “Evergrind” (brand) 6.9 amp 1/2 hp garbage disposal couldn’t take it as it made weird noises. But the noises simmered down. Then a little later, my “Watchdog“ (brand) water alarm went off alerting me that my disposer was leaking. It was leaking at the bottom. I could not find any leaks originating higher up at any of those other areas(connections to dishwasher hose/sewer pipe/sink). So I guess I’m going to have to get a new one, this time one with higher amperage and higher horsepower.
Thanks for this video. My Badger 5 was leaking from the top and the service guy said I needed a whole new garbage disposal. The garbage disposal was only two years old!!

Thanks for the video. The only place you missed is where mine is leaking. What about just below the last one you touched on? Mine is leaking from the lower pipe from the disposal that attaches to the white u-shaped pipe. Any recommendations?
Thanks for checking out the video. My recommendation is to thoroughly inspect the white plumbing pipe to verify there are no cracks. If Pipe is good, I recommend heading to you're local hardware store and purchase Plumbing Pipe Sealant. Ask the sale man at the store and he/she will get you the right product. Then disconnect the two pipes and rub the inside rim of each pipe to apply the sealant.
Mine leaks on the top and Thank You I wish I would’ve seen this long ago. now it’s all rusted and has to be replaced.. now I know what to check for the next time they put one in.

So I just installed a brand new disposal 2 days ago and it is leaking from the upper gasket area, actually it looks more like its leaking from the mounting bracket only on the back side. The gasket itself had more than enough putty to seal it. any suggestions?
Clinton brown Thanks for watching & we hope the video helped. It’s very possible that your mounting brace is slightly loose or offset. We recommend spending a few minutes & removing your disposal completely. Next, verify brace is installed & aligned properly. Reinstall disposal & check for leaks....if it’s still leaking, you may need to redo the putty seal process. Keep us posted! We really enjoy making these helpful videos for our fellow DIY’ers.
