    Okay, that's kind of what I expected. It's still a really awesome puzzle though!

    I remember watching this as kid and having absolutely no idea what was going on but loving the idea of a "flat" and magnetic Rubik's cube

    Dang. The reverse April Fools joke was good. Did not see it coming. I thought it would be something like your 28x28 where you stickered it falsely.

    Tutorial:
    1-like a 3x3x1 Flopy, first complete the height side faces.
    2-In the central part, create your center like any big cube with an algorithm (r B r B r) if you only lack the center, rotate the M layer and you will see that the case of the H of a 3x3x1 Flopy appears in said center and complete it.
    3-When completing it, more cases will appear that are noticed in the center and they should only be solved until they are resolved.

    Magnets are cool and do the job. But I'm wondering... There must be some clever way to build a puzzle like this that doesn't come apart. I think perhaps it could be possible with more sophisticated cubies that have some kind of mechanism inside them, so that when they're freed on one side, they lock up on the other side. Like... if releasing tension on one hidden face of a cubie caused some hooks to come out on another side that would lock inside another specially modified cubie. I can't imagine exactly how that would have to be made and maybe it wouldn't be practical, but I don't think we should give up and say it can't be done. But you're right. It can't be done through conventional means. I'm simply trying to think of yet another cheat here. And I'm sure it can be done, but it might require an overly complicated design.

    I was very confused, because I didn't really think it was a joke, but you made it seem a lot like it was with your words like "impossible"

    • @TonyFisherPuzzles
      @TonyFisherPuzzles  8 років тому +5

      +XESCoolX "Impossible" was a reference to what other people have said about such puzzles. The English language is complex and words are often used in different ways to their actual meanings to convey a point. The Rubik's Cube for example was originally called the Magic Cube since it was not obvious how it worked. I doubt anyone thought it was actually magic.

      +TheNrp8598 Magnet cubes exist for a very long time , as far as I can remember the idea is from 1980, but it was 1995 until I saw a workable 3x3 magnet cube, which can also be used to a 5x5 grid.The innovative is in the look and feel of an actual 5x5x1 cube, not the idea though
