Celery makes for good bone breaks and Lettuce ripping makes for good flesh tearing. Punch a steak or slap it for "meaty" whollops.
Personally, I’ve heard that breaking bone makes a good celery breaking sound myself.
Bell peppers are also exceptionally useful, I've seen in recording sessions for the sounds of torn flesh. Walnuts being cracked also helps with bones.
Fart through a mesh chair for the sound of someone farting through a mesh chair.
Slap your thighs for a 😏 scene
I have ears and I must not hear.
You're not alone. No one is bready for the cleanup.
Bread is a joke for the cool people
what a horrible bun
😑
Breadtaking joke!
I am bready to die
It's always fun learning about SFX. I remember watching a BTS of an animated movie when I was a kid, there were two people on a sound stage with a small crate of just random objects and toys. That was their tools for SFX. Blew my mind as a kid.
A lot of the impact and explosion sound effects for Halo 3 were just Bungie staff members destroying the original xbox's they used to test builds of Halo 2.
Warthogs crashing into solid objects was an xbox being smashed with a sledgehammer, for example.
Don’t you hate it when crunchy bread has better sound quality than your own microphone made in 2019?
Hoot: I have done nothing but record bread for three days
“Where have you been recording it?”
*Hoot’s kitchen is destroyed, as a rye bread demon tears through his house, demanding the celiac’s souls (this is a joke, do NOT take it seriously)*
My man clearly knows what he is doing
He clearly isn't ready for the consequences
Hoot will always manage to find a new way to surprise and amuse us.
Edit: Okay why am I so famous? I speak like a bot and then poof. Thank you guys.
indeed
I hate how my brain read amuse us as among us

I am deeply envious of foaley artists. They get to wack random stuff and make cool noises for a living.
This man can make anything entertaining. HOW!? Hoot should do a whole series where he just narrates some legendary figure doing mundane chores. Imagine the Emperor of Mankind changing a diaper or Captain Piccard doing something with his dress uniform, shinning boots or whatever.
I always love how Hoot's jokes never get stale!
He knows how to crack a joke
Real sound design is done with random objects! Love the creativity on this one
Hoot being a responsible adult.
Cleaning up after himself.
Noice.
Reminds me of Project Zomboid, as that game hired a studio to help them come up with all of their sound effects for the game.
It's a small thing, but having lots of custom sound effects can be really immersive.
Didn't know that, thanks for the tip! 🤜
@@Hoot Indeed, I think they started using sound effects the studio "Noise Works" sometime after Feb 25th 2021 (that's when they made the announcement, but I doubt it started immediately). I'd link the announcement, but last time I did that it got rid of my comment. (Should be easy enough to find though).
Anyway, no prob on the tip. Keep up the great work.
who knew bread could make such a bone crunching sound?
Edit:Thank y'all for the likes! most i ever got before this was 38
Cream Crackers have the same effect.
bones
Rye did.
Sound design is a wonderful thing... Also,
Bread 👍

The art foley and sound design something ive been fascinated with ever since qatching those little behind the scenes featurettes on the SW Republic Commandos game.
When I saw how creative they got with making certain sounds that appeared in game, it blew mind. It's like finding out that the iconic blaster sounds from Star Wars are just a dude hitting a piece of thick steelwire with a hammer or finding out that the hydraulic sound of Forerunner doors opening in Halo are just some dude recording the hydraulic pumps on his hatchback.
The "subspecies" part has me laughing uncontrollably every time
Who knew Hoot was also a Foley artist? Very cool.
That’s more than making a video, that’s awesome art man!
This is perfect. Like a piece of art, a beautiful video, that can be cut to memes. Thank you for you amazing work!
Every video, there are certain perfectly timed pauses you can do to create images for “reactions” (stickers). I’ve saved many over the years.
This video has given me 8.
Crunchy Rye Bread and stiff veggies like celery or carrots are now what I have heard and seen people make C R U N C H noises.
Awesome video. Always find interesting how different sound effects are made in ways you wouldn't expect
Haha, love seeing how the sausage is made mate.
Holy shit the dedication and imagination of this dude never ceases tu surprise
that last clip is exactly why I subbed, keep it up Hoot
Grat video, i love how a lot of sound for games and videos are made. But im afraid that i will never unhear this bread.
Very _adoughrable_ and inspiring video xD
**Cleaning exist*
Hoot : *"This is where the funs begin"*
Thanks so much for showing the magic. Your sound design is beautiful 🎉🎉🎉
That reverb's what really makes it, almost sounds like biting into the center of melting ice
I love this little behind the scenes and you're such a goofball I laughed so hard
sound design is such an odd thing, you get so many interesting noises from the most mundane things
ngl, thats ingenuity at its finest
This is so amaxing it's basically professional work ahah
Learning HOW this sort of stuff is made is incredibly interesting. Thank you.
The Behind the Scenes we needed
Bread is now officially an instrument
Foley sound effects summed up. You'll be amazed of some of the objects they used to make certain sounds in animation.
This is the most creative ways that no one expected
the amount of effort u put into these shorts is nothing but spectacular... and I'm certain time consuming.
Something I didn’t know I needed
Absolute mad lad
In the Star Wars game: Republic Commando, they had a little 'behind the scenes' area of the game with videos about how they did certain things.
One of the techniques showcased was using two halves of a pineapple and tapping them on the ground, fruity side down, to make the squishy footstep sounds for the Geonosians.
Great game, loved it as a kid. Super battle droid sounds still haunt me in my dreams.
@@Hoot The derelict Republic Cruiser where you lose your squad mates for a couple of missions was genuinely scary at the time.
This is, of course, also tied with my favorite quote in the game.
"sHoTgUnS!?!? I dIdN'T tHiNk AnYoNe UseD BalLisTic WeApOnS AnyMore!"
Never underestimate a lizard with an 8 gauge. The utter audacity!
The cleanup is always longer than the having fun part.
Glorious!
You are a Foley Artist in the truest sense of the word
What a genius. Making his own sounds
Wicked stuff, shows that the best sounds in movies come from the most innocuous things.
This reminds me of a show I watched once that showed how sound effects were done for movies.
I think it was movie magic or something.
Really cool stuff, showed the aliens and avp movies and the minatures used for the troop carrier and the whaler village destruction scenes.
Bro just casually became a Foley artist
That is some impressive Foley work
The mythical and mystical hapankorppu, gift from Ukko, a legendary student's bread substitute.
There are so many cool sources of sound effects. I recommend the short video on the sound effects from Halo.
Hoot! I'm glad you pronounce throw as throw and not as trow. You are perfect!
amazing hoot
Foley artists do some of the best production voodoo on the planet. You, sir, have made this glorious tradition proud.
Bread MVP
Foley work is such a trip.
A really *fun* part cameo over here
With all that new knowledge, I need to watch that video again!
The fun part is, this is the exact same for game studios and movie studios. They want a cool sound, they'll do stuff like stab watermelons with pie slicers and tear apart lobsters to make the sounds they need. Thus, hoot works at either a game studio or a movie studio
That looks like Finn Crisp, a real good choice there Hoot.
Satisfying and it just hits that spot
You think he will catch you off gaurd...then he does it in such a way that you were expecting not to expect it but he still gets the expected unexpected
Genius sound design
Mindblowing
Love the fun part
ah, a lovely introduction to the art of Foley.
the fun part sounds especially funny
There was a Mythbusters episode where they were playing around with recreating movie sounds, one of them being a classic punch. One of the techniques used to simulate bone breaking was crunching walnuts.
The ad I got started with you have no idea 😂😂😂😂
Bro Ragdolled as soon as his animation was finished playing.
I appreciate the fact that he didn't go on the internet for these sounds and made them himself. True dedication to the job.
I like this behind the scenes look
Now THIS
Is what makes quality content
inspirational
That's absurdly cool
Foley artists I swear
"You clearly must be single."
Excellent!
Bro made his own Foley! That is awesome!
All right this is officially the most st cursed video of hoots, no shot he can top this
Just learned Hoot is to SFX as Gordon Ramsey is to cooking. My response is “an audiophile’s 👍” to a “chef’s kiss” sound.
Hoot is quite the hoot.
More behind the scenes videos would be cool
Last part got me 😂
Holy shit, you just outsmarted the entire foley artist industry!
He is such a hoot!
a piece of bread yet so simple yet so complicated
Now animate yourself teleporting bread
never except that coming. 😂
I fucking can't with this guy, everything he uploads is funny and well made one way or another.
Lulz 😆😂 try eggshells next time, I think they would work well 😁👍
Thanks for always making me laugh 😂👍
Christopher Nolan: Train driving through cars! Real bombs exploding.
Hoot:
no loafing around you really proved your self. BREAD WORDPLAY
the most chad of all the carbohydrates... you have inspired me to hit the like button on videos again🎉
That type of bread is great!
Hes evolving!!!

Stray breadcrumbs, my bane in movie snacking.
