This seems like it'd be too heavy to keep in a bug-out/get home bag but would probably make the perfect camp or keep in a car/truck tarp

Yes, perfect tarp for a vehicle. I have it attached to my bushcraft pack which I never have to carry to far. Easy to get my 4x4 into some really remote places. It is very enjoyable to use by a fire,
