    Please note: There are several incorrect claims of larger cubes. If you read carefully about these puzzles you will see that they are either not functional or actually smaller (like the one in Michigan in April 2017). Mine holds the official world record which can be checked on the Guinness World Records website. Footage of my cube is available for license here- www.newsflare.com/video/73931/entertainment-arts/man-solves-worlds-largest-rubiks-cube

      Tony Fisher You cheated a little, you didn't create the world's largest rubick's cube. You simply created a very large interface to a smaller cube.

      No, the original cube was poorly designed, so he modified and rebuilt it quite a bit. He created the largest rubik's cube based on a smaller one, but not only an interface to an untouched smaller one.

  • @lichtsuchender
    @lichtsuchender 8 років тому +14

    I don't think, that an actual mechanism would have added much more weight, maybe 20% more.
    It was impressive to see, that this plastic cube survive this.

    • @TonyFisherPuzzles
      @TonyFisherPuzzles  8 років тому +5

      +lichtsuchender The issue with that is the material. Obviously you can't use cardboard so it would have to be wood or very thick plastic. Then it becomes much heavier.

    • @lichtsuchender
      @lichtsuchender 8 років тому +1

      +Tony Fisher you totally could use cardboard for this, the foam and tape reinforcements, that you have applied are more then enough. The core is the only part that would need the pipes and screws.
      I made a paper cube, regular size to be fair, but the core was the only critical part.

    • @TonyFisherPuzzles
      @TonyFisherPuzzles  8 років тому +2

      +lichtsuchender Cardboard isn't structurally strong enough for something this big and heavy. It would just crush after a few moves. Any minor misalignment puts huge stress on very small areas.

    • @TonyFisherPuzzles
      @TonyFisherPuzzles  8 років тому +5
