I love, love, love the woodcock! I hope I’ll see one someday. I’m just loving your videos. Impressive how well you know the bird calls. Ive been working on that, but it’s hard! ~new subscriber
A truly unique species! It is always a red letter day when I get to see one and not just hear it. Keep working on those bird calls! It takes a lot of time and experience.
I came for the warbler clips, and stayed for Sparky's inimitable mnemonics. Thank you Sparky for doing the hard work 😅 of getting such beautiful video and sound clips. I took the lazy man's approach this past weekend by kayaking out to the island in the middle of Pequaywan Lake and pulling out Merlin Bird app to ID warblers by sound profile (Blackburnian, Ovenbird, Magnolia, Chesnut-sided, Black and White).
Thanks, Bob! You’ve actually reminded me that I was going to include a segment on Merlin… I used it at the Connecticut Warbler spot and it was pretty amazing.
Fun bog warbler tour! I was recently there for a couple days and got ~13sp. (Recorded on ebird anyway). I’m impressed with your 18! I did get Palm though😉 (at Yellow-bellied bog walk)
Well done, indeed, Sparky. Koochiching County has 25 regularly occurring warbler species. I built a collection of high-resolution photos of, mainly, breeding males. It took me years! So, I know of the challenges you faced. 😊
Thanks, Al! I guess you’re talking about breeders and migrants… Correct? Congratulations on getting good photos of all of them! That is certainly not an easy chore.
@@SparkyStensaas Yes, both. Looking at warbler nesting occurrence maps indicates our county is under-represented, as in other things. Species records are all around us, but not shown here. So, it’s a matter of conjecture which species actually nest here.
I think Black throated Olive Warbler would be a good replacement if im being honest, yellow green mixed together is close to an Olvie color. Congrats on you Connecticuit thats a really good bird, im new to your channel but you put out really good content! Keep it up Sparky!
The Connecticut is the only warbler out of the 36 eastern ones I haven't got. They are like a needle in a hay stack here in East Tennessee. I keep looking though lol
@SparkyStensaas love your videos, headed to SE Arizona in July and have watched all three of your videos from out there like a 100 times so I'm ready lol
Hi Rusty and Debbie! Our busiest season is winter from mid December to late February. When people come for the Greg Gray Owls, Northern, Hawk Owls, winter, finches, and other boreal birds. If you want to see warblers, the best is probably late May to mid June. To make the most of your trip always a good idea to hire a guide. Check out our website for more info www.saxzim.org.
Alesches Accomodations is the only lodging in the Bog. If you go on our website www.saxzim.org we have a whole section and lodging under “plan your trip“ tab.
Awesome virtual visit to the bog, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! The breeding warbler diversity is pretty incredible.
That was impressive!!
Thank you, Andrew!
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much.

Mucho gracias Pedro!
Thanks so much for posting this fabulous visual Warbler display. I do hope that you continue to post videos 😊
Thank you, Wendy! Many many more videos coming!
Beautiful video! How lucky to see / hear 18 in one place!! Warbler neck is a thing. 😅
It really is! Thanks for your kind words Tracy
Impressive species footage for one morning!
I was pretty happy with it, Kevin… The frustration level was high all morning though :-)
Photos are tough, can’t imagine video! Nice work
A zoom lens sure helps locate the birds :-) thanks!

Great clips of lots of warblers. I agree that warblers are challenging to video or photograph.
They are tough!

Thanks Curtis! Enjoyed your latest ND video! Never been to Lostwood

Pretty sure those wood ducks you saw are eclipse plumage males :) great footage!!
You are probably right! Thanks!

Hi Roger, they are phantoms during migration… That’s for sure! They are even tough here on the breeding grounds.

What is a good time for birding. Believe it's about 7 hours from our home in South Dakota, so need to do some planning for a long weekend RV trip.
