Met Gregg with James Duval in the crowd at Coachella in 2010. Super nice dudes, and a huge influence on my teen years.
Wow.
@Death Embrace they're fading but here are the autographs. I wish I'd gotten pics but I think I still had a flip phone at the time.

Funny, he says he picked up that Airiel album on a whim and he ended up using one of the tracks in the movie Kaboom a year later. It's even featured in the trailer.

He is such an amazing artist. His movies have the best soundtracks ever, especially Mysterious Skin. Slowdive is also my favorite band.
The ending of The Doom Generation got me into Slowdive.
I love this man for his soundtracks.
He represents the Bis too.
And... he likes Manual. He's quite beautiful.
I knew this would be good. Even if you don't like his movies they still have the best soundtracks EVER.
Fuck dude this video is taking me back did anyone else start listening to more shoegaze and industrial from watching his movies?? I remember watching doom generation and it changed my life 😂

That's awesome! He actually puts his lists on PAPER and not in his phone! Old school.
Love his taste of music.
Even in his mature years he has an irresistible sexiness
I heart Gregg! All of his movies are sooo good with the best soundtracks. Mysterious Skin is an incredibly moving film with beautiful music by Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. I'm sure Gregg's stoked about the new Slowdive, which is brilliant!!
one of the BEST movie directors :)
Greg really does love slowdive. He had a lot of their songs in Mysterious Skin. And he even named one of the characters Avalyn and the other one Neil
YES me and my friend (we watched ms together- traumatizing but amazing) noticed that!!
i've waited 20 years to confirm how to pronounce his name

Gregg Araki made Doom Generation!
Aside from his fantastic movies, he introduced me to Slowdive, and for that, I’m forever in debt to him.
EDIT: I just realized how many people commented this exact thing. So many of us truly owe our lives to him.
This man is simply brilliant. His films are beautiful, moving pieces of art & his taste in music is beyond amazing, purely exquisite & impeccable! Love him. ♥ ♥ ♥

He has spectacular taste in music and I'm a big fan of his films. I'm so honored to know that we graced the aisles of the same store 🤩
I just discovered Araki’s work for myself. I’m catching up - !
I actually discovered shegaze thanks to his movies ❤️
0:46 and then a year later he'd feature The Pains of Being Pure at Heart on the Kaboom soundtrack
he's so cute aw
im sooo happy this exists
Thanks to him, Airiel, slowdive, Harold budd, And Robin Guthrie are my favorite artists ever and have made my life so beautiful
Finally, after watching untold dozens of these things, someone who actually is buying obscure stuff rather than lame dad-rock / "canon" albums. Having seen The Doom Generation, I already knew he was into good music, but it's still a thrill to see that shoutout to early Slowdive. And that Airiel album is a really revved-up take on shoegaze.
omg i love him so much
I fucking love the pains of being pure at heart

Does Amoeba have the following: Everything by The Legendary Pinkdots/Edward Ka-spel/Tear Garden, The telescopes, 1980's/90's 4AD bands, all SOM 7" and 12" ep's, Diamanda Galas, Carach Angren, The Virgin Prunes, Sex Gang Children, Alien Sex Fiend, Crass, Alela Diane, Lykke Li, Bertine Zetlitz, Camill Saint-Saëns?
