Great job! I was waiting for this. That looked like a ton of work... just saying as I just recently updated my deck to all composite and loved some of your tips, especially the use of tape. I wish I had the $ to do the waterproofing and knowledge during that time.

How do you mount the deck boards over top of the framing of the deck? I have the waterproofing down but I thought screwing the boards down would compromise the waterproofing?

That’s what the tape over the top does- it seals the screws.

If this DR Decks is saying it’ll work I’m sure it’s a good system. Looks like it rains a lot wherever you’re at anyway so the system sounds like it hold up.

Hey Dr! I was just curious I build over here in South Dakota and I was wondering where do you buy your pond liner epdm stuff and what mill do you get? Just trying to be efficient.

Is it a dumb question to ask what is best bit to use to drive big deck screws? I’ve been using just cheap nut drivers from whatever cheap bit sets I have lying around. Should I be using some type of impact socket? Of course I use a high torque impact driver.

We don’t specify bits but often use @dewalt impact rated bits

Do you really think aluminum frame is going to stick around?

It's bugproof. It's more fire resistant. It doesn't rot. It doesn't mind getting wet. It's 100% recyclable. Seems like a great long term choice.
