- Joel Klatt joins Colin Cowherd to discuss the biggest college football headlines, including more coaching moves and frenzy, from Brent Venables to Mario Cristobal returning to his alma mater. Hear what Klatt has to say about how Venables' defensive mindset will help Oklahoma and Cristobal putting Miami back on the college football map. He then makes his Orange Bowl prediction between No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 Georgia, along with who will win the Heisman Trophy and whether Aidan Hutchinson will gain some votes against Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud and Kenny Pickett.

I could listen to Joel and Colin talk college football for 5 hours. I wish they had their own CFB podcast 😭
Facts! Sucks they only do it once a week but I think it makes it even better since it’s not as frequent
Get a Life !
The one thing Colin actually knows what he’s talking about
totally agree !
Colin would bow down to nick sabin makes me somewhat nauseous
Joel Klatt is one of the most knowledgeable analysts of college football
And actually analysts
You really believe this?
What does it even mean to say that the SEC is top heavy? Compared to whom? There isn't a league where the 12th team is even decent.
@@Meng776 he means it’s too heavy relative to how good the conference is. Meaning there is a massive drop off from the top that is more than the drop off in other conferences
@@robbyzschoche But which conference isn't? It's something that's true about every conference, so why mention it?
@@Meng776 he is refuting the notion that playing the bottom 6 teams in the SEC is hard
Going to miss seeing these 2 for sometime after the season ends
Yah.... can't he talk about the draft or something😨, he knows the college so well, shouldn't he be asked to talk nfl draft? Is FS1 not utilizing him correctly in the college offseason?
@@Kruppt808 pretty sure the nfl still playing games right now so…

Klatt needs his own show
Ideally just a 100% college football dedicated show. I would FOR SURE watch it over a lot of other shows they have/had.
Look up Breaking the Huddle with Joel Klatt. Just a 20 something minute thing each week, but it is his show.
He already owns this show
No because they will burn him out we love him because we get exactly enough you would turn on him if you saw him 4 days a week like we all have turned on Colin 🤣
He already has his own show.
Always love this segment
As a British person living in London I can say Colin’s impression was very painful 😂😂
You should hear Bill Burrs lmao
Lol ..... yes it was painful.
as was his Australian accent.
Absolutely depressing🤮🤮
As a Yank with a British mum, I just want to apologize...We aren't all such savage butchers, of the mother tongue!
Joel is exactly right about Cristobal. Mario recruits to a 10, but coaches to a 7. He can talk the game, but the on field results were not very good.
Yeah, Cristobal seems like a position coach trying to be a head coach. Great at the rah rah and recruiting, not great at the X's and O's and game-planning.
@@thawkxing he really struggled with game planning, in game adjustments and clock management. Critical common errors.
If he nails the coordinator hires, then things will improve on gane day.
Cristobal had Herbert for 4 years 4!! And underutilized him every year especially his senior year until the last 2 games. Recruiting is impressive but hasn’t developed most of that talent besides a couple good to great players
I agree but I think with the former football players from the U around and him being a Miami guy this will improve with suggestions he will actually ahead to hopefully. Our football family still ranks top 5 all time and we haven’t won in 20 years
It’s refreshing to have guys in a sports show that actually know what they are talking about, and don’t just talk BS and troll everybody all the time (Stephen A, Skip Baylee’s) This was a dope conversation.
Lol that 44 records at Colorado will forever be a meme
Joel Klatt is a great insight.
Love hearing him on 1301 The Ticket in Dallas
"Jooooel Klat! Joel Klat!"
Met Joel a few days ago such a humble good man he came into the restaurant I work at and he is such a class act just and overall great guy
This has been said hundreds of times . . but Colin & Joel work great together. Love to see it

9/10 times klatt sticks it to this man but today colin was right. oklahoma is gonna get dismantled in the SEC regardless of their recruiting culture

Georgia/Michigan is a 50/50 game to me. Whichever offense doesn’t make a mistake will win the game. I expect both teams to be under 120 yards rushing so one of the quarterbacks will have to step up. This is one of those games that could come down to a key special teams play or a defensive touchdown.
I think you are spot on. Nice work
As a Michigan fan, totally agree! Two teams with very similar talent levels and styles! Legendary games like these are what college football is all about!
Unfortunatly alabama gave michigan a bit of a blueprint on how to beat georgia's defense. Ohio st and iowa gave yall nothing to study
as a bulldawg fan if stetson starts its 35-65 michigan favor. Stetson has never had the big win in him
Michigan fan here. I predict Georgia wins but it could be close. Could go either way but Georgia is undoubtedly more talented.
Definitely, appreciate the stability Cristobal brought to Oregon, but I'm not exactly sad to see him go...He was a far greater recruiter, than a head coach. The offense was so bad this year, they got booed at multiple home games...None of the 4-5 star QB's were developed, opting for a 5th year senior, who couldn't accurately throw over 20 yards. Arguably, our best receiver transferred before the season was out...He was baffled , they pretty much didn't use the receivers for anything more than sideline passes, and 5 yard slants. I'd say it was the O coordinator, but the offense was subpar during most of his tenure. Hopefully, Miami's location gives them access to higher quality coordinators.
Couldn’t have said it better
Well said. MC left Oregon in a bit of a state. We are now in transition and we need a top level trustworthy coach.
@@UnboxRacing he left Oregon in a better position then he inherited it
@@daa_97 MC can’t even beat Utah and now he thinks he compete in recruiting with the SEC schools around him or beat an SEC school when they have to play them
@@dominiquereyes5600 I'd take that Utah team, since they switched QBs, over any but the top 2 or 3 teams in the SEC this year. But pretty clear the Oregon coaches and team's minds were elsewhere for the CCG, and maybe even the earlier game in SLC.
Watching these guys talk college football is awesome. Klatt has really established himself as one of the very best college football analysts.
I live for this segment
i look forward to this all week
Been waiting since Saturday for this video
Cheerio Klatt!! Lmao collin killing it this year
Love the father and son conversations......on FS1
We need a whole segment on Colin giving his best accent impersonations
Just here for my weekly Klatt fix. The two of them are MUST SEE
I'll say it again -- Venables may not work out, but as an OU fan, I would much rather risk it on him than stick with Lincoln Riley KNOWING we will not be able to stop anyone in the SEC.
Do you think that he dipped to USC due to Oklahomas move to the SEC?
@@FriendlyBatDoom he had to move to USC, he couldn't risk his stock falling any further. What has he done when his QB isn't top 3 in the heisman race? OU would have gotten rid of him after 3 years in the SEC for not winning 10+ games every year like coach O at LSU
@@FriendlyBatDoom I think so, as far as recruiting goes. But still, he has to stop California guys from going South
@@JsPerspective he already is
@@FriendlyBatDoom I actually believe that he just wanted to try something different at USC and build his own legacy. As an OU fan I'm not even mad that he left because I think we will have a higher ceiling with Venables even if we are not as consistent. Good for him if he does well but really I won't be paying that much attention
Literally the best segment in sports. These two are hilarious together 🤣🤣
Love Joel klatt so much knowledge
Joel Klatt can do a show breaking down Ping Pong 🏓 and I still watch it 😆
This is GOLD 🪙
My favorite time of the day (of the week). My football IQ just went up by few digits. Lol

I think it's nice that oklahoma finally gave a lifelong assistant a chance. I'd say it's a roll of the dice but, you know......"history".
OU, Florida and LSU made a good hire. USC and Miami made a great hire.
The accent segment was fantastic :)
WTH is with the crazy perspective on that set? Klatt looks like he's 3 foot tall and Cowherd looks like some kind of giant.
As a Texas fan I appreciate papa Joel throwing strays at A&M because lord knows we can't rn

Just excited to hear Kentucky in this discussion
Venables will bring a toughness to Oklahoma, Cristobal needs 4 recruitng classes maybe 5.
Ive said it all year, Michigan is the most balanced team in College football....They could go all the way
They're gonna go all the way it's gonna be close but they'll do it they believe in each other's abilities
They are going to have to throw the ball alot to beat georgia.

Venables will be the best hire of the season. Thank you USC
OU fans deserve to be hopeful, but relax. Appreciate what Linc did for you guys. That is all I ask.
@@ifheavenwashuman maybe one day. But as of rn he left in the middle of the night after not having the focus on the team for most of the season. And Roy manning cheated, he recruited for usc while staffed at OU Lincoln clearly knew about it snd USC still hired him. Should not have been allowed.

As an Alabama fan, I certainly hope you're right. Tired of embarrassing Kirby.

Great way to end the regular season, ik klatt will probably be back a couple more times in early January but that’ll be it.
Kinda agree with Colin’s take for the first time ever regarding the Brent V Oklahoma coaching job. Great coordinator but not sure if he’ll be able to succeed in the SEC
Klatt also claims their record against the sec is pretty good while ignoring that they’ve gotten steamrolled the last two times they played an sec team in the playoffs
With one of the best young offensive minds in the game, Lincoln Riley, they couldn’t beat Baylor or Oklahoma state and only won 10 games in the Big-12 when they were overwhelming favorites to make the CFP. Look how Clemson played this year without a star QB and 3 first round picks on the d-line. If Oklahoma can give up 40 points to Big-12 teams, I can’t only imagine how many points Saben, Kiffen, and Arkansas’ coach will give ‘em. I won’t even put Kirby Smart in there because they’re not known for offense but they still might pile 45 on them. So please think again sir
@@bluealvey also, if he’s been such a phenomenal coach for 30 years, why doesn’t he have ANY coaching experience. Lifetime record as a head coach in 30 years: 0-0

Anybody who watched Tennessee this year knows this guy hasn't watched them play. They were exciting and led in every game they played in this year.
I’m curious and I truly don’t know but how many national title games did Venables go to at Clemson prior to Trevor Lawrence? Can’t we look at Clemson before and after. I’m just saying the SEC is different. It’s a war every week.
Went 1-1 with Watson as QB, against Bama.
That felt short…..
I watched JT Daniels quite a bit at USC and if Georgia makes the decision to play him they might as well forfeit the game, then and there.
It’s almost like USC jt Daniels and UGA jt Daniels are different qbs

Never gonna happen, but it's nice to dream. Alabama 41 Michigan 27 in the natty. Roll Tide Roll!
Well since the 2 SEC teams in the playoff are way better than anyone else in CFB, there's no chance of Cincy winning. It will most definitely be Bama and Georgia. I say Georgia wins 31-24
Lew Nichols lll from Central Michigan the nations leading rusher should at least be invited to the heisman popularity show.
Y'all remember when Colin said Saban's dynasty was over years ago.
Klat daddy 💯
Brent Venables could be the next Bob Stoops… but he could also be the next John Blake.
“The southern accent is like molasses just sorta spilling out of your mouth.” Andy, The Office.
It must be a pain recruiting any Florida team. You have Florida, Florida St, Miami, Bama and Georgia all poaching.
And actually I'm going to add to that statement. A lot of colleges in Georgia Alabama and Florida are moving up like UAB is moving up from Conference USA to the ACC and then you've got some colleges moving up from FBS to conference usa. What that means is more exposure and more exposure means more chances to actually either get drafted or have a better opportunity in a growing football program.
I know Colin be running up to Joel yelling “daddy daddy daddy”
I know any time I see klatt on the herd the next 15 minutes of my life are going to be great. And I hardly even watch cowherd anymore
Gattis needs to call a perfect game just like he did against Osu.
Gattis has been on all season. His offense is averaging 37.8 points per game and leads the nation in plays of over 50, 60 and 70 yards.
I mimmick the way people talk it makes them feel more comfortable

Michigan is the most balanced team in the country! Go Blue!
Not a balanced team
They might be the fastest too 😎
@@JsPerspective what do you take away to tight ends that can block and catch . 3 running backs who can run the Rock and catch. O line rated one of the best in the country. The wide receivers are underrated. Wilson and Johnson have gotten open all yr long. Then you have your gadget plays and gadget specialists AJ Henning. Jake Moody. Best fg kicker in the Big Ten if not top ten In the country. Not to mention those defensive ends who have the most sacks as a duel in the country. Linebackers I'll say is Michigan weaknesses especially in coverage. Against the their avg at best. Ross does make a play or two. But the rest of them aren't as consistent. The secondary isn't to bad . Gray has been stepping up. Dax hill has been decent. His run stop support as improved a lot. So I do agree with the balance it's very hard to game plan against Michigan. What do u or who do u take away. On both sides of the ball. The one thing the defense has struggled with is uptempo. And if u are consistent running the ball u can find success. The problem is Michigan be in the lead or up big most of the yr. So teams give up on the Run. And go pass happy. That's what killed osu. Once they got down 15 points they went pass pass pass. Treveyon Henderson had about 77 yards before they give up on it. That played right into Michigan's hands. Kept everything in front of them. And made OSU go the long way. That's y u had that 16 play drive. Once I saw that and how much time they took off the clock I said game.
