Air India Flight 101 was a Boeing 707 but a Boeing 707-420 which is a Boeing 707-320 Intercontinental with Rolls Royce Conway turbofans but more importantly the British caught the 707's issues of insufficient yaw control during an engine failure go around, excessive rudder forces, and the ability to over-rotate on takeoff, a problem that was found on the De Havilland Comet 1 so refused to give certificate of airworthiness until Boeing modified the 707 to address the British reasons for refusing certification The addition of 40" to the vertical fin and installation of ventral fin and the implementation of full rudder boost had the effect of fixing the Dutch roll problem.
@@ganeshjadhav6019well obviously it was political. But that doesn't mean we can't get sad about it. What do you intend to tell us with this? That just because it was political we aren't allowed to be sad about losing Lal Bahadur Shastri ji and Dr. Homi J. Bhabha?
I don't know how I stumbled upon this channel, but every since i've been watching it. Like- i'm not even a fan of being a pilot but this seems interesting
What a video! . Over recent years I've carefully watched over 2000 air crash videos here on UA-cam, and have to say that THIS is the best one I've ever seen. . WyngX, I salute you!
A modern scenario involving Air India Flight 101 in 2018 (september 1) showcased quick thinking and exceptional skill by the pilots. The Boeing 777-300ER experienced multiple system failures, including radio altimeter malfunction, low visibility conditions, and nearly running out of fuel2. Despite these challenges, the crew successfully landed the aircraft at Newark Liberty International Airport, ensuring the safety of all passengers. I believe you have covered this one. It was one of the first videos I ever saw on your channel. Keep up the good work. (Also: still waiting for you to cover the Air France Concorde incident.)
I ran to the comments to see who 1:11 else was excited as I am, to see you've uploaded a new gem. My fave part is always when the haunting music starts at the end as you explain the last part.
I'm a huge fan of the aviation industry and the ACI series i used to watch from long time back. I came across your channel last week and watched every videos. The animation, graphics are great, and the engaging narration from you, paired with the background music and editing, make this an absolute cinematic experience. Thrilling to watch in every way. 🔥❤️
I read through the book Conversations with the crow. As per Robert Crowley then CIA director of special operations a bomb was sneaked into the cargo hold. This was probably done in Beirut or Mumbai, I would suspect Beirut. This would explain two things, why the wreckage was spread over two kilometres instead of the crash wreckage being in one spot as this was because the plane was already disintegrating before it the ground. Next, it is convenient that the planes recorders warent found. My theory is that they were found but never revealed, Italian or French intelligence is practically at the hip with the CIA. If it was revealed it would reveal that it was a mid air explosion. Crowley also admits that they killed Lal Bahadur Shastri and the location of his death makes that likely too. Back then CIA was worried that India was getting close to the Soviet Union as ad titled by Crowley, so they probably figured that to kill him in Moscow would affect relations between India and Soviet Union. What a twin blow to a growing India, 10 more years of Shastri would have setup India nicely without the corruption bought on by India Gandhi. This is all not surprising for the CIA as they killed their own president JFK around that time.
I'm not convinced it was a bomb as the 707-420 had crashed 191 feet below the summit, it is entirely likely that when 707 travelling at cruise speed hit the mountain, the force of the impact sent it up into the air or most likely caused an avalanche which took the wreckage down the mountain
@@Knight6831but why was it losing altitude if say bomb had exploded it would gain weight to a bomb theroy and why it was dropping altitude, just my theroy
@ because the 707 was in the middle of a let down from 19,000 feet to altitude to hold until it began the approach to Geneva but the flight crew had started their descent too early while they were on the wrong side of the mountain
@@Knight6831 Then was no response from the cockpit to Geneva atc when they saw the plane descending on radar. Geneva atc tried to raise them but got only static, this would indicate the bomb had already gone off and the cockpit was compromised. The Avalanche theory can be evaluated by where the wreckage was, the video is showing an east-west spread of wreckage with respect Mt. Blanc and not north south. Assuming the video is accurate on this the Avalanche theory wouldn’t make sense. Avalanche would be on a north south axis from the summit to the base. You have to read Crowley’s statements, there is too much detail there to events that were happening at that time to dismiss those.
After checking other similar channels on air crashes, honestly, yours is the best. In terms of narration and information that is well explained through images and words. You're a teacher!
The fact that BOTH the Malabar Princess (L-749) & Kanchenjunga (B-707) crashed here 16 years apart and on the same route is just down right creepy… It reminds me of another disturbing aviation coincidence that also occurred in 1966. On March 4th, a Canadian Pacific Douglas DC-8 en route from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 to Vancouver 🇨🇦 with an en route stop in Tokyo 🇯🇵, slammed into the sea wall upon landing 🛬 at Haneda in dense fog 🌫️. The accident killed 64 of the 72 passengers and crew. Literally the following day, a BOAC Boeing 707 (flying in the opposite direction), Tokyo 🇯🇵 to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 taxied past the wreckage and took off without incident. 24 minutes later, the BOAC 707 disintegrated over Mount Fuji 🗻 due to SEVERE clear air turbulence, killing all 124 passengers and crew…
when i discovered ur channel i literally binge watched all of the videos ,absolute fan of ur narration and ofc the stunning animations ,luved the video as usual!
I have 2 questions. 1. Why did they not just fly around Mont Blanc? Could they have diverted by a couple of miles and flown over a smaller mountain? 2. If the ATC could tell them they were 5 miles away then why didn't they tell them how far they were way earlier? They could have told them to distance from lets say 20-30 miles away.
1. It was the standard route to Geneva, and most of the Alps is tall. The only way would have been to fly entirely around it.. But remember that they didn't think they had any problems, and that they could manage with the instrument failure and were fine.. In hindsight, it is ofcourse obvious to us that they should have done something different. 2. The ATC was managing multiple flights. It is usually not the ATC's job to help you navigate when you are doing a procedural descent, unless explicitly asked for by the pilots.
@@_WyngXhi Wyngx, love your videos. About the 1st point, given the knowledge that there was a high-profile individual within the passengers, shouldn't it have raised the stakes, as in staying clear of any negative possibilities, even if it was such a small chance?
