I had the `22 last night [ not tried the `21 ] & thoroughly enjoyed it. I then added a good dose of water [ about 5ml ] making it go very cloudy & it only improved the experience making this one for me a quality dram which definitely qualifies as a `sherry-bomb` with strong fruit flavours on the end. Thanks for this comparison.
just did exactly the same tasting 2021 & 2022 and I have to say I prefer the 2021 not so much sherry influence and perfectly balanced, but both are fantastic.
I'm in no hurry to open my 2021, but I finally went back to the 200ml flask I decanted from the 12 46.3%. I wasn't a fan. It was not one of the entry level core range bottles that really kick-started my journey. I thought it was sour and boring. Drinking it today, with you I'm getting all the musty caramel and fruity malt. The finish still could i.prove but the palate is much more complex than I could handle back then. I think the consensus is that the 2022 has more improved Bunnahabhain qualities while my 2021 is just a good young cask strength whisky. I overpaid at Total wine and I would do it again for the 2022. I finally see the draw of the regular 12. You cannot go wrong at that price. I just need a bigger kick with the higher ABV
Saw Mike and Dustin gushing about this 2022 pretty hard. Thought about getting it in my last thewhiskyworld order but didn't. All gone now but hopefully it will show up at K&L or Total Wine in a few months like the 2021 did. Cheers Eric
I just fnished my bottle of Bunnahahain 12 tonight...which is what brought me here. I have not seen the cask strength here in Michigan. Perhaps I need to search deeper.
I have both the 2021 and 2022 and delicious. How would you compare these to the Paul John Oloroso Cask that you recently reviewed????..............................Cheers!
I think the PJ was still a bit more of a “Sherry bomb” as the Sherry notes were heavier. That said, it still retained some provenance as the 2022 bunna 12 does. Both are really good for what they are.
The general consensus is that the 2022 is superior; I really like it. The greatest competition to it, however, is the regular Bunna 12. The feeling I got from the 2021 reviews was that it was good but not much better than the regular 12 but more than twice the price. Much as I enjoy the 2022 it's hard not to disagree. I prefer it to the standard 12 but to me it tastes almost the same except 10% more abv. It's certainly better but is it twice as enjoyable? WT
You’re on point WT. I totally agree and I think if the bunna cs was just 15-20 cheaper it would be no contest (like the case of Laphroaig 10 vs. 10 CS). The other factor for folks in the states is just how hard it is to even find a Bunna CS. I’ve had to get both of mine from across the pond.
The new Hampden Estate Great House 2022 finally dropped and prices are all over the place. I have seen it for $105 to over $130. I may wait a week or two and see if Remedy gets it and it may be $100.
The day I first tasted the 2022, I went right to the my mac and ordered four.
🙌

Glad you’ve got to try it! My experience with water was similar. Quite a fantastic dram!

This had to be a fun comparison! Cheers brother! Winner winner Bunna Dinner!
Oh yeah!
I’ve been looking for this bunna rendition. I haven’t seen it yet! BUT I WILL. THANKS for the advice! Slainte
Cheers! You won’t be disappointed,

Couldn’t agree more about the 2022 and the 12. Interesting to hear about the decanting. Do you recall what year the flask was from?
for the past month, I often sipped the 2022 edition, and I thoroughly enjoy it!! great dram!!
It’s fantastic. Enjoy!! 🥃👍
Thanks this was a nice comparison 🎉
Cheers!
Bunnahabhain is my favorite distillery and I'm so excited to pick up the 2022. Just waiting for my local Total Wine to get it in!
I love bunna too and You’ll love this new CS 12!

Still Love it!

The standard 12 is such a good one. I’d say the CS is worth the effort to find; maybe check online shops

personal I think 2022 is a fresher n stronger 1st fill sherry cask than the 2021
I can see that for sure. That virgin oak help too
