I know i’m just a random comment but totally been watching producer tutorials for a while now and for a starter channel I feel like you’ve already found something. Edits and knowledge already seem top tier. Keep pushing forward, your audience is definitely on the way. God’s got it!! Great video!!
Thank you so much for this!! It's so refreshing to see a woman talking about this and giving us tips, people don't realise how differently you have to process and work with male vs female vocals, this is so helpful! You have a lovely voice btw
i'm off to record tomorrow and am DEFINETLY going to give this a try!!! holy wow this is so helpful and from a women!!!! thank the lord of women on youtube!!! (no dis to all the guys, it just can get a lot like manslaining after a while)
I just discovered this video yesterday and it's really cool to see a new channel growing! Definetly will stay here cause you've got great knowledge to share and it's always valuable. Besides that I really like the serious editing mixed with jokes cause that makes you really authentic and made me laugh few times! Also I just downloaded your vocal packs and they sound awesome :)
first, love to see a new face in the tutorial/music making space! second, great video. I've been doing my vocal harmonies by ear and I think I've been missing out on some interesting ways of adding even more depth. I'll try out what you explained here. Thanks!
THANK YOUUU! Really appreciate the feedback! That’s everything right now! I’ll be sure to go into more techniques soon:) Have some stuff planned👀 Have a wonderful day 🙌🏻
Ahhhhh i'm so happy like you broke everything down and made it so simple. I just went to grammy camp this past July for songwriting and came back and realized its really time for me to get better at production. Waisted so much time watching videos that overcomplicated everything. Ive learned more in these 5 minutes then I have in countless hours of watching videos by male producers lmao. This helped soooo much. and side note editing is rlly good and affective. I don't know how you only have 5 subscribers. Your doing a great job please keep it up 🙌.
this is the first video i've watched on this topic that really delves deep into it and it was so helpful !! i can't thank you enough for making this video
The whisper ones are definitely something I should experiment more. That air could really sweeten and soften in a unique way. Let’s make some tracks like “The Beautiful People” from Marilyn Manson in low volume then!
LOVE THIS!! THANK YOU! My favorite pop star of all time is JANET JACKSON who popularized this technique of her most famous hits. Creates such a unique sound for the artist. LOVE THIS!
@@tobyherald5577 Our music theory levels are definitely low so we just try and explain it to the level we would understand 🥲 People get to caught up in being fancy. Makes it hard to learn. Glad we could be of help!! 🫶🏻
What makes they’re voice sound the way they do is a from a combination of doubles(like your already doing), harmonies(in like Ariana grande cause its usually a 2 part harmony), than doubling those harmonies and ad libs(which will be harmonized and doubled like everything else) Harmonically here all your doing is playing unions and perfect unions which isn’t doing much. T pain has a lot of video of him streaming on twitch I’d watch some you’d learn a lot
@@LaghimaMusic Hey! Thanks for the feedback. For this tutorial, I wanted to keep things simple, which is why I focused solely on ‘vocal doubling.’ I think harmonies can be a bit more advanced and bring in some complex music theory, which might be tricky for beginners. If you’re interested in hearing more about harmonies, 2-part harmonies, and ad-libs like Billie or Ariana use, you can check out my ‘Wildflower’ cover breakdown. I also utilized all the techniques you’re mentioning in the full cover on my channel if you’d like to hear them in action. @@M-SES By doing a new double, the subtle imperfections ad a chorus like effect. Allowing the lead to feel a lot fuller by just doing a simple “second take” being the mono double. I like to label it this way to keep organized. Sometimes the lead might have some processing and effects on it meaning it is no longer completely mono. Leaving this double as a mono one all the time.
are octave layers and tonal tension combined the same thing as a harmony layer? I feel like when you sing the octave layers and then add in the tonal tension layer, they act as harmonics. Great video.
Sing again:) Do another take “replicating” the lead as Best as you can and since no one is perfect the very minor differences between your new take and the lead take you stick with will add a lot of depth and dynamics already with just two layers :) be sure to adjust the volumes to your liking
I'm a singer getting into music production, my question is... We do this throught the whole song, or just a few parts? Doing it for the whole song will be too much? I'm sorry for the dumb question😅
As a guy with tenor range I can say that it’s more than appreciated that you’re making this tutorial. Not only from the standpoint of more women being involved in the world of music (more power to you, seriously) but also because I also look up to women with alto vocals such as Trish Keenan as inspiration and from what I can tell she also used this vocal technique so thanks for showing how a woman does this as an alternative point of view to what is already out there on UA-cam. I also really like that you wore your emotions on your sleeve in this video. It’s more than normal to be nervous shooting your first tutorial video but you totally aced it! Can’t wait for more content.
@@Itsvocalsss omg hi. Let me say, i ABSOLUTELY love your work. im subscribing. I love your voice too. Too bad im a dude goin through "it" so my voice is azz rn😭🙏
@itsvocalsss [See edit below] Sexist? Who gives a flying crap whether there’s an over-saturation of “male” tutorials? Does truth need to be “represented” by gender? No. Ironically, making vocals sound wider is strikingly similar to over-saturation. So you’re actually selling over-saturation, but on your terms. Citing female vocalists only, is that sexist (again), or just an an over-saturation of female artists? Neither, one would hope. So drop the woke BS, and do things because you have competitive value to add - which you probably do - not because you have been conditioned by dumb (easily manipulated) people to play gender games which only divide us. [Edit] Sorry - didn’t mean to be harsh there…you just pushed a button. I see where you were going with that now, and you do have a valid point. I’m going to leave my comment because it’s a sincere progression of feeling and you need to read this so you can see how people are actually reacting, to grow your channel. Remember, many people won’t comment if they’re annoyed, they’ll just ignore you, which would be sad. Because after watching the whole thing, I think your ideas too good for you not to hear real feedback. I learned something, so thank you. Your singing voice sounds lovely. Lyrically OK, the word “forget” has a prosody problem, in that the way it’s used doesn’t follow natural intonation; that’s the only word that markedly stood out that stops the flow a little. Your engineering is quite good too. To take a note from Finneas, maybe if you try to adjust the levels (of the dubs) to the point whereby they’re not audibly recognisable without a trained ear, you might get even better results. But it does sound great. Lizzy was seen as just another LA wannabe blonde skinny thing who was ignored for a long time before someone took her on, if she complied with some serious stylisation (she wasn’t given tips, not actually even her idea, it was dictated and she agreed) such as dark hair, and singing deeper - and that’s how she became “Lana del Ray” - true story (because you mentioned your interest in her). Cheers, and keep on keeping on. Please take this as constructive, because it’s intended to help you grow and build resilience, not tear you down. Robust , yes, but not an attack 😅
don't understand why in these days people only want to "imitate" their stars (like Billy and Ariana). Why don't they can be creative and find their own voice? own composition? own unique sound? onyl remixing, only recreateting, only copying... so boring. sad times...
