I think he can very well write fiction. That said, he seems to be the most coherent and bright speaker in the panel.

History should be based on historical documents and not based on the story of any forward-castes or backward-castes or scheduled-castes etc because even Manu Pillai has attested to the fact that the terms Thalakaram (head tax) and Mulakaram (breast tax) were the names of the taxes as pertaining to the male and female labourers since the 9th century C.E in the historical accounts of Kerala but the film-makers all over India are now portraying pre-modern Kerala or Malabar as the land as governed by unjust rulers unlike elsewhere in south India all due to the bias historians of Kerala who support the stories of some backward-castes and scheduled-castes that their ancestors had to cut off their head and breast to protest against the head tax and breast tax in the 19th century when Swami Vivekananda himself has said that "In malabar (Kerala) the women lead in everything. Exceptional cleanliness is apparent everywhere and there is the greatest impetus to learning" (source - The complete works of Vivekananda vol.7)

Sir, Many caste-groups in Kerala and elsewhere in South India did not wear upper-garments until the 20th century . It was the British governor of Madras presidency in 1865 who passed a legislation to cover the breasts of all the women irrespective of their caste or religion. There are historical records of various occupational taxes as imposed on individuals by the Kings outside of Kerala in Indian history as well as For Example, the rulers of Tamil Nadu have also directed various taxation against individuals such as Thattanpattam (the Tax on Thattan), Ezhaputchi (The Tax on Ezhavas), Shanavari (The Tax on Shanars) etc in Tamil Nadu history as according to the Tamil Nadu historians themselves but nevertheless, numerous medieval travelers have also referred to the high economic prosperity of Malabar (Kerala) in India as well in history.
For Example: “Among all the places in the world I have seen none equal to the Port of Alexandria except Kawlam (Kollam in Kerala) and Calicut (Kozhikodu in Kerala) in India” - Ibn Battuta (14 century C.E)

What? You're literally wrong. Thalakarram and mulakaram were taxes on lower caste people, the idea was that lower caste people owed their body to serving upper caste. Lower caste people only needed their arms and legs, not brain or breast, that was the idea. It was factually a lower-caste tax. Only misinformation about mulakaram (breast tax) is that it was some sort of misogynist tax and that a feminist stood up to it. It was not about misogyny, it was about caste. Manu has said this very clearly multiple times. How did you twist this and somehow created another fake news? Not surprising cause savarnas and sanghis especially are constantly trying to rewrite factual history so desperately that they don't even hear the words clearly.

Unfortunately, the English speaking elite of brown-skinned toffs continue to ruthlessly exclude all others from practically all spheres of economic, political, and intellectual life. Therefore, people can't afford not to give a fuck about English, much as they might want to. Those who don't speak English are unaware of their economic clout. English pervades all levels of commercial life in India. I haven't seen a menu in any language other than English in any halfway decent restaurant in India, nor can you buy any appliance in India with instructions manual in any language other than English. Labels of cigarette packets, as well as the statutory warning, are only English, as are DVDs and CDs of music from Hindi films. And I can't see economic prosperity reaching beyond the English speaking cabal so long as the country is practically enslaved by English. A vast majority of people in Ireland and Wales have been speaking English for centuries, yet you hear more protests against dominance of English in Ireland and Wales than you do in India where no more than fifteen percent of people have any kind of comfort with English, and fifteen percent may be a gross overestimate.

Very good, engrossing session with everyone speaking very well and sharing interesting insights and stories. Vikram Sampath redeemed himself somewhat here, in my book.. but his recent petty and petulant utterances do not speak of objectivity that can be trusted. He is ready to do a lot of whitewashing of contemporary crimes by brushing them off lightly as a reaction to past injustices. No one except andh bhakts can be impressed with that part. I am not surprised that he is a darling of the extreme right. And he seems to revel in that ugly attention.
