It’s my recollection that when Pictures at Eleven was released (I had just entered college) Robbie was praised for his innovative guitar work. At that point we knew Zeppelin wasn’t going to get back together. So when the album came out we knew he had big shoes to fill. And he did so beyond most people’s expectations.
Yeah,,, really very nice everybody involved. I especially like the drumming, it sat well and the dynamics and tom tones were spot on. Robbie's melody in that song is legendary and the little quick twist in arrangement to get back to the verse was perfect for the end too. Slick stuff! It is so important to have a recorder rolling for these rare gem occasions.
I bought the Principle of moments cassette was when I was in my 20S and was amazed by Robbie Blunts masterful guitar work from beginning to end. Love this song ,great driving song that usually puts me in a melodically induced trance.
I'm probably older than you,I bought the vinyl album when it first came out and later saw Robbie with Robert Plant in Nottingham. I had not seen him since then up to videoing this. Doesn't put in many public appearances these days so was fortunate to find him as guest of Debora Bonham.
I always thought Robbie was a very unique player. Is there anybody else that sounds like the stuff he did with Plant? Hats off to anybody that finds their own voice.
Robbie Blunt the classic tween tones of a vintage Strat and a Fender amp with verb, breathtaking, Blunt is a Strat master, Debora a great vocalist from a talented family.
Saw Robbie in 85 Cincinnati at Riverfront coliseum (it's on UA-cam and a gem) w Robert plant. He was so cool w swagger and his Roland synth guitar, walking on down the inclined stage on opening number in the mood. I asked my friend who is the guitarist? He said That's Robbie Blunt. When they played big log it was too good! Treasured memories
Always great to see Robbie..saw him in my teens with Silverhead ..never forgot his flying Vee on stage..sadly his masterful guitar not seen nearly enough..
Can't find any bootlegs etc of the Christmas Eve 1983 last gig if the tour at Birmingham Odeon.Would love to hear that.I think Jason Bonham came on for the encore but my mind could be playing tricks too.Robbie played a blinder.
Always liked this song since it came out in 1983 Robert Plants"The Principle Of Moments"album which I still have on vinyl. It's also on Robert Plants "Sixty Six To Timbuktu" compilation released in 2003 on C.D
Hmmm who couldn't sing such a lovely song with those Masters behind yah? The guitars playing make chills run up and down my whole b o d y... Sing away young lady because it is a very very lovely with lyrics clear. Oh yeah! Delightful! :-)
I think you need a hearing test!! this is AWEFUL!!! out of tune, intonation whacked, the playing is dreadful! This is NOT the Robbie Blunt of the 80's!!!!
@@marcmoldowan4616 I do agree with your take on this particular recording. This one does not come any where close to the recording used with Robert Plant's video of Plant stopping at a gas station in the middle of the desert. This recording with the female singer IS horrible. And, the genius of Blunt's routine is insulted by this recording. Sorry. Search for "Robert Plant - Big Log (Official Video)" for a better sounding Blunt recording.
Lovely to hear Blunt do this song. But a shame that the guitars are out of tune with one another. Please stop and tune up and begin again. Letsee where is the youtube button for that...
This is a really nice rendition - compared to the over polished 80's sound, I think Robbie Blunt lost it a little, Deborah Bonham sings beautifully ...
Robbie Blunt never got the recognition he deserved. Incredible playing on those early Plant solo albums.

Yeah; tasteful and melodic playing.
The first time I heard this album I was instantly drawn to Robbie Blunt’s playing and tone. Fit perfectly with Plant’s voice and melodies.
Well said. I too was fixated on Robbie's guitar. It's what drew me deeper into the song. In such a strong, maybe even a dark ominous way.

The most underrated guitarist, EVER!!
Saw Robbie with Planty Xmas Eve 1983.Still have the tickets.I was 14.
God bless him and all who sail together.
I never tire of this song.
Debora has a hypnitic voice. Makes me want to sit back and light up a joint and just close my eyes. Love it!
Quite right, and her brother was a fairly decent drummer!

Robbie Blunt has that rare ability to transfer feelings into music via the guitar, a true talent bestowed by God.

Blunt brings allot of emotion out with his playing here! One of my favorite solos ever!
Robbie's playing is just magic. Hope he goes on for a long time to come.
Robbie Blunt, An incredible guitar player.. A master in my opinion.

Robbie Blunt rocks! I love this song. I'm always picking around at it. One of my all time favorites. Thanks for posting!
I've always wanted to see him play this - it is a masterwork. One of my favorites after a lifetime of listening to music. thank you Robbie.
Amazing Robbie's chords and clean melodies. this was a huge song in the U.S. Unusual - beautifully melancholy
I was brought here for Robbie Blunt, but was deeply impressed with all of the musicians in this band! Lovely version!
I love that 7th note on the A chord ending each chorus, Robbie is so subtle.

Saw them at the Boston Garden. Man, That was the good old days huh?
What a great song...there are not very many guitarist who can play that clean.
Listen to the hellecasters or Albert Lee or Danny Gatton Big WOW factor 🤩
Robbie is one of my all time favorite guitarist. WOW!
Blunt plays with emotion and melody. Lovely!
This is a nice treat. I really like the spontaneity of the live performance in the small pub here. It has a certain charm to it.
It's all about the guitar playing in this song. Love it!
Always great to see Robbie..saw him in my teens with Silverhead ..never forgot his flying Vee on stage..sadly his masterful guitar not seen nearly enough..
Fantastic!!!
One of the best guitarists I have ever heard live when he toured with RP, Brighton, Oxford and London, all 3 in a week!
Check out the live version from Hammersmiith Odeon, my ringtone for years.

Deborah Bonham has Chop “ 👍👍👍👍
Plant has some great songs back then. 👍👍
Wow great in its simple honesty in an intimate setting....Robbie Blunt was great on Plants first solo album
And on the next two as well.
Robbie Blunt gran guitarrista! Sus discos con Plant son excelentes..!

Where is he today ??
Robbie was great in Plant's band .plant should have kept him
Robbie Blunt :)
Robbie is one of the unappreciated guitarists, but this performance is not as expected by every aspact
*_Robbie Blunt ....WHY?!_*
Nice vocals. TBH, I was concentrating on Robbie's guitar. But the lyrics didn't offend the ear. :-)
Keyboard guy is missing all the string parts
Notes are hard but emotion is even harder to convey. Robbie used the former to nail the latter.

Underrated: a loser’s favorite word😂😂😂
Robbie should invest in a tuner.
Sounds terrible, robbie is an awesome guitar player, but im not impressed with this..

dockaiser i prefer the 80’s vibe.
Be truthful - it is cringeworthy
