Hi Guy's this was made last weekend. Phebe seems to run a bit smother Since the run down the dual carriage way. I would not recommend anyone to do it with their Morris Minors. Thanks for watching 🤓👍
Took my dads Morris Traveller along a fast road on the Isle of Wight called Military rd in the early 70s, when I was 17, just managed to get 75MPH before having to hit the brakes for a S bend,
They are great@@woowoo883classiccars genuinely can't wait till I have one of my very own, me and a friend are going to go on a road trip to Scotland and see some sights with it. Edit: I know there great I have worked on them and many car like them
A magnificent English car I always enjoyed driving them and goes faster than you think had a burn up with a ford escort I was in the works van you can guess who won of course I did and the Atype engine outlast the ford escort every day thankyou
Do you have an engine steady bar? I'm wondering if the vibration would increase or decrease if you removed it. (Recently replaced mine, although I've read people toss it)
1. shaking steering is wheel balance and wear in steering assembly. 2 engine and gearbox rattle is bad engine/gearbox mounts and the engine steady bar may need adjusting. I owned a minor 1098. i now have a 1275 MG Midget (Same gearbox) 3.9 differential which you may benefit from. oh and worn propshaft joints
The shaking is probably need wheels balancing but don't do at normal speed so not worrying about it. Uv joints. On prop OK engine mounts OK. Rattle from doors and windows and bits and bobs in boot and glove boxes. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🤓👍
It's a nice car to do 65 miles an hour on the motor Way. But really this car prefer the back roads. What's like to drive it in very heavy rain wind screen wipers do the job?
I can see that the Ford Type 9 gearbox from the Sierra is a worthwhile upgrade on these. It would really increase the usability. By the way, the official top speed is 78 so you did it!
Just curious - why would you go ‘diesel’ if anything happened to the engine? Wouldn’t dropping a straight 1098 replacement in be a lot less work / hassle? Fun video - keep em going 👍
Yes it would be the easiest way. But like I said have done few different things to a Morris Minor and the diesel is just something that would be interesting to do and great fuel economy. But probably never get round to it. Thanks for the comment. 🤓👍
So what this means is there is no need to own anything other than a 1098 morris minor. You can break the speed limit even on ghe motorway 😂. Nice one !!
My friend, no way would a Morris Minor come near a genuine 80mph. Unless of course, you have one with the Morrie 1100 engines fitted. And I reckon you could knock 5 mph off for the genuine speed due to instrument error. Take a look at the Pathe doco from the mid-50s of BMC cars on the autobahns being tested for speed and endurance.
GPS sat-nav would be more accurate. Lose all the nonsense and cut 15 mins to 5 mins or less. Short & sharp gets views as does talking with better diction
Mate, I know to young folks 78 mph seems like nothing but in an old classic like that you feel all of it. 😄 I think young ones caught speeding or drink driving should be made to drive a 60s car at 80mph and get a true sense of how fast they are moving.
I think its always good to give a classic a good run down a duel carriage way every so often
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🤓👍
A two door blue Morris Minor thousand always brings a smile to my face because I think of my old mum and her one
Nice to have memories

Love the little Morris, Love the outro tune from Bottom as well
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 👍🤓
Nothing like the sound of an A series engine getting a good work out. Good work!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🤓👍
Brave man. No belt and rib crusher steering wheel!
In the days when Morris Minors were new nobody wore seatbelts.
I got my 1962 with 948cc engine to 72 mph the other day - won’t do that again - almost shaked it to pieces hahahaha
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching 🤓👍
Same as asking an OAP to run a Mini marathon !!!!😂👍

I Ran mine down the motorway ;) Does them a world of good.

Saving up to get a morris minor of my own, it will be my second car, I'm 18 so the small engine helps with the insurance

Hi thanks for watching
And thanks for the comment. 🤓👍
When I engage warp speed in mine the needle on the speedometer swings wildly between 50 and 70.
Well done Phebe. Very rarlely do I push my little MM to those kinds of velocities!
Hi👋 thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🤓👍
Morris minor is a magnificent little car. I have a 5 speed 1983 Capri, 2 litre, this gem will hit 130 mph.
Love the capri I've owned at least 3 back in the 80s.

@@woowoo883classiccars a modern 1.0 turbo or small diesel would be interesting. All that torque and amazing fuel economy with the weight being so low.
BMC 1.5 diesel
I'd like to know what rpm that was at 70mph. Were your ears ringing? 😄
How much
My 75' mini with a 998 A+ will do 80 on the dial with a tail wind if you're lucky haha. Bit sketchy on 10 inch wheels though
Brilliant bet it fun I had a mini few years ago reminds me what fun that. Little car was.
