- The Van Der Hagen Razor Blades didnt get much love on the poll. A number of people have expressed their feelings toward these blades in a previous video I made & most of them were negative. In this video I took on the challenge to see if I can get a crispy beard line up using these blades. Here are my thoughts . . .

I've been using the Van der Hagen razor and blades for about 9 months and only JUST ran out. People say they are expensive and I forget how many came in the starter pack but I think 6?, so I'm saying 6 blades lasting 9 months at $4 is pretty reasonable. I shave almost every day. The reason I bought it is because plastic disposable razors are NOT recyclable and are one of the biggest polluters/consumer waste ever. Even if they WERE recyclable, recycling ain't working. We need to stop buying wasteful products already. The safety razor will last my lifetime. Thank you sir for your video and info! Looking good!
Thank you for posting this video. I learned something new. I always thought the straight razors had to use the strop to sharpen it. I wasn't really interested in that. However, since I see that there are straight razors that can use refills - game on.

I just got the razor itself, seems very nice. Gonna pick up some feather blades in the future once I get used to the technique with the safety razor.
I personally like the Van der Hagen blades. My favorite used to be Voskhod, which I used in the Van der Hagen razor. I recently got a Merkur 39c slant. The Van der Hagen blades outperformed the Voskhod. I was able to get a 3 pass BBS shave with much less effort than the Voskhod. That said, they're much more expensive. If durability is important these might not be your best value.

Dang!! I work at Target and I 100% agree. I bought the set. I like the razor but the blades are only two uses before they tear my head up.
Yet they have no competition in the stores so they're selling. Glad you know of better blades though 💪🏽

Beard looking good man. I have a full beard but I prefer to rock a goatee lol. I used these blades on my face to get all the hair my cheeks and neck area and their actually not that bad. I don't cut myself or hardly ever get razor burns.
I use the Feather blades with 3 or so shaves before I feel the need to change them. I have a Merkur 34C safety razor.
Heard some good things about that razor 👌🏽 average amount of shaves I get outta mine as well 💪🏽

The blades are fine. The problem is the razor. It isn't machined properly and razors can slide around inside the head a tiny bit before you close it. Razor blades are designed to be mounted precisely, and this razor will allow them to be held cock-eyed before closing and cause big problems.
I've used Van Der Hagen blades for a while. For my beard and hair type I don't get "great" life out of them but I am able to get 3-4 shaves. Other like the Bic Platinums for me anyway last about 2-3x longer. Using them in a safety razor.
Van Der Hagen was my first experience to shaving . Didn't have the De razor brought the mug ,bowland soap from my local drug store. later year's brought the butter, cream razor blades. Have no issues. I'm a shave dude ,know how to prepare my skin for a face or head shave and to be honest I don't want a super sharp blade for my head and not saying this is my go to and use all the time this work fine for me
In a shavette straight razor, VDH blades give me no issues. But putting them DE, the go crap fairly quickly.
I would want to try dorca, porsona, faded culture, cut buddy, derby and astra razor blades can you make a review on these please?
New subscriber - I bought ( for the 2nd time ) the Van Der Hagen razor box set, and using the razor and blade provided in the set, I refuse to shave my head because how much damage i do to my face. I am 32 years old, been shaving since i was 14, Full beard at 19 - No Father figure to teach me the correct/best way to shave. I really enjoyed your video, Liked & Sub'd right away. Basically i'm commenting hoping for tips & tricks to aquire a better, cleaner shave.. From either Yourself or other Subscribers.
Nice video!!! Persona Blue Labs all the way. I can shave my head and clean up the neck with my Parker Variant DS razor 3 times with one blade. Maybe more but, I don’t like pushing it. Keep the videos coming man 👊🏼

Problem is they are wack now. I bought some on ebay and the blades had the personna writing all jaggy and those blades was cutting the hell out of my head. I heard these new ones are made by a different company and the quality is poor.

The Vander Hagen blades aren't bad but not good either. I bought my Vander Hagen Safety razor and. Shark super chome blades 2 days after using the Vander hagen blades

People look at other reviews that bash the product and instead of trying it they jump on the band wagon and pile on the bashing. Think for yourself and try the product. The blades work just fine. They might not be feather blades but they do the job.
