Bob Marley with the Wailers worked with Lee Scratch Perry from 1970 until mid-1971. Albums include Soul Rebel, African Herbsman, and Soul Revolution II. This material has been heavily collected in various releases. If you haven't any, get it all with "The Complete Upsetter Collection~Bob Marley & The Wailers", 6 CDs, 110 tracks. This was before the Black Ark, so recorded by using Scratch's studio time at other producers. By the end of this historic collaboration, all the Wailers were done with Scratch, who admitted he'd sold their masters to Trojan as he could clearly see they would leave and achieve stardom. Not only did they do just that, joining Island Records, they also took Scratch's ace Upsetters rhythm section, Carlton Barrett on drums and Aston Familyman Barret on bass. But Bob always loved Scratch and made a return trip or two to see Lee at the Black Ark. He recorded a couple classics like Rainbow Country and Who Colt The Game, I Know A Place. Bob and Scratch wrote Jah Live for the Rastaman Vibration album in 1975 as a response to the death of Haile Selassie I. Scratch continued to make versions of these earlier songs while at the Black Ark. After Bob was nearly murdered in 1976, he lived in exile in London with his band (Peter and Bunny long gone). There they recorded both the Exodus and Kaya albums. Scratch was in London and visited the sessions. He wrote and produced Punky Reggae Party for Bob, also producing a new Keep On Moving. Many listeners enjoy this phase of Bob Marley & The Wailers as his best and their favorite.
Awesome awesome info, thank you for taking the time . Have been listening since I was young enough to play my father's CD's. First time I was introduced was a four CD set. Songs of Freedom and I would sit for hours and hours and just play all of them over and over. Have read a few books on Bob and the history of him and the wailers crew etc etc but this is refreshing to hear all of these different facts so thank you again! -Jerry
Bob ALWAYS returned to Scratch for inspiration, too much musical chemistry, apparently Scratch also wrote Dreadlocks in Moonlight for Bob to sing but ended up singing it himself!!
Lee Scratch Perry + Bob Marley is the 1 Dream Team Musical Duo - Of All Time
& The Wailers. I think they were the Wailers here.

Me either 😮😮😮
It’s just so fucking Cool, the way the music feels when it hits you.
And I never felt this way from any other type of music.
It’s so - Unique. One of a Kind and Unmistakable.
It knocked me out when i was a child and first heard , and I always feel the same vibes even now.
It NEVER gets old .
Bob Marley’s music is my favorite of All time .
Reggae that Lee Created and gave to Bob, is My favorite of All time.
Absolutely exquisite.
I know God exists, knowing Reggae was from his people , it just speaks to your soul in such a Humble , Roots Way.
Love it so much .
One thing fans may not know is that Keep On Skanking uses the backing track from Doctor Demand by Leo Graham (which is itself a remix of Black Candle). The Lee Perry compilation Public Jestering contains the two tracks in addition to a number of other Black Candle remixes, although not Keep On Skanking itself. Several years before, The Wailers' had covered Adam And Eve by Leo Graham's band The Bleechers.
🔥greetings

A short paradise
Bunny gave an account of how they almost 'offed' Scratch, because he was a bad cat who robbed them... Have to be thankful for Chris Blackwell, who made Bob a millionaire and helped the family hold on to the Estate when it was in trouble mostly because Bob died intestate...

Wailers. WAILERS.
Lord have mercy on your children
I didn't know that the first fourth tracks we're released in 1974/75 , because in many compilations of Marley's early work , it's says that these songs we're recorded between 1967 and 1972.
You are likely correct. They were well into their Island Records phase by 1974.
🎉
