- At the time that this video was filmed, Ward's Stone (G/SP-003) was the least activated SOTA summit in the South Pennines.
I decided that I was up for a challenge & activated it in the snow in the middle of winter!

The Amateur Radio UK channel is run by UK radio amateur M0GQC (James). As the channel name would suggest, the channel focuses primarily on amateur radio within the UK!!!

James, you deserve a Duke of Edinburgh award for your activations...
Thanks....well done.
Nice activation James, military whip is impressive 10w into NYC fantastic 😀
Real nice activation James! Great to see the area and follow along. 👍📻⚡Cheers!
Good effort James that looked a fair walk in. Nice choice of seat at the summit. Well done on working NA too.

Nice one James.
Nice activation James😊.
Interesting box of radio tricks near the summit there.. class with the solar and wind.
Well done James, some nice contacts on changeable conditions, and the walk up was similar to my walk to school every day hi.
73 mate.
Great video James. Little bit of a trek. Don't think I will be back out on a hill until 27th & 28th Feb. Hopefully be out both day.
Hope to catch you all later.
Motters M7TRS 73 👍🏻
I hope to be out on a hill somewhere on at least one of those two days. It depends if anything else crops up in the meantime.....would be fun to try for a S2S.
I did this one about 12m ago. Very boggy coming up from Jubilee Tower but a very easy activation on VHF with the IC-705 and a fibreglass pole. If you want a nice strenuous walk, have a go at Stony Cove Pike. That nearly killed me the other week. It’s like walking up the side of a triangle.
An activation is an activation! Congratulation! You got yourself a new subscriber here! Hope to catch you on the bands! 73 De HI8ESF!!!!
Thanks, nice to have you on board. We've got quite a friendly little community on this channel.
I have seen those antennas and it might be farmers GPS steer systems assuming agriculture machinery is used in that area.
Nothing wrong with a bit of a walk on a good path. At least you weren't doing a Fraser!! A good vid James, weather a bit better this time.
I may be a little bit mad but I don't think I can compete with Fraser on the nuttiness scale!!!
@@AmateurRadioUK I'm not nutty. I just haven't found my boundaries 🤣
Was that this weekend?
I'm not that quick & efficient at editing videos! It can take me a while to get round to editing & uploading stuff that I've filmed.
This particular activation was filmed on 17th January according to my log upload on the SOTA database.
This is one of two videos which I filmed on my South Pennines trip. The other one was Shining Tor, which I've finished editing but needs to be uploaded & have a thumbnail done for it. That will probably go live in about a week or so.
I don't think I'm giving away any big secrets by admitting that most of my content is around a month old by the time I get round to releasing it on UA-cam (unless it's time critical such as a collaboration with another channel which needs to be released on a specific date).
