When you say leave the housing up so the nearby fledgelings can scope out housing options, do you mean raised or just up as in out? We have a T14 and have it lowered now for maintenance and guard installation. Love these live Q&As!
I use an endoscope to disturb the nest as little as possible when checking nests.
