I followed your previous advice for the CPU (7800x3D), huuuuge improvement. I took 32gb of DDR5 ram 6000mHz CAS30. Thanks

    Hey Mike
Does DDR5 speed affect the X3D chips as well? I went with 2 sticks of DDR5 (2x32) CL30 6000 RAM for my next build with a 7800X3D. Building it this weekend. Thanks!

I've just bought it two weeks ago after watching some tests on UA-cam to make my choice. For the 5800X3D I don't know, but for a 7800X3D they say it's important to choose a ram frequency same as the CPU or higher, and a CAS latency as low as possible. After choosing the motherboard model, watch the ram compatibility list in the manual online to make sure your ram will be 100% compatible with it (otherwise there's a risk that you won't be able to use it at its highest frequency). Put the ram in the right slots to use it in "dual channel" (look in the motherboard manual). Once your PC is built, go in the bios and enable the EXPO setting to use it at the maximum frequency.

your memory controller or infinity fabric are desynchronized from your RAM speed wchich result in high latency and this is the problem especial with flight simulations. I bulid sveral PC and DDR4 with slightly lower FPS performs more snappy and less stutters and freeze. That my opinion and founding.

Thanks mate. My 1yo build came with i9 13900k/rtx4090/32Gb 5200ram (properly config'd in bios) and I remember asking you earlier this year whether I'd get much advantage swapping to 6000ram. You guestimated it would only improve by about 5%. So looks like you were spot on! Any thought on the newer i9 14900k performance vs my i9 13900k? I have a z790 MB so I have been thinking about upgrading to i9 14900k and faster 6400 (or faster) ram. Do you think this would be worthwhile for flight sims like xp12 and msfs? Thanks again for all your interesting and informative videos mate, and best cheers from Australia.

Upgrading to 6400 would be more worthwhile. I'm actually seeing a difference between 6,000 and 6400. Upgrading to the 14900K would not be much of a difference at all.

@@xforcepc Thanks mate, that's what I'll look at doing, esp. since higher speed ram has come down in price since I got my new PC almost a year ago. I might even look at faster ram as long as my z790 MB can support it. I'll contact my PC supplier and ask them for advice. Many thanks again mate and cheers.

@@xforcepc Just a quick update. I bought some new/faster ram from Amazon Black Friday sales, 32Gb (2x16GB) Corsair cl32 6400 ram. Went through my msi z790 mb bios and enabled XMP 1, checked device manager and it’s properly reporting 6400 speed. With xp12 and msfs in VR I have noticed around 5-10% higher fps, but more importantly, a bit smoother performance, especially flying heli’s low in cities like NYC. Thanks for you golden advice mate.
