  • Hey everyone!
I couldn't help myself, and just had to see if this old barn-find of a 'Mog, would actually drive as well. now that the engine is, sort of, running.
Here's a link to the video, where we got it running:
    • The Red Mog - Fixing ...
I don't know how many years it's been, since this thing was last driving around. i just know that it's been Very long.
    Thanks for watching!

Rusty clunker that runs right with a Roll cage and mud tyres than can pull itself out of mud holes sounds like a good plan...No point fixing the body work if its going to get dented offroad.

Yeah, a killer off-road rig would be the perfect thing to do with this. If you end up fixing that poor engine, I'd suggest perhaps adding propane injection for just a little extra power boost.
Alternatively, you could make a decent overlanding/camping rig with this.

I’d personally love anything that you did with this Unimog. When you are wearing your “sensible hat“ then it obviously is a lot of money to spend but it’s like most hobbies, you put lots of money and effort in and the reward is in the journey. Sometimes the end result is not worth the sum of it’s parts in monetary terms but there are far worse ways of disposing of your income.

Hahaha…it looked like a Cartoon, the whole story of getting the Mog moving. Well done. I was thinking exactly the same, a very capable 4WD, given that is relatively small. I would transform it into a weekend/week away rig, a roof top tent at the back, a little kitchen, etc. Sometime being smaller is better - I do realise the limitations of the larger models (I got an U1700 L38) and thinking seriously about the box at the back giving the overall height…

i would start to give them a wider axle they look very narrow not very good distribute of the weight, some thicker tires they would look good yea, have you ever thought about turning it into an exploration veichle? Just put a small container in the back to make it as a living space ( bed, kitchen, and something else ) now, whatever you do, do not put bucket seats on it! They are crap and very useless special on offroad, its good for racing but not very good when you have to stick your head out to look on the side to see if you can fit trough the rocks, plus they not very confortable, trust me you will thank me later. Now, in the interior you can do soem retro mod, looking vintage but with modern stuff, or just mix the old vibe with the modern design, you know something with good taste, maybe some wood to cover up all of those levers and puting soem good looking wood inside the doors. Also paint it blue metallic because, you know reasons :'D

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!

Here in the UK I've used Ferrosol on fixings that's saved having to drill out and retap. I've helped mate with 4x4s and they've been suprised at how good it is.
