I don’t know about up there, but here in Kentucky. You’re not allowed to bring in outside firewood for camping unless it has been kiln dried. That’s to be sure all those beetles or whatever that’s killing the pine, is dead.
Of course there are two types of weevils that killing the pine trees. They are the long pecker weevil and the short pecker weevil. The short pecker weevil is more dangerous because he can move around fast. The long pecker weevil, well every time he moves, he has to reposition his pecker, since it is so long. Thought I would let you know.
Staging is the key to speed. My challenge video is uploaded and set for Sunday morning. If you and Kevin have equal amount on both sides and go to town splitting.
Like Bert said, “stack on both sides”. In addition stack largest rounds on top, thus gravity helps with heaviest rounds leaving the lighter rounds until last when your getting more tired.
The 4 and 6 way work perfectly with the right size wood. Keep that in mind for your challenge. I feel your pain, my truck is dirty with salt and its to cold for a bath.
Love the wording on the log table. Dirty hands clean money. So true. I have a box store spitter and work solo so always looking for ways to improve efficiency. Lifting the big rounds are the worst. That ash is nice stuff. Wish I could get my hands on some of that. Don’t see much here in SW Michigan. Good stuff.
😁😁???? Could it be a kiln for your mini firewood???? I see one on another video the other day.😁😁 Glad to hear you’re going to get the brine/salt off the splitter. Great video. Dave from Maine.

@@WilleysFirewood Thanks for the answer. As an engineer I always thought the third bold was redundant and would definitely cut time in the "one cord challenge! Hope Kevin and you can snatch victory in this competition!!
The wedge is a little quicker to turn around when you are using just 2 bolts. Is the third bolt just so you do not bend the top bar if it is hit with the top of the wedge? Or does it have some other structural significance? After watching HWM I was left with another question about the Allwood splitters in general. I know they have Italian valves. So it leads to wonder if in the event of a blown hydraulic hose, can a body just go to the local hydraulic shop and have a hose made? Or do they take a proprietary fitting? Excellent video. Have a wonderful day.
