  • Install at your own risk. I take no responsibility for the update of your system. This is the process that I performed on my system without any issues.
Jim (Apple Juice) from Pinside has created an update to Revenge From Mars. Apple Juice is calling it RFM 2.0. He changed and added some things to the game which makes it a bit more enjoyable for a 20 year old game. In this video I am showing how to install the update to a Pinbox system. This upgrade process should apply to both Nucore and Pinbox since they both run on the same type of system.

I just grabbed the rfm! I'd love to update this on it! Thanks for sharing!

Awesome, congrats on the RFM. Thanks for watching the vid and commenting. I haven't updated to the newest version as of yet. The older updates were great. Worth trying.

Thanks ... now it's already 2.0 ... some extras added ... this is fantastic after 20 years modify a software that in my opinion still has much more to show ... imagine only what can be done yet with the code of the game.

Really cool mod. I believe I got them from the same person that did the RFM updates. Don't know if he is still selling them.

Can you do this within Window 10? Or do you need a dedicated Linix/Unix OS? I’m new on this one, but want to proceed. Basically, can I do this within windows ?

You need to do this with a Unix box something like Umbutu which is a flavor of Unix. That is what I used.

How do you boot your RFM at your desk without it starting the game? How do you get to the file manager?

Paul, thanks for watching the video. It's been so long since I did this I don't remember everything I did , but when the computer boots to the RFM or SWEP1 launch, I show where i disable the autolaunch files so it doesn't go into the pinball launch screen until I want to enable it again. I would need to look at the computer to give you a more factual answer unfortunately because it has been so long since I did this. I say in the video to hit the F1 key when you get to the pinball menu after launch. I think it brings you back to the file explorer within Umbuntu. Then I go into settings within Umbuntu to enable the right click to show the file explorer menu . Again its been so long i would need to look at it. I talk about it at the 8:05 mark in the video.

Have you done the 2.1 update?

I haven't as of yet. Maybe when I get some time I will do the update. A lot of changes in the 2.1 version compared to the 2.0

Can this run on original hardware? I still have the old cpu/prism card.

Richard, thanks for watching the video. Someone on Pinside posted on a blog talking about the update the conventional way. Here is the link and also what he wrote. I do not know if it works because I have not tried it myself. Use at your own discretion. Thanks .

Here’s how I did it with a win10 64 bit machine with serial port, serial cable, and null modem:
      Make a new folder: c:/p2k
Download fupdate from brianpeek.com/downloads/projects/fupdate.zip and extract to c:/p2k
Download v2.10 software update from mypinballs.com and extract it to c:/p2k
Power up RFM - just let it boot up normally - don’t use coin door buttons - just normal boot up, open coin door, connect null modem to port at coindoor, connect serial cable to null modem, and other end of serial cable to computer.
      Run command prompt as administrator
      Type: cd c:/p2k
      Type: fupdate -fpin2000_50070_0210_ COM1
      RFM should start updating!
Sit back and watch the progress bar till complete!

FYI - there is no such thing as pinbox. It’s literally Nucore that some inept hacker changed a few names =)

@@pinballsupernova that makes two of us. If you’re going to steal something using Linux make sure to clear your bash history before you release the distro =)
