Guys, he's joking when he says to throw it away. That's why he emphasized it so much and said it in that way and laughed. In all his videos he gets comments about him "throwing them away". He doesn't though as in some videos you can see him sneak a piece in his mouth and now he explicitly tells you that it goes into the chef's stomach
Probably better for him not to be misleading though because some viewers, including myself, don't watch all of his other videos. And given that there are a number of chefs who are quite notorious for unnecessarily throwing away food, it's a really sad thing for food to be wasted, joke or not.
jackiepenguin Yeah, some chefs do and it is truly sad seeing how so many people are starving and how that truly is good food which could easily be made into something else if the chefs wanted to. Though I do think considering the circumstances the joke made sense. He does say that he doesn't throw it away in newer videos though (he says he eats it and such)
Mominaodiji people are not starving due to food shortage... We produce enough food for the world to not starve. The issue is being able to transport it to places that have a hard time growing food...
@@johannacannella909 i'm quite sure he was joking because people comment about this all the time. i assume he is a professional chef, so he cooks and uses, say, more advanced terms and techniques automatically. and some people just feel obligated to stand out and say how dare he throw away food or share that they eat the ends. imo he eats the edges when he cooks at home. the fact is a lot of food being actually thrown away because of sanitary and hygiene standards and it doesn't mean cooks of all sorts and other staff like doing it.
I love all the different combinations that can be made- and I especially love to show off my creations to my family and friends. Thank you for the videos! 🍣💕
i think you are fantastic, and i love watching your videos. i only just had my first experience eating sushi a couple weeks ago, but i loved it so much, i looked for some videos on how to make it on UA-cam, and found you! if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you make a video on how to make salmon tempura? that is currently my favorite, thanks!
This is also the same technique for cutting daikon radish for sashimi garnish, although once you have the sheet you would cut thin slices, which is the same for doing cucumber rectangles for sushi rolls.
At our house the ends of the rolls are called chef cuts, unless it's used in presentation those can be used in a salad or rice paper wrap . 🍣. Any ideas on sushi fruit or desert rolls ?
That was fun, thanks! Now, for the next time, I'm going to vote for the vegan roll. Also, I'd love to see a fruit roll in the future, as I'm out of dessert ideas, and that sounds like fun ;-)
Hey people. Please Go read other comment too. He said he does eat the end bits but he just doesn't serve this to people. Just for presentation. Don't get big deal out of it guys :D
@@MakeSushi1 I hear ya even healthy food can make you fight if you constantly eat and spiked ng you're blood sugar with other food isn't good. If you have a draw a line eventually
It seems like you're self taught, pretty good for amateur. Only advice i can give you is, I saw many sushi chefs using garnish as the center of decorating plate but food should be the center not the garnish.
Awesome! I know there are some people out there who aren't a big fan of the nori. Personally, it takes really fishy to me! You make awesome videos though!
Just curious, do you know if there is a technical name for this type of cut? Have been using it to make sushi rolls for a while and don't know the name for it hahah
Hi how to, is there a machine that I can buy/some type of device to use instead of the knife method? Because I have tried it so many times and I keep ruining them. Any help is APPRECIATED much:)
Well done! You Definately made a mistake with putting too much soy sauce lol but atleast u know better now. mistakes happen. Looks wonderful anyway! Thanks for your time in teaching us man
lol, i am well aware of the little cog. x3 then perhaps there is something with the lighting where you make your films, or maybe the camera settings, cos the picture i am getting is somewhat off. it looks very good, but something is off. but i'm just a quality freak. :p
I enjoy your videos very much, but I cringe every time I hear you say throw something away, maybe you could work on that. :-( I do realize for plaiting purpose's they can not be used. It is just hard to hear of food being thrown away when people are starving. But on a whole your videos are a great teaching source. Thank you.
I think that's why he laughed after emphasizing "I repeat, throw away," because he knows someone will comment every time he says it. I agree, why waste the food, but think he missed a golden opportunity to post a video in which he throws away every slice on April 1st. Some Chefs around here utilize the end piece on vegetarian rolls in an interesting fashion. They serve the end with uneven carrot ends sticking from the top, resembling a geyser. It really adds interest, and hierarchy to an otherwise uniform sushi plate. I think that's the one ingredient it works with though. It'd look sad with an impotent slab of tuna.
Thank you! yes, I realized only once pouring that the plate was way too deep! should have re-plated... BTW. please help my channel out by sharing this video, thank you so much!!!
I thought soy sauce is barley used in sushi its usually one small dip with no shake and then eat it ?? Maybe it taste better covered in soy sauce idk but it seems like the point is to taste the sushi not hide it
Why did you pour half a gallon of soy sauce for 4 pieces?
i don't read minds but i'm pretty sure he did it for its colour, so the plate and the dish look both pretty and delish😁
I think our definition for little soy sauce.. may vary.. greatly.
I agree
I was thinking the same thing ;)

When you said to throw away the end bits, I was thinking they were going to be the chef's bite
i usually eat the pieces you're supposed to throw away
right.
yeah why emphasize "throw away" its a little snack for when your making sushi
Lol

"I repeat..throw away" HAHAHAHA!
I could watch your video's all day.
I just back on my diet last week. Sushi rice has a lots of sugar and fat. This helping my diet thank you !
Chico Chiwawa omg google "rice nutrition". It's high in carbs which breaks down to a form of sugar, but has absolutely no fat.
OMG , I wish to learn how to cut cucumber like that! Great video!
" I repeat, throw away", straight into my mouth. No waste. Less soy for sure.
It’s a joke
I love all the different combinations that can be made- and I especially love to show off my creations to my family and friends. Thank you for the videos! 🍣💕

Wow this is my first time seeing this technique. Awesome job
Not quite the hand roll I was looking for, but very informative! Thank you!

And now we pour the milk on the cereal ... oh crap, this is soy sauce ... and that's sushi. ruined
Hahaha im dying
Brent Spear that’s what I thought but the way you put it is so hilarious I laugh my head off 🤣🤣🤣
That Sushi is swimming in that Soya Sauce! Might need a life guard rescue!

You should make the simple maki rolls next!
That was fun, thanks!

Btw, I really like the look of this dish. I don't care if this look like too much of soy sauce. I'm Asian and I like the taste of soy sauce a lot :)
Nice!!!!
Thats a pretty knife
love this!!!!!
Hey people. Please Go read other comment too. He said he does eat the end bits but he just doesn't serve this to people. Just for presentation. Don't get big deal out of it guys :D
Brilliance
Throwaway= "Chef's cut" :-)
That's how chefs get fat, and the reason for the saying "never trust a thin chef" :) *****
+How To Make Sushi
that means not to trust you cause you're on the slim side...
throwing away is wasteful do they throw it away in japan?
Good
@@MakeSushi1 I hear ya even healthy food can make you fight if you constantly eat and spiked ng you're blood sugar with other food isn't good. If you have a draw a line eventually
not too in to cooking, but i do enjoy viewing this. subbing. :3
but you should really get some better equipment. a good mic and camera go a long way.
Wow, really nice idea! Have to try that now my knife is sharp again. But that sea of soy sauce seemed a bit overwhelming.
It seems like you're self taught, pretty good for amateur. Only advice i can give you is, I saw many sushi chefs using garnish as the center of decorating plate but food should be the center not the garnish.
My mouth: WATERING.......
Can you make a video where you make a roll using only rice and other stuff, no nori?
Thanks for the suggestion, will keep it in mind when thinking what to do next... might take a while though.
Awesome! I know there are some people out there who aren't a big fan of the nori. Personally, it takes really fishy to me! You make awesome videos though!
wow
Thanks Nhan!! will you try and make this cucumber sushi roll?
Just curious, do you know if there is a technical name for this type of cut? Have been using it to make sushi rolls for a while and don't know the name for it hahah
"Katsuramuki" is the Japanese name for this kind of cut :)
i'd probably sever my fingers trying that...
guguigugu hah same
Thx now i can feed my kappa nitori
what?
it helps me a lot if you share this video, thank you!
My man here said just a little bit of soy sauce and almost emptied the whole bottle. Lol
Hi how to, is there a machine that I can buy/some type of device to use instead of the knife method? Because I have tried it so many times and I keep ruining them. Any help is APPRECIATED much:)
And to finish it off...add a li'l bit of soy sauce! XD
Galaxy Stars yup
Vegan roll please!
I was just thinking. When the tuna goes extinct, could you replace it with beets and make cucumber beet rolls?
i think you could because i've had a salad before with cucumber and beets and it tasted really good
can I use smoked sausage and slices of tomato instead of tuna and avocado?
throw away....haha :D
Well done! You Definately made a mistake with putting too much soy sauce lol but atleast u know better now. mistakes happen. Looks wonderful anyway! Thanks for your time in teaching us man
Your accent is lovely, but I can't quite pinpoint it. Where's it from?
I have some Nitori vibes here...
It's daikon. Japanese radish.
Vegan sushi roll
Absolute great vid, but you said use something healthy, and used mayo, mayo isn't healthy, right?
im gonna make this a little differently with salmon instead of tuna
I made mine with tuna safe dolphin
+How To Make Sushi what was the white shredded vegetable you placed in the centre of the plate?
it was daikon I think
Thanks
Se ve delicioso
Las.bolitas naranjas son mazago o hueva
seems like a lot of soy sauce but idk anything about making sushi
Its way too much as you only need a pinch to taste
It's wwwwayyy to much soy sauce. This is the weirdest plating I have seen. It's a plate full of soy with 4 pieces of cucumber roll.
Iam a chef i don't throw food away
What kind of Chopping-Board do you use?
when you plate the rolls you put something whiteat the beggining but i did not undestand what it is, can you wrote it for me please?
What if I want to eat it
nice omega seamaster :D
either way, it's gonna be salty even without soysauce, where you already topped with ikura.
lol, i am well aware of the little cog. x3
then perhaps there is something with the lighting where you make your films, or maybe the camera settings, cos the picture i am getting is somewhat off. it looks very good, but something is off. but i'm just a quality freak. :p
that is so much soy sauce
the cucumber was cut to thick sir..... but cool video
i couldn't hear- what's that white stuff in center? i try repeat and still don't hear ! thanks for ideas-
it is Daikon, or white radish. :)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daikon
I think it's chef's principle business that manufacturer and sell the soy sauce.
Lets see the vegan roll. I don't care for the cucumber rolls or the salmon roe.
Throw away? I call that a cook's lunch.
That was a lot of soy sauce
yes I should have used a flat bottom plate.....
its daikon radish it's a radish right? x)
