Thank you for your eloquent and detailed review... not many people are able to see the tech behind an object (in this case the shoes)... always a joy to watch your videos...
I have use this shoe for months now, it works well for daily 45-60 minute endurance run…but last Sunday, I try to do long run for HM preparation, I aim for 2 hours of Zone 2 run, HR 130-140, cadence 165-175, and got a steady pace at 7:00-7:30 km/min..relatively slow I know..I’m a regular cyclist that does Zone 2 riding for 2-4 hors, so this 2 hours long easy run is a breeze for my body, but it’s a different story for my leg…after 75-90 minutes, I feel the forefoot starts to bottoming and loose it’s cushion..and my right foot starts to go all over the place with it’s stride, so I have to work hard to keep it consistent..and after 1:45 both leg just give up, HR and body feels fine, but leg just can’t move anymore… So I can’t use this for a long long run, at least for now at my current running level..would you recommend me to get other long distance trainer for 2 hour and above long easy run? And which one? In my current rotation, my only other trainer is Endorphine speed 3 (bought it on a steep discount), I don’t know wether it would help me for long 2 hours run, other shoes are takumi 8, adios 8, and metaspeed (sky + and edge paris)
I’ve done many 90-100min runs in the SNR and have no issues. In fact I’d have no issue bringing my it to a 3 hour of 32k run in a marathon build. Stay, consistent and cushioned through the entire run. Odd how our experiences differ so much. Two options I’d recommend for a long slow run…. The Supernova Prima, if you are a forefoot or midfoot striker. Or the Superblast 2. Your ES3 is worth a try but I do find the foam in the shoe really looses its life after 90mins or so. Your other shoes won’t work well, unless you need to do some marathon pace efforts in the long run.
@@SagasuRunning I guess at 171 cm, 69 kg, and less then perfect running mechanics on the right foot, we require different level of support…I haven’t looked at it but my guess is, ground contact time, body weight, and overall “springyness” of a runner determines how the foam behave, maybe I just put too much load on it and cause it to bottom out sooner…thanks for the recommendation anyway 🙏🏼
I’m looking forward to your review of Adistar Beyond when it releases. I’m a little intrigued between these two running shoes, which I’m on the fence. 😅
I'm oddly intrigued by it too. It's TOTALLY not the type of shoe I like...but something appeals to me with it, even just to try it. I'll see what I decide once it's available here.
Have you tried the Supernova Solution? From what I heard, they worked on the stability, middle sole is even firmer than the Supernova Rise, the shoe is a little wider than the Rise.. It would be good to have this shoe, as I don't like too soft running shoes..
Nope, I don't need a stability shoe and never run in them. If you don't like soft running shoes, then any Supernova is not for you. Dreamstrike+ foam is soft overall.
Very interesting! I understand you prefer lower, firmer shoes for daily training, and so do I. The thing is that I hate Puma Velocity Nitro and I'm looking for an alternative for my Peg 37, specially for longer runs (I'm a forefoot striker and weigh 74kgs, never had an injury and like to feel the ground). I never tried Novablast and there's a good deal on it right now. It would be an obvious choice at the price, but I know Adizero SL2 is coming up soon, which could be a good alternative. Do you think the Supernova Rise (which is more expensive than the Novablast on sale at this point in Brazil) could be a nice alternative? Great job! Happy running!
The SNR will feel too soft for you. It's a good analog to the Streakfly in feel. For easy running I like to have a soft and flexible option. If you are looking for an analog from the Peg37, I think that will likely be the SL2. I need to run in it but early reviews and the tech in the show both confirm it should be closer to that. The NB4 will feel like too much foam. It's fun shoe, which I like quite a bit, but I always reach for the SNR over it.
The Invicible 3 is cheaper than the NB4 now and the Supernova Rise is about 2/3 the price of the other two ones in Brazil. I just can’t decide which will be best for long runs.
@@ucatani The SNR is the best durability of those three for me. The shoe is a tank… but I still think it may be too soft for you. The Invincible 3 is very durable as well.
Have you tried the Adizero SL 2 yet ? It would be great if you can compare Supernova Rise vs SL 2.0. I am surprised that the list price of SL 2.0 is cheaper than Supernova Rise while SL2 has full length of LightStrike Pro in the mid foam embedded by LightStrike 2.0. I have tried SL2 and find that the heel is not very stable compared with Supernova Rise and SL1. 😊
Of all the current brands from China… that’s the very last one I will have access too. They are very rare here in Taiwan, but Xtep has dig itself quite a hole recently… I have some lines of communication open… we will see what comes of it. There is a 361 and Li Ning shoe I would love to try…
@@SagasuRunning makes sense. 361 has solid ones too and some are insanely cheap carbon plated shoes. Some are around 60-80$ here in the Philippines during sale
Do you feel a rotation around Rise, Boston 12 and possible Adios 8 covers most bases? Adidas has some new models for higher stack and/or plated shoes but if Rise covers easy paces, Adios/Takumi Sen speed work and Boston long runs I feel like there is little to be gained from buying anything else from that company for the time being. I wonder how SL2 will fit the rotation because it might cannibalize Adios 8 for speedier traning? Rise feels a bit weird in the heel when walking because it pushes the foot laterally but for running it seems fine. I believe this is why some people might find the shoe's heel clunky at first. It seems that discounts for this shoe are starting to pop up so your review is just in time to pull the trigger. Thanks!
That’s a good rotation. Most things are covered. I’m currently using a SNR/TS10/AP3 core rotation covering the same ground. I need to run in the SL2…. Once it’s a available in Taiwan… I’ll be on it. I have some thoughts as to what it will be good for and possibly cannibalize but need to spend some time in them to confirm.
I was surprised by this review. I didnt expect the plaudits. How would you compare it to a Boston 12 and Adizero SL? Also, can the Supernova handle 30+ km per run?
The SNR and the B12 are totally different class shoes, but they are great training companions. The longest run I have done in the SNR is 21-22k, but I'd have no issue taking it to 30k.
I got my son a pair, and he had a problem with outsole mid separation in the medial and lateral forefoot edge, which he asked me to fix in both shoes (forefoot striker) . Did you experience the same? BTW he loves them
Heard your first line, want to buy immediately lol. How would you compare this form to LSP on B12 or AP3? Understand the stack height is very different but that doesn't sound like a major differentiator to you. And curious what's the longest mile you'd take this for a single run before you feel more stack height is needed?
Apple to oranges comparison. LSP doesn’t compare to Dreamstrike+. One is a race foam and the other is a training specific foam. I love them both but there is no overlap. Also the Supernova is not a Adizero shoe… so very different purposes The longest run I’ve done in the SNR was 22k. I’d have no issues taking these to 25-30k for a long slow run. Absolutely no issues. The bulk of my runs in them have been 14-17k.
@@SagasuRunning I just got my SL2 and thought I'd share some experience for your upcoming review FWIW. The midsole is very good (thinking of it as a softer and more enjoyable version of Mach 6). The upper is also very comfy but it has a fatal (for my feet, which is between E and 2E) - it gives me blisters on the medial side of my big toe bunion area every time. The upper material is much softer than B12 (which also gives be blisters) and even AP3 (which I actually never had this issue, now AP3 has other issues with their upper for me but that's not relevant here). Upon a detailed check, I noticed the issue is at the part here the upper connects with the midsole, on the inner side of the shoe - the midsole (or maybe insole) has a "wall" like flare up and connects with the upper. That "wall" is kinda stiff and is what causes the rubbing. AP3 actually doesn't have this issue (completely flat and the upper just wraps around the bed of the midsole/insole).
It’s gunna be hard to decide between this Prima and the SL2. I wonder if Prima is better for me being 6’3 215. Fortunately I live 2 hours from Portland where the adidas “employee” store has everything 50% off… not that I NEED more adidas shoes.
It’s a nice drive down to Portland… especially form the north and east…. Just saying. I’m going to get to the bottom of which one is best. Though my hypothesis currently is each will be best for a certain type of runner…. But I’m still going to crown one a “winner at year end in my “best of” content. So much review and vs content coming over the next 30-45 days. It’s going to be ridiculous. Stay tuned.
Got the Supernova Rise. After one run it think it’s awesome. Definitely do not need the Prima. I’m surprised how cushioned it is at the with that stack height. The Dreamstrike+ is awesome! Really glad you gave such a positive review of this shoe because it was a little lukewarm in other reviews.
@@TroySpringer11 Right? It's very surprising how it feels on foot giving how low the stack is. Best of both worlds, flexibility/ground feel and cushion...usually things that don't go together. The other great thing is how consistent the shoe has been and how that feel has held up over 200 miles+.
Hey Chris, Every time I look at this shoe I constantly worry about the forefoot bottoming out as I’m a heavier (85KG) forefoot striker. I’ve had to retire numerous soft running shoes that had a sub 30mm stack in the forefoot as they all bottomed out on me. Do you feel like the foam is resilient enough to be able to handle it?
Try the Puma Magnify Nitro 2. I weigh 90kgs and have had no problems. The Puma foam is resilient, stable and responsive. Also you get Puma grip which is durable and gives excellent traction.
@@RichardHitchcock-ig4lj I was actually going to mention the Nitro foam. I’ve heard on many occasions that the super critical foams like in the Puma Nitro foam and Brooks’ DNA loft V3 are ones that don’t bottom out.
I weight around 75-77kg...and I have no issues with this shoe bottoming out, even after 200miles. That being said the Solution or the Prima (if you are a mid to forefoot striker) may be better options.
The thing about the Supeenova Rise is there is so soft and accommodating that it really doesn’t feel like a 10mm drop shoe, though it also won’t feel like a 6mm drop shoe either.
@@SagasuRunning i have a pair myself but after one run my knees hurt so much that i relegated them to dog walking shoes and honestly they're amazing for that. sticking with the other 6mm drop adizero shoes for actual running

I must admit I am STILL holding out on these to hear about the SL2, but now that early reports suggest that shoe runs narrow, I may go this way.
I know there is a wide version of the SNR, but it's a very generous fit, not just for an Adidas shoe. I will compare the fit directly between the SNR and SL2 just as soon as I can get a pair of SL2s.
Thanks for the review, how would you compare them to the Novablast 4? Im still debating on which one to keep.
The NB4 is the only max cushioned trainer that remotely comes close to the SNR… but, without a doubt, I’ll pick the SNR (and have). I run in the NB4 last week, to refresh my memory of the shoe for this review.
There’s no match… for me the SNR is light years ahead, better geometry, better foam, better ride… (and I like the NB4 a lot)
Thank you for your eloquent and detailed review... not many people are able to see the tech behind an object (in this case the shoes)... always a joy to watch your videos...
@@The_Connected_Universe Thank you. I appreciate the support and feedback. 💪🏻
I have use this shoe for months now, it works well for daily 45-60 minute endurance run…but last Sunday, I try to do long run for HM preparation, I aim for 2 hours of Zone 2 run, HR 130-140, cadence 165-175, and got a steady pace at 7:00-7:30 km/min..relatively slow I know..I’m a regular cyclist that does Zone 2 riding for 2-4 hors, so this 2 hours long easy run is a breeze for my body, but it’s a different story for my leg…after 75-90 minutes, I feel the forefoot starts to bottoming and loose it’s cushion..and my right foot starts to go all over the place with it’s stride, so I have to work hard to keep it consistent..and after 1:45 both leg just give up, HR and body feels fine, but leg just can’t move anymore…
So I can’t use this for a long long run, at least for now at my current running level..would you recommend me to get other long distance trainer for 2 hour and above long easy run?
@TheCyclingCardio ground contact and vertical movement definitely do. Though I’m 175cm/75kg’ish….
@@SagasuRunning not that much different
I’m looking forward to your review of Adistar Beyond when it releases. I’m a little intrigued between these two running shoes, which I’m on the fence. 😅
I'm oddly intrigued by it too. It's TOTALLY not the type of shoe I like...but something appeals to me with it, even just to try it. I'll see what I decide once it's available here.
It looks like Adidas is rocking this last time with the daily trainers after years doing almost nothing. Adizero SL2 is getting excellent reviews too
Agree… they are coming strong in 2024 on the trainer side…
The SL2 is not released yet here in Taiwan. As soon as it is I'll be making many comparisons videos with it.
I hope you try Xtep shoes too since their top shoes have been making quite a lot of buzz lately
Of all the current brands from China… that’s the very last one I will have access too. They are very rare here in Taiwan, but Xtep has dig itself quite a hole recently…
I have some lines of communication open… we will see what comes of it.
I can get the Peg 41 for 30% off unsure if its worth it...
I’ll be starting in on them tomorrow… my guess is that it will be worth it.
Hell yeah 30% off. I’ll snag a pair in a heartbeat. 😮
This or the Velocity Nitro 3?
Stay tuned for my next video... a "SNR vs VN3" comparison.
@@SagasuRunning that's sounds great.
@SagasuRunning can you please elaborate?
@@harmony-one741 elaborate on?
I got my son a pair, and he had a problem with outsole mid separation in the medial and lateral forefoot edge, which he asked me to fix in both shoes (forefoot striker) . Did you experience the same? BTW he loves them
I've had none of those issues. I expected some outsole issues given all the exposed seams, but I've had none.
Hi, this shoe requires half or full size above? Or your casual sizing fits confortable enough to trainning purposes? tks
TTS for me. The same size I wear in all other Adidas Running or casual shoes….
Also the Supernova is not a Adizero shoe… so very different purposes
The longest run I’ve done in the SNR was 22k. I’d have no issues taking these to 25-30k for a long slow run. Absolutely no issues.
The bulk of my runs in them have been 14-17k.
@@SagasuRunning Thanks. Would love to hear you talk about SL 2 when it comes and how you view this vs that 🤘
@@dynamike9248 definitely will do that. Stay tuned! 🤙🏻
Thank you for these notices. I’ll pay attention to these areas when I finally get a pair.
Stay tuned.
@@SagasuRunning oh I know.. and I’m excited to hear your thoughts.
Plans on grabbing the SL2 and the supernova prima?
SL2 definitely, as soon as it’s released here in Taiwan. Prima… unlikely, but never saying never. I’m more interested in the Adistar BYD.
Would you recommend the Nimbus or Supernova Rise to rotate with my Superblast and Takumi Sen?
Thats not even a choice....SNR all the way.
Will you be getting the peg 41?
Yup… starting in on them tomorrow. Stay tuned.
@@SagasuRunning can’t wait!
Hey Chris,
Every time I look at this shoe I constantly worry about the forefoot bottoming out as I’m a heavier (85KG) forefoot striker.
Agree on the Puma foams!
8mm drop destroys my knees. i can barely get to 10km with the supernovas which isnt the case with bostons, adios pro 3 or prime x 2
Good thing then that there are plenty of good 5-6mm drip options out there right now.
How would you compare it to the Velocity Nitro 3?
my next video will be a "vs" between the SNR and VN3...stay tuned...
UB 19 & 21 were FIRM, & I sold them after 1 run. idk if I trust adidas
Adidas, across the board, is softening all of their shoes.
Chat this or SL 2?
I haven't run in the SL2 yet, its not released here in Taiwan. As soon as it is though, I'll be making quite a bit of content on it and comparisons....the SNR is just one of many.
clever thumbnail;)
Ha...thank you. 🙏🏻 (My old copywriting skills are still there I guess)
nah i mean how u set up the shoe, daily shoe vibe
Is this a good running shoe for Beginners? I am looking for good comfort
It is a very good shoe for beginners. One of the best you can choose actuality.
@SagasuRunning Thank you for the reply. At this price point, there is also the Asics Novablast 4. Which one would you recommend please?
I've made the same volume of km on them, and I agree with all your thoughts, but I would like to know your opinion about using them for long runs (more than 20 km). Do you think the stack height should be enough or the Prima could be better for this purpose? I'm also considering the SL2, or buy another pair of Boston 12... Waiting for your opinion on the SL2 as soon as you test them
The longest run I’ve done in them was 22k…. Most of my running in them has been 14-17k… I’d have absolutely no issues taking these up to 30k for a long slow run.
I’ll be on the SL2 as soon as I can get a pair… cannot wait!
On an average run, how many km/mi do you run on these? Also, what is the longest distance you've ran on these? Thank you.
The longest run in them has been 21-22km. Most runs I've done in them have been 14-17km.
@@SagasuRunning Thank you, sir
How does the outsole perform on a wet road surface?
I live in Taipei, Taiwan. It's ALWAYS wet here. I've had zero problems in the rain or wet roads/concrete.
How does it compare to Boston 12?
They don't. Totally different class of shoe. However, the SNR and B12 form a nice little rotation together that ticks most boxes...
Vomero!!
The SNR is a much better shoe. Night and day better… even when the V17 wasn’t giving my foot issues (I have a video on that) I still was reaching for the SNR over it…
