the white eyes only make sense as a kind of safety visor that can be flipped down. keep the blood and debris out of his eyes. we see blood splash on the white parts in more than one deadpool movie so as part of the mask and not a stylized eye i buy it.
I don't think the wideness of the mask or other reasonably exaggerated costume features are issues. Speaking of the white eyes, this shows it could easily work with live-action Batman too, even though both the execs/designers and audience are skeptical and unimaginative
Even though the white eyes are usually better, I think that the render where we could see his eyes looked a lot better and more like it was part of the shot.
The problem is, those animated eyes don't really suit Batman. Deadpool is goofy and fun, so those animated eyes suit him. But Batman is dark, brooding and serious, and hardly ever even shows emotion in the first place.
@SlytheBat Well, with a version like Pattinson, his eyes legit are such an important part of his performance that you couldn't have the white eyes covering that aspec of the character.

I was amazed when i found out they cheated Bruce's head in BTAS and made it taller than Batman's head (basically the nosebridge is eliminated so he can have that classic Alex Toth tiny nose spike) but once I tried to wrap my head around it, it made some sense that Batman's trademark little white triangles are not directly centered on his eyeballs, but just the lower half of them.
Seeing Wolverine wear his comic accurate Mask and Costume in Deadpool and Wolverine was awesome but having the chance to see him wear his Mask in the previous films, especially in Days of Future Past which is my favourite X-Men film, it looks even more badass. Well done

I actually don’t think the ears are too wide or blocky, it’s just that the rest of the costume is lacking the shoulder pads. It’s why I was really confused as to why they got rid of the pads in d&w, it looked good but his silhouette was a bit wonky like here. Plus the colours are too muted on his suit to match the yellow. I would love to see you make a white helmet and red eyes version as giving him the xforce colours would match the suit better. Good work!

Respect for going straight for the hardest shot possible. It could've been a nice, well-lit locked-off shot where he slowly walks offscreen, but nope. I was going to do some nitpick about how the cigarette light looks a little big and seems to hit places it shouldn't be able to reach, but I've watched the side-by-side frame-by-frame and I honestly can't tell if it's real or just the mask shape catching it differently. That's how good this is.

This looks great for the DoFP suit! If Wolverine wore his iconic mask with his costume from the original movies, I think the two biggest things that would be different is 1, not including the white eyes(as that was not something movies did back then for Batman-like masks), and 2, making the mask all black but with gold trimming around the original black parts, to match the rest of the suit.
When I was little, I could give the films a pass with the black costumes, but it always bugged me that Wolverine didn't have the mask. You did a wonderful job with this, well done!!!
I definitely prefer w/ the white eyes! That mask is dope. I actually like it better than the one I saw in Deadpool & Wolverine. It has more of a Matte metal look. The “wings” or “ears” could be downsized a bit and closer to the face, but yo, dope work! Would’ve loved to see that!

As much as I always wanted to see Hugh in the mask since 2000 and LOVED seeing him in Deadpool - I can see why they opted to not use it in the older films. The cool thing is, we now have a multiverse variant that can be in Avengers films and wear the classic outfit without connecting it to the Fox film series - it's a perfect win! I'd love to see the brown and tan costume used in future films though for this version.
I’ve always liked The Wolverine 2013’s take on the cowl. They were experimenting with the idea of Wolverine using the iconic Cowl. But seeing it now in motion does look a bit stiff and wonky. Non the less I’m glad you’ve brought it in as a template.

Definitely grey and black is the way to go here unless you want to recolor the whole uniform. I like it better with his real eyes comped back in too since the combination of camera and VFX in the same matte makes it look less like two separate things and more like one real shot

Man your helmet actually looks better than the one in the Deadpool movie. They really couldn’t seem to figure out the nose/brow/eye area so he seemed emotionless when the mask was on. Here he looks intimidating.

The arrogance of Hollywood ment that people couldn't see wolverine in his iconic mask/costume for decades. Every film would have been much better if they just allowed the characters to look like the source material.

The version with the eyes exposed is MUCH better than the white eyes. I also thin it should be a more flush fit/smaller, and with a bit narrower sidewings.
Very nice work. Fans love to claim superhero costumes should be accurate to the comics for live action adaptations, but there are very few that wouldn't look ridiculous. Look no further than the 1990 Captain America movie and the USO costume Steve wore in The First Avenger as perfect examples of how silly and impractical comic-accurate costumes look in live action. Spider-man is the closest since Peter essentially makes his own onesie, but the film versions still added texture and detail to prevent them from looking like a set of Spider-man pajamas from Walmart. The reason they must be adapted is that live action adds a grounded realism no matter how fantastic the story, so everything must at least appear to be plausible and functional in the real world. I think the black leather was too much of a departure for the early X-Men movies, with First Class proving that a thoughtful adaptation _inspired_ by the comics can work. At the same time I believe they needed time and the influence of the MCU and Deadpool costume designers to figure out how to be respectful of the comic version for Wolverine's costume and mask without having it look ridiculous. Like most others it evolved from a spandex onesie to a functional tactical suit, just like Deadpools. While the white eyes make little sense, Deadpool paved the way for them to be accepted because that character is so absurd that they worked, but once audiences were accustomed to them they were able to include them for Logan's mask also, especially in another Deadpool movie.
I'd love to see you go back and add the mask to the other X-Men movies. I bet that'd look awesome. Also you guys did a really great job this look amazing!
