Full tacklist here: This set was fucking genius. A real ear journey for dance lovers. For those who say it was boring I would argue, djing is not about effects and songs every minute, but about letting the crowd enjoy the music. It is like eating slow to taste all the flavours in the food. Broken Bells - Holding On For Life (Solomun Remix) GusGus - Crossfade (Maceo Plex Mix) Andhim - Hausch Aaron Smith - Dancin (KRONO Remix) Andrea Oliva - Decomposing Tong & Rogers - Where's The Music Gone John Monkman, Pete Tong-The Bumps Watermät - Bullit Frankie Knuckles Vs Reboot - Tears (Shield Edit) Oliver $ & Jimi Jules - Pushing On Tong, Flynn, Rogers - Hear me now Star Sailor - Tell me it's not over (Thin White Duke remix) Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons - Lovers' Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)
Andrés Rodríguez Cortés wouldn't argue with you if he was playing vinyls...if you're gonna use the computer and controllers, might as well use them and not just fade in and out A to B to A for an hour. Just my 2cts, I know what he's capable of.
I have listened to this set about 45 times now, read the comments whilst listening and over about 3 years still think it is amazing, the only thing I would change is wishing I was there.
To all those commenting on his age. Who gives a fck how old he is. More power to him that he still has a passion for music, whether it is "your" particular taste or anyone else's. It is completely subjective. I'm 43 and still love house. Am I too old to be listening or going to clubs? What judgmental people you are. Like him or not, whether the choons he plays or his mixing skills, he has done more for EDM and had more sucess than any of you keyboard warriors. lol
Im 47 and have followed pete Tong since I was older teenager . Have lots of respect for the mature DJs and for people who really appreciate the history of house music . Lots of teenagers are turning up in Ibiza every year pretending to know the music . Half of them are just little sheep following the flock as it’s the place to go . Sorry rant over
Yeah, thanks for this comment. I‘m 53 and I was in the age of 17 when electronic music like House, Techno, Acid and even D&B became slowly popular in Europe. There were People like the french Laurent Garnier or Jean Michel Jarre or even the german formation “Kraftwerk“ when every thing started. Digging deeper mixing music started in USA like Detroit, Chicago and so on. You know nothing by blaming anyone‘s age. You think you always stay in the age of 25? And by the way? Who do you think is performing Essential Mix - BBC Radio 1, numb nuts? Well, and I‘m happy Findling again this mix of Pete. It‘s on my iPhone now. Great stuff, man. Thnx
You’re either a poser or you are true to your heart. Most opinions are just jealous responses from witnessing greatness and raw beauty. Unable to accept responsibility for their own inadequacies they pick a route to make themselves feel better. I say F! what the people say. Follow your dreams.
I'm 44 . Product of the early 90's raving years. Still nuts about the music but I've only realized now, nearly 30 years worth of hardcore/tech/house down the line that I've never listened to one of his sets. And now I have and he's brilliant. And seems a thoroughly decent bloke as well. Its made my day. Really has.
Intelligent, subtle, layered, dimensional, moving, well-timed for mounting timelessness. A gift for those whom it resonates and distinction of greater or less than boundaries of preference.
I love Pete Tong throwing it at 59! He has always, and will always be, mister velvet hands. Sooo elegant, like having hot chocolate dripped into your ears. And I am a big fan of people doing what they love, age is a social construct. Those Function One monitors becomes him! Respect!
I have a feeling he might have signed a certain contract with a certain entity, and like Jagger and Dillon, it won’t let them stop. Still love his mixes though.
I came for the music, stayed for the music and still believe in Tong's music ;) smashing it as usual, ignore the haters, jealousy in their blood, let the music win x
This man has the rare credentials of being totally underground and credible and yet the public face of dance music. To be taken seriously in both arenas, it means you are the epitome of the saying, "the mutts nuts". Saw Pete Tong in the 90s and last year - absolute quality in any decade.
Somehow I keep coming back to this set. I guess you need to be a master of your craft, to put together something that seems simple, boring even, yet with the right crescendo in intensity, even if you know what's coming, it keeps you engaged. The song choices are brilliant and their order even more so.
The 'House Sound Of Chicago' - 1986. God almighty, I have that LP somewhere, now I do feel old!!! Haha! Remember Pete Tong taking over the reins from Jeff Young on Friday nights. Anyone remember 'The Big Beat Show', which later morphed into 'The Essential Selection'?? Apologies, getting nostalgic. It was 'Tears' that did it! 😄

Pete isn't effin around. He got me with just the intro. The whole set is bliss!
I love Pete Tongs ears, he always plays a certain type of music dating back to the Essential Selection cds. He has still got it today, even though decent house / dance is scarce.
In fairness to Pete, I believe he has done a lot of good for the music over the past 25 years. He would probably agree he's not setting the world on fire as a dj, however I don't see anyone worldwide who has done more for the scene than Pete Tong in a promotional sense.
Growing up when you asked a DJ for a Tune at his deck...then came along talent like Pete Tong. What a game changer. Too many parties lost in memory. Always had an Essential Mix recorded on tape Friday night.
My favorite mix of 2014. Tong makes it look massively easy - but a great and seamless set of tracks taking listeners on a journey is damn hard to do. Vintage.
It's not about who mixes tunes together technically perfect, it's about playing to the clubbers and giving them what they want !! I've met and known plenty of perfect beat-matching bedroom jocks who haven't got a clue about what the crowd before them expects, just going through the motions of a well rehearsed and practised playlist. I've been to quite a few of Pete's nights. He CAN mix but more importantly he reads it right and is a nice bloke too
A very skillful producer and dj does all his cue/mixing on his headphones just flawless! No monitor or sync button required for Mr. Tong. RESPECT to the legend!
Man, this set is a real gem. Captain Tong taking us on a journey..this is house music. And the crowd is cool, no phones, girls enjoying themselves...oh man :)
I rarely comment on youtube, but this has got to be one of the best sets I have ever listened to. The only complaint I can see someone having is that he drags on the songs a bit but I actually like this as I often play it in the background while I'm studying :)
What a set - this is Pete casually doing his thing, what a man. Same age as Pete and still raving. Why comment on a legend's age? He is a musical genius, FACT

Dude Pete Tong Rocks and this whole set is so good...totally just made me happy and for me personally it was really uplifting and totally spiritual!! I dig it..he would be the sh*t to get to see live! Hey does anyone know what track it is that hes playing at like 44 min into his set? Wonder if I can Shazam it...
Great set. I am going to say it again it's all about programming. Larry Levan was not the most technical Dj or had the best mixing skills during his time. But he knew how to capture the crowd with the music that he played. When he played a record you thought he was playing that song for you and guess what he was playing it for you. Today we are to focus on the DJ and not the good time that we should be having on the dance floor. David Mancuso played records from beginning to end and the dance floor was always hot because the focus was on the music and having a great time. Pete Tong is one of those few DJ's that can take you on that ride with the music. Great job to everyone at the lab.
I love this set SO much its brilliant! First heard it years ago and I'm still popping back every now and then! Listened hundreds of times! Pete Tong you LEGEND!!!!......also love the fact that he is nutted 😁 and loving it!
I"ve liked Pete ever since I got into dance in 98'. He's a guy who's kept it real in the edm scene, even with this terrible new phase of bad music that edm is going through. Cheers from Poland.
43 here and still listen to house music and other genres of techno, EDM etc. Never too old to rave, never too old to dance and party.
fair play nothing wrong with that x
i wanna dance with you ......
You bet 🕺🕺🕺❤️🔥❤️🔥
You’re not alone 😎

Andrés Rodríguez Cortés It really is an eargasm for dance lovers!
Andrés Rodríguez Cortés spot on! Pete is always here with banging tunes. Never looking to the past, always up to date. Great set.
Andrés Rodríguez Cortés wouldn't argue with you if he was playing vinyls...if you're gonna use the computer and controllers, might as well use them and not just fade in and out A to B to A for an hour. Just my 2cts, I know what he's capable of.
+Andrés Rodríguez Cortés This was dope just because of GusGus, damn I love them
I have listened to this set about 45 times now, read the comments whilst listening and over about 3 years still think it is amazing, the only thing I would change is wishing I was there.
I've tipped you in the 3 years pal by 3 years more and totally agree and starting suddenly to fancy a cruise 🛳. D.

100% Turtleman122! you must be 47 now; hopefully you still love house! I'm 36, so we both remember and been in the scene a while!!!!
im 37 and i love house music without differentiate someone's age. Good house music didnt recognize nationality, age and races

This is pure class, subtle . He's actually a musician. I find this as absorbing as a classical symphony.

I have grown up with this guy, Pete Tong is my age and I love this...he’s an institution!!
He is The Institution!
Better than any drug this music🎴
