Drew Carey’s first taped episode of The Price Is Right was taped on August 15, 2007, but aired on November 27, 2007. His first aired episode was aired October 15, 2007 and taped August 29, 2007, exactly 2 weeks after his first taped episode.
This episode, 4041K was taped two months and 9 days after the taping of Bob's last ep on June 6, 2007. Drew's first aired episode, 4062K turned out to be a perfect show so CBS decided to air that one out of order as his debut
When Drew first started I thought he would quit within a few years, he was famous already and figured he would rake in the publicity, then move on, with his new found fame. I guess I thought he would ruin the shows long time legacy of having familiar faces. Now I’m glad he’s been so dedicated to the show, and think he has been a great host. I hope he hosts until he retires
I agree would have been great! But they didn't know which order these first few taped episodes would air. In fact, even though this was the first one taped, about 10 other episodes with Drew aired before this one was first shown.
Drew has come along way since this first show. Look at the set of The Price Is Right now, It changed dramatically. The show didn't go HD until season 37.
It’s actually gotten much worse since 2007. Barker was better. I actually like the older Drew episodes, but it has trended much, much, worse. The Carey era may have ruined “The Price Is Right”.
@nateboy1489 I wish Drew had more enthusiasm when it comes to introducing the prizes. Bob would say, "I want you to win that!" or, "You're going to look good in that!!!" and then points to the doors. Drew would just say, "George, what do we got for him/her?" Drew is a fine host. He still does want the contestants to win. But he can be better.
Wow dude came a loooong way from his first taped show. His first season I admit I’d abandoned all hope for my favorite show, and WOW has he really made his mark since then and really made it his own. Legend has it that Barker told him not to mimic him and just be himself. Took about a year or two but once Drew found his comfort zone he fits like a glove. But this episode is actually kinda hard to watch 😂 my boy is so stiff and flailing out there. Season 36 really put a lot of people off. If you haven’t watched new episodes in a while, check it out. FAR better these days.
I remember one episode where Drew mentions the first pricing game played on his first show was “this game for one of these.” That was a kinda misleading statement, because the car that rolled out on stage was a Mini Cooper, when here Lucky Seven was played for a Mustang convertible on this episode. It confused me, because it wasn’t until later in this season when they broke away from their tradition of American branded cars only. Some of the Million Dollar Spectaculars this season had cars like Jaguars, Minis and a Porsche. There were several daytime episodes later in this season with 2 Hondas each, and I remember one episode having a Mini Cooper in a showcase.
The way they taped his first episodes was done in a way to where they could be buried at different points in the season. He learned only 6 games a week, so they would tape a X-number of shows a week containing those six games, and place them at random points in the season (because seeing the same six games over and over again until he learned all 70+ pricing games would be boring). They delayed the start of the season by nearly two months to get enough episodes taped with enough variety in the pricing games that they could all be scrambled up throughout the first half of the season and nobody but the most diehard fans would notice.
If Sonya had stuck with 10 cans of dole pineapple 🍍 she would've won that way too as it would've been $17.90 added to the $2.79 for ziploc bags 🎒 the total would've been $20.69
This is first episode with Drew Carey where he began season 1. I watched it once, and I will never watch the whole show again. Unless I have to find some clips on UA-cam to see his best or worst moments from the show.
If Bob Barker can’t find himself to come back They either need to get an African-American host ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 or cancel the show altogether

And did they have to give the set a fresh coat of paint when Drew came?

Bob Barker was a familiar face before TPIR because he hosted “Truth or Consequences” for 18 years and the beauty pageants for several years.
To acknowledge Drew coming to Price on this day, he could've said _And now, here is the NEW star of "The Price is Right", Drew... Carey!_

Newer set's not bad but did it have to get a fresh coat of paint so to speak in 2007?

Sonia (first called conestant) returned on the 1/26/23 show as the last contestant called down. She didn't make it on stage.
Came back after the lifetime ban was gone and the 10 year rule was put into its place
In the first few months of 36th season, they were playing the same games in rotation each week!
I am sure you know this, but for people who don’t it is because Drew needed time to learn all the games

No wonder the Pluto TV channel doesn't show this season. He was a square peg in a round hole.
After George Gray became the new announcer in April 2011 seemed to be the point when Drew finally found his footing
Updated Drew Carey voice since 1996.

I just watched his 100th episode. 😃🙂

Can you post Rich Field's last show on The Price Is Right?

So I agree with you
Getting rid of Rich was the best thing they ever did.

And the first taped show with the new doors and turntable walls
There's like multiple doors when drew carry comes through the doors
It has always been that way from the very beginning with Mr. Barker as host.
All in his first taped show two contestants get a 1,000 at the wheel then the dude wins showcase on a dollar
Although Rich Fields does not appear yet, you can see his arms moving @ @ & you can see him, barely @ 27:30.
