One fine display of Yoruichi's prowess was in CFYOW. She and Soifon are confronted by Tokinada's goons, stealthy assassins who move and strike fast yet Yoruichi nonchalantly knocks them out while Soifon predictably gets lethal. By the time it's over Soifon has left bloody corpses all around while Yoruichi has not. She sees Soifon and expresses concern and disappointment at the use of deadly force and hopes she can still subvert the nobility's nightmare expectations. It's also interesting that the early Fullbringers actually wanted out of the power game and hoped for normalcy. Being human it's highly understandable. What a contrast.
I love how simple Kubo's power system is, Kubo shows us that in his anime verse no matter what power you use as long as your strong enough and trained hard enough you can hang with the best of them
Bleach's power system is so cool. Originally, I just fell in love with the zanpakuto, but over time I have come to love how hollows, quincies and fullbringers also work Imagine Orihime's powers fully unleashed. She's theoretically one of the strongest characters in all of Bleach
Indeed. The ones I found more interesting are the early Fullbringers just wanting to be rid of their powers. For them they just wanted to be normal, not prove anything or achieve something. For them normalcy was survival and peace.
I've barely watched the video, and I already love the term "battle system" more than "power system." Because the best Shonen don't just have a form of supernatural ability, but a whole philosophy about how characters challenge each other and themselves. Some series don't even really have a power system, but their battles have a very distinctive identity; Sakamoto Days comes to mind, where characters perform superhuman feats, but it's not characterized like ki, or Nen, or cursed energy. And even within those systems, their battles have a distinct identity separate from their power systems. GeGe Akutami takes a lot of inspiration from wrestling and martial arts movies, and makes each fight very stylish, but also desperate, bloody, pragmatic, and loaded with personality for every character participating in them.
Small correction though Sonido is actually specifically made for stealth as it doesn't release reiatsu not that it doesn't use energy while moving it just hides it thats why Ulquiorra said he lost track of Vasto Ichi and the sternwriters thought Ichigo's reiatsu vanished the movement technique differs with Shunpo = basic Sonido = stealth Hirenyaku = energy saving + better movement Bringer light = environment boost Also no one can actually fly unless it's part of their ability like floating or wings everyone else are just walking on air it's not just Quincy who use reishi footholds actually they all do (except fullbringers) Quincy are just more advanced that the reishi becomes visible and manipulated more effectively while the rest just has basic usage while fullbringers just manipulates physics to walk on anything like water or air and use them to give them movement boosts
I think people misunderstood the zanpakuto principles, I believe that the zanpakuto actually is a reflection of one's soul, that side of yourself already exists which means you're training revolves around extracting that power through self understanding, aside from physical training of course. Unlike other power systems where the characters train to gain new abilities never before existing.
A bleach Game world be Awesome! Exploring each focus on stats and moving one to a particular battle style and with the given races the fun plus exploration would be spectacular!
Bleach has the most intuitive power system that I know of. The way power levels are measured and determined and how hybrids have a "limit break" on their maximum potential reminds me of rpg mechanics. It helps that reishi and kishi are differentiated and beyond that, reishi, reiryoku, and reiatsu. Even the way that "spiritual awareness" has evolved from the "ribbons" into a more scalable function where sensitivity is dependent on the user's power in relation to nearby beings'. Not to mention the way unique powers are connected to a character's personality and mind state. The fact that power is directly tied to characterization is perfect in a genre where all too many characters receive power-ups without any self-reflection.
I'm definitely hyped for battle videos !! I'd love to see this type of video: Karakura gang (Ichigo, Ishida, Inoue and Chad) EoS vs Gotei 13 or vs Espada or vs Vizard ... With the level Ichigo, Ishida and Inoue reached at the end of the arc + their ability to work as a team I think they could be a very good combination!

Your observation of how Soul Reapers master Bankai fits very well with how Ichigo displayed his Hollow abilities with his True Shikai since he pretty much got what his Fullbring Bankai might've been able to do against Juha and then some if it never broke. In fact, I once saw a Reddit theory that Ichigo's "Bankai" was technically a Shikai since it followed the design principles of a Shikai more then some Bankais so maybe it's the opposite for his True Shikai: It gives him the full potential of a Bankai and his real Bankai might be some Mugetsu-level stuff that never got shown in the manga. In fact, it's possible that maybe the real Bankai is for a Soul Reaper to fully master their Shikai in many ways based on how Soi Fon (using techniques) and Byakuya (learns how to make Senbonzakura as strong as the Bankai version and could possibly do a variation of Haakuten without Kageyoshi) accomplish more with their shikai abilities then if they still relied on Bankai.
Well, if you are that invested in swords, but prefer Quincy, maybe you could end up with a Schiff that facilitates sword combat... best of both worlds ehh?

I always wondered why is it that reishi only has spiritual pressure when in the form of a soul. Is it relative to reishi density or is it something specifically with the soul? I mean, if it was just density then numerous inanimate objects in the soul society would have spiritual pressure like wood or metal seeing as that they are denser than skin, flesh and in the case of metal, even bones. But you can only sense people at a distance but not objects. I'd say reishi in souls are just particularly different but a quincy can absorb both reishi objects and living souls without bias which suggests there's no real difference between the two. My brain keeps thinking about this and i have had no answers. There's also the particular mechanics of living reishi or reiatsu where they repel each other when there's a density difference.

Other than op isekais, Bleachs power system is my second least fav in all the battle animes I've seen with dragon ball being the only one worst than it. The power system is so vague and in the end, boils down to whoever the fck is stronger can just do "fck the power system". Much higher rieatsu>>>>any hax without making sense for any ramifications. Danku is a prime example. It's a bakudo meant to block any hado spell lower than its own number, yet as long as a character is strong enough, they can break any rule on its own power system. It's the biggest "who has bigger muscles" powersystem with a shit ton of plot armor. And bleach is objectively the worst in the big 3.

28:12 I think it was stated that a hollow must attack when they're pregnant. And I'm pretty certain current Orihime is so fast and strong that no hollow would even be able to touch her. Also I think in recent klub outside question Kubo also told us that Shunpo itself has 3 steps to perform it. First one is joritsu, second is first bakkyaku, then third is shunpo. He also told us that Kirinji is an expert in second step.
I don’t think so. Masaki was attacked by white years before Ichigo was born. I think a woman who is attacked by a hollow and lives retains the traits and should she give birth, her child becomes a fullbringer. Pretty sure that’s how it goes. Will double check tho.
@@User5hdbh not necessarily. It seems random. Orihime’s brother wasn’t a fullbringer but she was. So it’s not 100%. Perhaps the one with highest level of spiritual potential gets it. Who knows

I mean how much zanpakutou and schriffs and resureccións are involved with one's knowledge of self, we are not there yet technologically to do the concept justice. I mean it could be done, but it's a scripting nightmare to have a game decide what abilities to roll for you based on battle style and dialouge interaction/character background. An undertaking more ambitious than Mass Effect 3 just for the introductory chapters to get your unique ability. Or you could go with the classic skill-tree presets, but isn't that antithetical to the lore and how important understanding is for meaningful growth in this world? Give a couple of years until generative AI gets to the point of accurate psychological profiling and 3D models with working machanics based on that. That is when we can truly make justice to the concept with a make your own character game. A predefined protagonist or a multiple choice of them, where you have a predefined personality and zanpakutou for a character could work better with current tech.
You didn’t really go into the spirit energy/matter (reiryoku/reishi) side of things. Nor spiritual pressure (reiatsu) We know they all manipulate spirit energy, and quincies also manipulate spirit matter. Zanpakuto is made of spirit matter with the user putting their spirit energy from their soul into it as stated by kenpachi and kisuke to hone the blade. Quincies draw in spirit energy/matter and coat them in their own energy. Schrifts are spirit matter from yhwachs soul. There also seems to be some conflict between kido in the community, I see sources claiming it’s spirit energy or some saying it’s spiritual pressure. I think the spiritual pressure claims are mistranslations since spiritual pressure is described as spirit energy exerted as a force, I think it’s only use is the gravity effect and all kido is spirit energy based. The espada hierro is also spirit energy based, this also applies to blut and other variants. Same for soul reapers hardened skin with spirit energy. Like kenpachi blocking ichigos sword by stating the spirit energy leaking out of my body unconsciously is greater than the spirit energy in your sword. This statement and proof also bolsters reiryoku negation which people confuse with reiatsu negation despite no proof for it, where one can negate powers, abilities and hax or anything spirit energy related with spirit energy. As aizen states and proves to soi fon aswell as kenpachi to ichigo and many other examples. Like certain characters not being able to cut through their opponent. It all comes down to spirit energy. It also brings into light the power scaling side where characters can be scaled to eachother, weaker, relative or stronger all based on the fact that they can or cannot cut, damage or negate their powers. 1. First off, Ichigo’s hollow is HALF of his zanpakutou. Thats why he has two. And for that half that he is, the hollow reiatsu in his mother, and the shinigami powers he inherited from his dad, combined to become one half of his soul reaper zanpakutou. 2. Bankai Mastery is important no matter what and the decencies of said Bankai will affect them no matter what. However, not all Bankai are created equal. So Hisagi’s Bankai can defeat whomever even without mastering it because it’s just that strong. But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s not mastered. Rukia’s Bankai one shotted a complete holy form As Nodt. Supremely powerful. Doesn’t mean it’s mastered. It’s still not. 3. Gremmy imagined yachiru’s bones were cookies and they were. But when he stopped thinking about it, they went back to normal. There are clearly limitations to how he can use his power. If he doesn’t remember to harden his body, he gets cut by Kenpachi. It literally happened. And if he doesn’t think to heal in time and he’s cut again, he will die. He literally says so. That being said, I believe after he doubles his clones and then makes 7 clones, the manifestation he creates remains even after he’s gone.

Even tho I love bleach its power system is a mess, mostly for the races outside of shinigamis and hollows. But this is mostly due to incorrect translations and distinctions of reiyoku, reiatsu, and reishi being under the umbrella of spiritual pressure in certain translations. I think the only problematic race in bleach as for the power systems concern are the fullbringers as they hardly have anything listed for how their things works.

@@roywempor8395 there hasn't been anything explicitly stated by Kubo that they are cannon. I also don't use it because it frankly does not feel like Kubo whatsoever as it's written by someone else. He never "supervised it". Kubo provided "some" story elements and Narita "interpreted" them as he saw fit.

I mean, if it was just density then numerous inanimate objects in the soul society would have spiritual pressure like wood or metal seeing as that they are denser than skin, flesh and in the case of metal, even bones. But you can only sense people at a distance but not objects. I'd say reishi in souls are just particularly different but a quincy can absorb both reishi objects and living souls without bias which suggests there's no real difference between the two. My brain keeps thinking about this and i have had no answers.
There's also the particular mechanics of living reishi or reiatsu where they repel each other when there's a density difference.

Other than op isekais, Bleachs power system is my second least fav in all the battle animes I've seen with dragon ball being the only one worst than it. The power system is so vague and in the end, boils down to whoever the fck is stronger can just do "fck the power system". Much higher rieatsu>>>>any hax without making sense for any ramifications. Danku is a prime example. It's a bakudo meant to block any hado spell lower than its own number, yet as long as a character is strong enough, they can break any rule on its own power system. It's the biggest "who has bigger muscles" powersystem with a shit ton of plot armor. And bleach is objectively the worst in the big 3.

I don’t think so. Masaki was attacked by white years before Ichigo was born. I think a woman who is attacked by a hollow and lives retains the traits and should she give birth, her child becomes a fullbringer. Pretty sure that’s how it goes. Will double check tho.

You didn’t really go into the spirit energy/matter (reiryoku/reishi) side of things. Nor spiritual pressure (reiatsu)
We know they all manipulate spirit energy, and quincies also manipulate spirit matter. Zanpakuto is made of spirit matter with the user putting their spirit energy from their soul into it as stated by kenpachi and kisuke to hone the blade.
Quincies draw in spirit energy/matter and coat them in their own energy. Schrifts are spirit matter from yhwachs soul.
There also seems to be some conflict between kido in the community, I see sources claiming it’s spirit energy or some saying it’s spiritual pressure. I think the spiritual pressure claims are mistranslations since spiritual pressure is described as spirit energy exerted as a force, I think it’s only use is the gravity effect and all kido is spirit energy based.
The espada hierro is also spirit energy based, this also applies to blut and other variants. Same for soul reapers hardened skin with spirit energy. Like kenpachi blocking ichigos sword by stating the spirit energy leaking out of my body unconsciously is greater than the spirit energy in your sword.
This statement and proof also bolsters reiryoku negation which people confuse with reiatsu negation despite no proof for it, where one can negate powers, abilities and hax or anything spirit energy related with spirit energy. As aizen states and proves to soi fon aswell as kenpachi to ichigo and many other examples. Like certain characters not being able to cut through their opponent. It all comes down to spirit energy.
It also brings into light the power scaling side where characters can be scaled to eachother, weaker, relative or stronger all based on the fact that they can or cannot cut, damage or negate their powers.

i really happy to see this content, so i can ask many thing regarding to bleach lore.
1. First off, Ichigo’s hollow is HALF of his zanpakutou. Thats why he has two. And for that half that he is, the hollow reiatsu in his mother, and the shinigami powers he inherited from his dad, combined to become one half of his soul reaper zanpakutou.
2. Bankai Mastery is important no matter what and the decencies of said Bankai will affect them no matter what. However, not all Bankai are created equal. So Hisagi’s Bankai can defeat whomever even without mastering it because it’s just that strong. But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s not mastered. Rukia’s Bankai one shotted a complete holy form As Nodt. Supremely powerful. Doesn’t mean it’s mastered. It’s still not.
3. Gremmy imagined yachiru’s bones were cookies and they were. But when he stopped thinking about it, they went back to normal. There are clearly limitations to how he can use his power. If he doesn’t remember to harden his body, he gets cut by Kenpachi. It literally happened. And if he doesn’t think to heal in time and he’s cut again, he will die. He literally says so. That being said, I believe after he doubles his clones and then makes 7 clones, the manifestation he creates remains even after he’s gone.

Even tho I love bleach its power system is a mess, mostly for the races outside of shinigamis and hollows. But this is mostly due to incorrect translations and distinctions of reiyoku, reiatsu, and reishi being under the umbrella of spiritual pressure in certain translations. I think the only problematic race in bleach as for the power systems concern are the fullbringers as they hardly have anything listed for how their things works.
full bringers are humans who have in some way obtained or inherited a fragment of the soul king's body

@@roywempor8395 there hasn't been anything explicitly stated by Kubo that they are cannon. I also don't use it because it frankly does not feel like Kubo whatsoever as it's written by someone else. He never "supervised it". Kubo provided "some" story elements and Narita "interpreted" them as he saw fit.
