I switched to an advanced controller in 2012, just so I don't have to break my back anymore carrying 200kg of vinyl with me. The only skill in DJ'ing, as I see it after 22 years of performing, is to please the crowd and make sure they have a great time. Why do you think the top notch DJ's (I'm talking about all genres, not just hip hop) use highly technical gear instead of vinyl ?? That's a thing you people, who probably have never been in a DJ booth performing, don't know about. Don't get me wrong here, I do like to mix with vinyl, but my fans don't give a rats ass whether I spin vinyl or the digital stuff I usually do. As long as they have a great time !

Only that good selection and smooth technical execution don't have to be mutually exclusive. Also sync is never as accurate as listening by ear if done properly.
