Coffee Im 19 and you saved me from a gambling addiction. I saw all these streamers making bank and while I knew it was fake money, they can’t fake the odds of the wins. So I started playing and lost all my money (5-8k about) and was going to put in my last 3 thousand when I started watching this series, it really put to light the struggles of gambling

Steve is a 22 year old naive young adult with a lack of life experiences and not enough good influences in his life. He basically went from bring a troubled teenager to being welcomed into the NELK fold and into a life of non-stop partying, booze, travel, gambling, etc. It's not surprising that he makes poor decisions.

I respect anybody in journalism that calls the people out that almost never get called out. Many companies never do anything to stop predatory practices until the negative attention starts costing more than those practices bring in in the first place. As an addict in recovery(6 years), you will NEVER get clean/stay sober/ or stop gambling if you don’t take ACCOUNTABILITY. Not saying Steve is completely innocent. But everyone needs to take accountability and stop playing the blame game.

The problem is that self exclusion is the first step to taking accountability. Removing yourself from the equation takes guts when you're that deep in. If a site doesn't have self exclusion, they're not allowing the most mentally warped players to choose not to play. It's like having heroin legally delivered to your home while you're in withdrawal.

That was me man. I was in debt 23k took out 3 loans and etc. such a reck man, I couldn't sleep, I barely had any sleep, was barely taking care of my family. Barely speaking to my wife, I had so much bad experiences and spent thousands ... i lost a lot man.
Got to remember, he is young, immature and saw a bunch of money super fast. His circle of influence was enjoying Steve’s financial windfall as we do know, he is very generous with that “found” money. EDIT: Steve is also one of those “victims” targeted by these crypto casinos.

Straight up, I didn't realize the severity of gambling addictions until self-exclusion and self-imposed restrictions were brought up. I don't know how I didn't make the connection before, and while I had an idea of how scummy these gambling sites are, this elevates it to a level of despicable I can't even communicate.
yeah i was the same way. the word unregulated didn’t really click until the self-exclusion stuff was brought up. like a regulated casino will ban you if they think u have a problem. these off shore casinos don’t give 2 shits about you or your problems.

@@Jmillz617 also with them being unregulated the casinos are under no obligation to have set payout/winner rules. Like on the back of a scratcher ticket it will say 1 in ever 3.7777 tickets is a winner. These casinos have no one watching them to see if they are paying out as much as they are suppose to.
Also regulated casinos dont just ban you if you have a bad problem you have to initiate the process and tell them you wish to be excluded.

I've never had a full blown gambling addiction, but I came close, I've felt that high of winning, that idea of "hitting it big" and it's fucking terrifying.
