The leaning that you talk about is very real. I had a trike for one day and that was it for me. I returned it and bought a 2 wheel 26" fat tire bike. Night and day. I just couldn't get comfortable with that tilt, which was real, not that you feel like your tilting you are tilted. Nice area in CA. We go up there all the time.

Thanks for the review! I am 3 weeks into owning my e-Trike and EVERYTHING you mentioned was right on point! the uneven tilt in the road took a lot of getting used to BUT you really do get used to it after a short period! An e-Trike is definitely different and NOT necessarily in a bad way! Just different! I am over 60 and still recovering from a spin surgery and have balance and strength issues so the e-Trike was ideal for me and allows me to haul things around with me and do some shopping! I love the refreshing experience I get out ridding my e-Trike! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!

Russ, I believe the brake brand is Five Star. They work very well. There is a small set screw on the side of the lever to adjust the tightness for the parking brake, if it works like Lectric. Orange is great for viability. We put a flag on my wife's trike for viability. Yep, keep your feet on the pedals until you are completely stopped. My wife completely mastered her Lectric. The width isn't much more than the handle bars. We bought it because she hasn't ridden a bike in decades and her balance isn't good.
We recommend learning and practicing in a large vacant parking lot if possible, like a school during the weekend. It's different, but we mastered trikes when we were kids and were invincible then. Not so much now.

Looks nice. I can’t see being in the market for a trike for many years, but it’s nice to know there are good options out there. I like the white and black paint scheme, and it works because the model is TK-1, which sounds like a storm trooper (TK-421 in Star Wars, the original movie).

It is a very attractive etrike. For people who live in flat areas and good bike paths or roads would enjoy it.

I wish you had the opportunity to try out a trike with 2 front wheels. I think they are more stable than the one you are riding.

I have a recumbent trike with 2 wheels in front, and 1 in back. Extremely stable, even at 40 mph. Better design, and a much lower center of gravity. I do lean a little when I want to take high-speed turns, but normal(under 20mph) turns no leaning required. The problem is they are much more expensive, so most of his viewers won't be interested.

I didn't like the way it felt when riding a trike. I tend to turn the handle bar when it leans.

I love that hub motor mounted out of the wheel! that is so novel, wow, I wish I had one of these, I would play around with that SOO MUCH!! Having the hub motor mounted like that is so cool!! It will make wheel maintenance so much easier As well as motor maintenance... I'm curious about how this one rides and performs with the hub motor mounted like that!!

The last time I saw Barry Manilow on television, he reminded me of Wayne Newton. Both of those guy's look like figures in a wax museum.

I just purchased a tk1 and think is it a well made quality product. I wish it had a slower pedal assist 1 speed. On streets with a lot of hills and curves it would be a lot more manageable for an older adult. Starting on a ninety degree turn and going up hill at the same time needs a slower starting speed than 7mph. Seven mph is the trikes slowest speed with pedal assist and is too fast when not on a straight/level street. I hope with time I can adjust.

I found that I was able to pedal without any motor and get a decent starting speed. Perhaps going to 0 to start and then move to PAS1 when you are around 3 or 4 mph would help? My sister found she was also able to ride the trike without the motor at low speeds as well.

The problem is in my neighborhood you need pas 1to make a 90 turn at an intersection and go up a fairly steep hill at the same time. The trike could probably do it without tipping over but it would be scary.

Looks like a large footprint. Can this be folded small enough to fit in Mrs. Right's SUV? Thanks for the review.

I find it interesting that you say let's go "left" for a while when you were already going to the left. I knew you meant "right" but I think you mind was going, "I'm good. Let's continue going left" and cause you to say "left". I know when I make a U-turn going left seems correct and easy, but to go right I have to concentrate because my mind and body are saying "we like this U-turn to the left, but not so sure about a U-turn to the right"
One of the reasons I haven't gotten a trike for our family is I worry about slanting hills, just as you were talking about. I assume you will get use to it, but I'm thinking I will feel like I'm going to tip over and go rolling down the hill just like you were saying. Do you ever get use to that feeling? BTW Great riding review as you touched on all of my thoughts.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  4 місяці тому

Slanting hills are nothing to take for granted. A trike has to have all three wheels on the ground, so any kind of slant will make you feel like you are tilting to that side. It is hard to get used to. Trikes definitely have a learning curve, but many people feel that it is safer for them... until they get on them and feel the tilt. You can get used to it, but it's a weird feeling initially.

You need recumbent bike low center of gravity when will you be taking one out for a test. I watch a channel that has multiple interests and one is riding recumbent e trike. He goes all over Colorado roads gravel trails etc.

I think this would be considered a different type of transportation. To use this as a bicycle or comparison is incorrect. I think they have a very good nitch for people that live in communities where they can get around with one. They are much more cheaper than a golf cart. It definitely has a different riding style. It's not a bycycle on 3 wheels. Your Looking Healthy,Mooncool nice looking trike.

I agree with you. The trikes have specific purposes.
