Late 80s/early 90s had the BEST music!! There's not a genre you can name that wasn't on the pop 40 radio. I'm sure there's arguements to be made... but we had some great music as a whole!!
I was a child of the 60s, Teen of the 70s....!!! I have seen/heard/followed the evolution of music, for better or for worse!!! Lol....I used to have a problem with rappers "stealing" the greatest grooves and/or songs of the 70s but I grew to appreciate that they knew great music when they heard it!!!
In the 70s, I would listen to Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" radio program every week as he played/counted down the Top 40 songs, and every genre was represented in that Top 40!!! A case can definitely be made for the 70s as the BEST decade of music EVERRRRR!!!!
@@patrickmurchison9145 I was a child of the 70's (71) and a teen if the 80's. I grew up on 60's, 70's, and 80's music. Music was great then. But early 90's was my college years and when I turned legal to club and drink.. Great times and great music my entire youth. 😂😅
THE GREATEST MUSIC ERA, PERIODT! JAZZ, FUNK, ROCK, RAP, RNB, ALTERNATIVE, GRUNGE...WHAT ELSE? OH COUNTRY....AND JANET JACKSON WAS THE CREAM OF THE CROP DURING THOSE DAY. UGH, I LOVED THIS ERA.
Not really. There’s good music in all decades
63-73 was epic for British music, 74-79 ok, 80’s synth pop was rubbish. Picked up again in the 90’s onwards.
This song was FIRE in the clubs back then!
THIS was my jam when I was in my prime "going to the club every Saturday Night" age; can't tell you how we danced to this. Will love this song forever. I recommend you try the acapella version of this song; Caron Wheeler needs NO music, it's that good. By the way, they are British; England had great music at that time as well! I bet your Mom looks great if she still dresses like that!!! Good for her!
This song was on the very first episode of Fresh Prince. Will is jamming to this song while hanging a picture of Malcolm X.
British Soul group they had another hit KEEP ON MOVING
I second Keep on Moving! Still a jam!
Get a Life, Jazzie's Groove, Fairplay, Missing You, Love Enuff.....so much heat int their discography.
I vote for Bel Biv Davoe [Poison]whenever can fit it in.Probably heard it in the background growing up.This cassette was on constant loop in my car during high school..
Thank you Brooke! I've been trying to get recklezz to react to that!
I think they heard it more than in the background. Poison was/is played at parties, picnics, movies, tv shows. Its one of the most popular songs of the 90s
Got you Brooke & Vic💯‼️
Back when music was still music 🎶✌️
Here in the UK it was the 2nd Summer of Love - I was 18 and it was a hell of a summer
Will Smith danced to this on the first episode of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Its very surprising will Smith didn't sample the song. he made a complete album off of sampled songs
I recommended this song when you were asking for suggestions, so I'm really glad you like it.
Love this era. I was in my early 20s. Pleated pants and short-waisted, shoulder-padded suits from Oaktree. Everyone in the clubs trying to dance like "Every Little Step" Bobby Brown. Even white guys like me. We looked ridiculous but it was so much goddam fun.
Everytime, every time, I take a few minutes for myself, when going back to my life at a break, I always sing to myself "back to life, back to reality". This song is a banger.
This' was the jam on the dance floor. Packed the house immediately. Also check out Keep On Movin'. But if you want to get nasty, play Jazzie's Groove (extended version). Slammin'!!!
She could sing any style smooth voice
80s 90s was the BEST EVER MUSIC AND MOVIES the young people of day missed the very best stuff.
What we have today entertainment wise is rubbish ! 😂😂😂🌹
Crys playing the violin gotta be the next vlog. It’s just good fun lol
Aww y’all bring me back to my glory days with your song choices great taste I really enjoy your videos 🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This song is a stone cold classic, it reminds me of hot summer city nights at a more carefree time in my life. It was a nice period of time when Afro-centricity was celebrated, it was positivity and wasn't all xanax, molly and percecet.
“Wild Wild West”
Kool Moe Dee-
Nobody will
Give you that
Even better-
“Party Train”
GAP BAND
Im giving you pure gold my man
I was deep into the whole genre-
I know many forgotten GEMS
loved that era of music
Gap Band deep dive you won’t go wrong
This song has everything good...groove, vocals, lyrics, rhythm, love it
Classic jam. Was hooping to this back in the day. Off the backboard earnin my quarters haha
Big up London England for Soul to Soul
DEFINITELY one of our jams back in the day! And I think what Krys was trying to say is-she played the violin well, while in school- it’s just that most of the time they would have you practice and play more “band” type pieces.. and not so much dance or modern music.. she can surely correct me if I’m wrong- 💖👍
Love this song! Still on my playlist!
I miss the 90s 😪. Music isnt fun anymore I miss those days
I had to look more than twice at that hat he's wearing - I really thought he had his aunties favourite church wig on!!! 🤔🎩😂😂😂😉
Top British R&B of the 80’s-90’s 🇬🇧
Beginning of Neo-Soul. Loved them
Anyone else out there who went to Jazzie B's night at the Africa centre in covent garden? Big love to you if there is. What a time that was.
One of the craziest things that I remember from back then was that this group was from London
Bell Biv Devoe - Poison
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@jeter274I mean if we gonna do all ghat why suggest any songs? 99% of the songs we suggesting were too 10 hits at some point bruh
@@jeter274 besides…the twinz did that sing and had never heard it and they cousins with Recklezz so makes sense
If you ever watched Belly the movie you definitely heard this song the beginning part specifically.
Their song keep on movin . Awesome
By far one of the hottest 80s dance tracks. Still a bop.
This song still hits just as hard as it did 3 decades ago!
Another classic they hard was called keep on moving
My son says to this day...he knows when I'm cleaning house. 🤣🤣🤣🤣Got them 80s and 90s hits going!
these cats were essential to the founding of what is modern day House music. LOVE em!
? You mean modern RnB
The ultimate banger. Keep On Movin is another jam from them worth checking out. Also check out Tennessee by Arrested Development, Watching You by Loose Ends and Say I'm Your Number One by Princess!
“All Good” by De La Soul should be next!!! You’ll LOVE it! ❤️
Dude with the key board killin it lmao 🙌🏽
Ha ha, I remember singing this all the time in Y6 in primary school. Drove my parents nuts
Awesome thanks. That's London England soul. Check out Junior, Loose Ends, SADE,etc
Don't forget the more underground stuff out of our good ole UK 😉 loads of other stuff too
Soul 2 soul rnb group from UK. 1989. No.1 at 6 weeks in chart in uk was BIG back in the day still sound good even NOW ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🌹👌🏾
RIP caron wheeler the lead singer of this track. We love you and miss you.
This was no.1 song and will be at the top songs even now still
Ah my first ever holiday tune!Still love it xx
Bought the cassette on Columbia records😂1 cent, still have it, and have the Vinyl. One of my all time favorites!❤
What a classic this is.
Jazzie's Groove is the real gem off all this. Check it out if you don't know it. Keep on doing your thing. Peace.
This still slaps. Such a vibe!
Facts! Whole Sunday out the window ....cleaning day lol
great 90s song! yall should check out Lisa Stansfield " been around the world" it's fantastic!
Not my scene back then, but a great sounding track I recall hearing...somewhere...or everywhere.
Iconic song, iconic music video.
Check out African Dance by Soul to Soul. Caron Wheeler had a solo album on which there was a great single, IMHO. The song is named Blue Is the Color of Pain. As far as Soul II Soul, check out two other tracks they made. Keep On Movin' and Jazzie's Groove. When their music played it was like the warm sun came out on the dance floor. Everybody got on the floor to bathe in their music, filled with positive energy.
Agree with many comments on this one, but as a baby boomer would respectfully argue that five decades of really great secular music (1950 to close of 1999) intertwined and evolved, especially R&B, classic rock, blues, country. The music beginning in 2000 began to change (good or bad?).
Ok so 1989 was for us in the UK the 2nd summer of love we were still breaking into empty warehouses and putting illegal parties on for thousands of people every weekend all up and down the country there were ilegal parties as well as in farmers fields all over the country with upto 20,000 people attending my point is I was at energy and Richie fingers dropped this tune and the whole warehouse went mental a seriously amazing time in history and if you were part of it like me you were truly blessed 🙏
Soul to soul was a movement. Listen to What’s the meaning of life. Glad I grew up then. No phone distractions and innocent dancehall dancing and asking a friend to ask a girl does she like you. 😂😂😂
She just rocked back in forth in her chair and the music not effecting her AT ALL WTH
I love British bands
Great Song Takes Me Back Evertime I Hear This.
I remember being at my sister house as a teenager hearing this for the first time and went and bought the single
Check out the group called, Loose Ends, their song called, Slow Down.
Even better than Slow Down I'd recommend (from the same album), Nights of Pleasure. Also Hanging on a String (Contemplating), Gonna Make You Mine, Don't Be a Fool....major underrated group.
The weirdest part for me is finding out as I got older that this is a British group. Nothing about this song, the style or the setting for the video screams 'British' at me. As I Brit I was convinced this was a West Coast band.
This was the british club sound at the time if it was non-rave.
Seriously? This song was so proper 'London' at the time, it's unreal!
@@funkg We dont know where phil is from though...
Arrested Development Mr. Wendal
Yes yes yes!!!
👏🏻👏🏻
How do you listen to this and not move??? We danced the mess out of this song when it came out. Still cant keep my head still when I hear it.
The strings are from The Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra.
You can’t beat 80’s you just can’t
Get into that New Jack Swing Era if you have not already.....
Guy - Groove Me, My Fantasy, Goodbye Love, Piece Of My Love...
BBD - I Thought It Was Me, Poison, Do Me Baby
Their music was LIT!!
You gotta do some Erica Badu "CALL TYRONE" and "ON AND ON"
Killer cut!! By the way your girl ALMOST moved with the beat finally... ALMOST!! LOL!!
THe extended version of that song WAS THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEESTTTTTT
The beginning of the movie Belly!!
Effing epic!!!
Great vibe from back in the day. Gotta say though you got a lot to learn young fella about treating and respecting ladies. If yo lady play the violin( a very difficult instrument indeed) show some props, don't put her on the spot. Used to groove all night long on Soul II Soul...Cheers Mate!!
This was HUGE in the UK back in the day.
Got the 20 min version ......... this song is BAD ASS!!
I'm glad some of the younger generations are finally finding this music...maybe they can find some inspiration in it...
i remember buying this single when it came out. quality
soul britain
React to king von dont wanna be me also broke opps most raw songs👍🏽💯🔥
"ORANGE BLOSSOMS SPECIAL" CHARLIE DANIELS BAND,,BLUEGRASS, ALOT OF FIDDLE PLAYING IN THE SONG,,Hear the difference
I once knew a woman that was a philharmonic skin flute player. She was also proficient with the sexaphone, strongbone and meat whistle. Good times!
Yesss! Back to Life & Keep on Moving. Love your vid:)
Check out their groove Keep On Movin '.
Krys was A-1 with her violin. 🎻❤️😍

Everytime I hear this song I think of the movie Belly 💪🏾
My favorite song from them is "get a life".
