I have been using the aria 2 for a year now. Some of the paint has started to chip from the edges but this might be cuz i dropped it countless times and has been rough with it. Sound has never disappointed me and I prefer the aria 2 over my airpods pro 2 at times. Accessories are top notch for the price. Overall i give it a 7.5/10 for what it offers in this price range (including the accessories). Im no audiophile so the rating is in the pov of an average consumer
My ears are made of FLESH, so the paint of my Aria 2 is still intact. ;) Incidentally, I popped a tiny piece of cotton cloth in the nozzles, in order to tame the slightly NASTY treble.
"Some of the paint has started to chip from the edges but this might be cuz i dropped it countless times" - nope, the paint chips because Moondrop uses some super-cheap paint, it happens to everyone who uses these IEMs more or less actively
The moondrop iems I have which is the chu and SSP also lost their paint. They look better when polished, I stopped buying moondrop stuff except the dawn pro and I have the supermix 4 as endgame
Aria 2 is my favorite IEM within my collection due to how versatile it is for my needs. With tighter bass than Aria 2021 and a sparkly treble like the Snow edition it's an IEM that I'm comfortable taking outside if I lose it. My comfort food IEM that's non-fatiguing to listen to for hours but still engaging enough that it compliments my library of music and media. Also appreciate showing your guy's well used unit with the paint chipping. A common issue that plagues most Aria users but it shows a more honest showcase of what to expect with the earphone.

4:33 that's the paint chip that you'll get at the 3rd or 4th month of daily usage of your Aria. I've got the same with my Aria SE. Also, keep note that these IEMs can cause... corrosion at 2-pin connection to the point when there will be a green... thing at your 2-pin cable and if you don't clean it, you may face a problem when you won't be able to pull the cable off that 2-pin connection if you don't put A LOOOOOOOT OF EFFORT. I'm not sure if it was the issue from the Aria's side or from my Moondrop MC2 cable, so yeah keep all that info in mind.
my variations cable had the green corosion and eventially gave up after a few years of use. also the IEM shell broke. i used quick glue to fix and both the shells are cracked at the same spot so no more carrying without a case. so long for build quality and reliability
I love my first gen Aria. They got me invested in IEMs and kind of stole my interest from headphones. As you said, the market is super competitive now, but I'm sure anyone would be pretty happy with these.
Moondrop Aria OG was my first proper (non-KZ) iem, it blew my mind so much I stop using my m50x. Now I've already had my Aria 2, even it sounds fantastic, it will never hit the same, ever again.
Hybrids are the future of iem's, nowadays with better crossover and compartmentalizations of the different types of drivers with clear strengths and weaknesses it’s hard to justify dropping big bucks on a single DD now that tuning the alternatives are no longer the newly discovered, complicated task like it used to be.
a major flaw with the aria 2 is they increased the size of the nozzle compared to 2021/snow edition. aria/aria snow was 5.5mm and now its effectively 6mm. getting tired of the cheaper iems being made for cavernous ears. if they can reduce the oversized nozzle of the b2 to 5.7 at its thickest point on the b3 (the lip.. same size as kato) they can keep nozzle sizes smaller on aria 2/chu2/lan and we dont talk about the abomination that is the may nozzle (basically zero red size)
Solid review of the Aria 2. This was my first IEM purchase but I quickly returned it because a lot of people I trusted told me it wasn’t really competitive for the price. I later ended up agreeing. I don’t think I would purchase a single DD and have gotten a lot more out of hybrids.
See i use the aria 2 every day for gaming, specifically cod and i have zero issues with detail retrieval. Its by far my favorite IEM i use (i have a collection of sub 100 dollar IEMs).😊
With so many IEMs, it becomes very hard to choose something that would stand the test of time. Those who don't have access to showrooms, e.g. the hangout basically have to jump on a hype train and hope that they'll like the sound and fit. I recently ordered the Hexa because it's the only thing that stands out as non-Harman. I've no idea if I'll like it.
I got Hexa quite recently too. And was a little disappointed, it's too treble heavy. It's my first BA IEM and I found BA sound is rather sharp, but it's the price for the detail. Now thinking what to do with it, maybe it'll grow on me...
@@unruleri found a lot of people doesnt like Hexa too I remember somehow people start to sell it online on second hand condition I bought it too, well i didn't hate it But i just stick with Moondrop SSR instead
@@unruler im still playing around with tips to get a proper fit in my right ear, as it will give me the feeling of popping out after 2-5 minutes on the right for now, but applying a JM1 eq on the hexa (autoeq 20Hz to 6kHz + wavelet) brings out just what I was missing in terms of bass personally, and lowers a small treble peak. They're my first proper modern IEM and my right ear is kinda weird ig but I hope I can find a comfortable fit. I'm really jealous of all the reviewers that can just pop any IEM and their ears and call it a day.
@SwainixFPV I ended up returning my Hexa. It really left me disappointed and scared to buy blind, so many people praised it and I found it completely underwhelming, Moondrop May (or anything for that matter) is much better. I also tried EQ, tip rolling, hell even polarity switch, to no avail. If it's your only IEM, I recommend trying something else.
Hexa was a mixed bag for me. My main issue with it was the fit. The nozzle is pretty long which makes it hard to get a perfect form with the stock eartips. Things are much better on the sound front. Yes, it's not for every music genre, but the level of detail it reveals is pretty impressive. So while not the endgame for me, it still has a place in my collection.
The cable frays after a 3-4 months of active use because they placed a hard plastic collar near the plug so the cable rubs against it. I have it on Moondrop May (which i bought in May) and had to get another one two weeks ago
I just wish that they went for a better paint finish or material that would last a bit better in the long run. Paint chipping in under 2 months of normal use, 2 pin connector if not regularly maintain would be stuck or hard to be pulled out. In the overall sense, I still really love the Aria series especially the Aria SE for its tuning
Aria shape is miles better than hexa for my ears but the single dd is probably what's holding back from hexa. I hope aria 2 fix a bitof the tuning but the paint issue is still there. We need a better kato and i heard moondrop teased about it a few weeks ago. Let's see
Competition is good. Even if it's against itself. Pretty glad that prices have dropped to the point where what used to be $300-400 "quality" can now be had for 1/3 of that price and kilobuck IEMS today have performance of stuff that would cost more than a good motorcycle 10-15 years ago. 🤣
i treat my aria 2 like a baby, never dropped it, always put it back in the case imediately after using, and its paint still chips off ☹️ .. i got mine imediately after they released it.. moondrop has to do something about the paint quality. i really like the sound of the aria since the 1st one but i might change to other iem if the paint on every aria keeps chipping off..

the oil of my skin slipped the paint off my SSR's. Moondrop has historically had issues with paint.

I have the OG Aria and I haven't found a reason to upgrade.
Soe when is Projekt Red 2 coming out with the smaller nozzel?
So many of the moondrop single dds sound so similar.
Some might say it's their signature sound. However there are cases like KZ, which all sound the same regardless of configuration.
The 20 dollars tinhifii C2 have almost the same tuning, just being a little more vocal forward.
I've been using the c2 for more than a year, and I can't agree more.
