Punkrock Baby In 1921, the stretch of Wilshire Boulevard now known as the Miracle Mile was a 20-foot-wide dirt road, flanked by oil wells and barley fields. Today, the strip is a busy thoroughfare, home to museums, the La Brea Tar Pits, and a collection of historic Art Deco structures. The story of the Miracle Mile's stunning transformation from cow path to commercial artery - told through selected images from the region's photographic archives - is part of the larger narrative of L.A.'s decentralization, as electric railways and automobiles encouraged sprawl and drained the downtown retail district of its vitality.
Manson is so underrated. It's a shame people judge by his appearance and after all these years think of him because of the columbine shootings. Seeing him live for the first time this September.
Jody Burton Amazing! My mum has been listening to Manson ever since she was 16, and she still loves his music, even at 37. She also went to Leeds festival with her friends to see him live for the mechanical animals tour in 1998, and she obviously had a very nice time. I assume she also got to meet Manson and take a picture with him. So here I am, at 13 years old, and listening to his music.
Kelvin Vazquez That's some awesome stuff there. My mother has been listening to Manson since she was 16 years old, and like her, I also love Manson, even though I'm thirteen, and I became one of the Mansonites in October of last year. My mum's 37 now. She still loves his music, exactly how she loves me, her firstborn child. Marilyn Manson forever 💖

Mu girl left me on antidepressants and this is why I relate with this song so much. A pill to make her dumb, numb, anybody else.. and here I am standing, with my feelings, this song and a joint.
I played this song the day my mother passed away. She was a paranoid schizophrenic who tried so hard to become stable but unfortunately the pill she was given to treat her psychosis killed her as she developed TENS syndrome ( where the skin detaches from the body) so when he said she was bleeding like a Polaroid it really hit hard. Not to be a downer but this song really represents her. Rest easy mom...

Actually, if you read his biography "Long Hard Road Out of Hell" you will find that his grandmother was the one who was mentally ill, as well as his grandfather. He went to Catholic School till his family moved from Ohio to Florida, which is where he finished school. His father wrote childrens books and his mother was a home maker. He had gotten into trouble a lot when he was in Catholic School for not obidding by their rules. His grandmother would make him and his cousins kneel on broomsticks as a punishment for hours on end, his grandfather would lock himself in his basement and look at adult things. He had a very rough childhood but look what happens later on when we get older.
first off, he went to christian school, and his mother was the one who was mentally ill, his grandfather was-to put it Brian's own words-and odd character, the only 'illness' his grandfather had was his missing tracheotomy. and his father wasnt writing childrens books at that time, they moved because his father got a better job as as a furniture salsesmen in Florida. i have 'the Long Hard Road Out of Hell' ive read it hundreds of times so yeah..

I remember seeing him on August second... Good ass times. He played this song last, and I started crying my eyes out. This song has so much meaning. And I swear, I heard his voice shattering bit too.
+Harley Quinn What meaning, its just a hangover song, capturing the feeling of emptiness, thats all, for me, but i admit to not beeing particularly interested in his lyrics not as a teenager, not now and i am pretty sure he doesn't care about that aspect of his work as much either.
Max Power That's understandable. But he does. indeed, care about what he writes in music. I mean, it is his career, after all. Music is such a beautiful art form. Its an escape from reality. And even if there is no meaning, you give it a meaning. Which is why its such a beautiful art.
+Harley Quinn Maybe i don't even see him that much as a musician but a complete artist, i think he can and does put his personal mark on everything he touches and although i really don't follow him that closely i hope he continues reinventing himself in art, the music is well done and certainly has appeal but it doesn't touch me at all, his mannerisms though, his styles and poses keep creeping and amazing the piss out of me and are the thing i really appreciate about marilyn manson, i see you do too :)
Is it wrong to say Marilyn Manson actually have saved my life more Than once? All the times Where I was inches from giving up and giving in to the Pain, Manson would help me turn The Pain inside out, help me to let those tears flow and clean out my system.. The anger, the hate, the Feeling of never being good enough.. All that did Manson help me cope with.. As said, i honestly think I wouldnt be alive today, right now, if it wasnt for the music of Marilyn Manson.. He helped me when i had no one else (Least no one who could understand and relate to that pain)
Believe me we can ALL understand that pain especially the way our society is these days the Cancel Culture just totally invalidating, gaslighting, manipulating, alienating and bullying people for no reason... or just simply for money... The Education System being one of the worst cogs in the machine where people just go into teaching simply to invalidate kids, teens and adults of all ages, colors and religions, i just had about enough of The Education System myself especially after the last course i was in where i thought enough damage wasn't done to me in High School but noop... took an even darker turn where i've never felt so angry and used in my life... Teachers say things like "How do you know you're right when even i don't?" i'm sorry... Would you care to say that to my face again?, they watch you like hawk too to control HOW or What you do with everything you do... but refuse to teach you how to learn by yourself at home not even a single lesson on Note Taking cos they call it "A waste of time" just because everybody would write them the way they understand them, Colleges especially are increasingly controlling things by calling it "cheating" by allowing you to take your work home... giving you no chance away from them to have more time to properly learn things and improve on it thus allowing zero original thought, it's getting super bad out there. Then there's Social Media and how that's affected people it's like... anyone who claims they don't know how it feels are lying pieces of shit lol.
@@SortenRavn That is my point. If those guys listened to space girs they wouldn't even have mentioned it. Also, in the midst of such a tragedy, did you really believe that Manson's music pushed you to do that? It's really ridiculous. Instead of blaming the parents or the school, they took it upon themselves to dirty a musician. But anyway, that's the way the media is and at that time Marilyn was at the center of criticism.

IncorporatedOps Deep but spot on
Wait, Manson dedicated this to Jesus? I thought he didn't like him lol
Guy Manson maybe didnt believe in him, but the concept and what jesus believes in is what he probably did like
Pedro Mozer Oficial I believe the bible was created to make people misunderstand the world. That's why many Christians who read it are being deceived. All in all religion was created to control the weak minds, that way there is controversy amongst humanity.
Guy Manson he saw Jesus as the first superstar I don't know if he ever said he didn't like him

I'm not a Manson fan, but this has been one of my favorite songs the last 20+ years
I'm a big fan . I think Marilyn Manson is a visionary . His music is different and his videos are bold . There no artists like him these days and I think that we really need that. I really love him . But when I tell this to people , they think I'm a freak... Well, maybe I am.
+lena25 Freaks are cool :)
we are all freaks in some way
+lena25 Die Antwoord makes a different genre of music, but they are definitely bold and visionary. One of the best artists of these days in my opinion.
+lena25 if you like MM, you should check out The Pretty Reckless

And all too easily i'm afraid... especially The Media that only want you to fail for the next big headline story...

Man, Mechanical Animals was one, if not the most, original, creative, sentimental and truly artistic of Manson's eras...
Not the heaviest, but the most enjoyable in my oppinion
I agree. The whole story behind the album is intricate and well thought out.
Not that original. It was basically Bowies Ziggy Stardust.
At least he got quality influences
Thats because most of the songs where made by John and Twiggy, most of the bands best songs were made by these 2 or Daisy (and some Pogo too).

When this shit hits you deeply in your mindset.
Exactly, he chokes to death in the car.
I guess no one knew Heimlich maneuver back then.
OMG yes
Its a loose re-enactment of the Kennedy shooting, he's not choking.
+8b64z before JFK was hit directly in the skull, he took a bullet in the throat. He's reenacting it.
That actually happened though you can see it in the real JFK assassination video, a secret service agent runs up and jumps on to the back of the car.
Decades later and this kills me. He kills me. Perfection.

Just bleeding like a Polaroid that
Lost all her dolls

Yes! One amongst many. Check out Dax Riggs

He went to a christian school tho

Да ты сам Больной!
Whatever his childhood, I'm glad he is who he is today.
first off, he went to christian school, and his mother was the one who was mentally ill, his grandfather was-to put it Brian's own words-and odd character, the only 'illness' his grandfather had was his missing tracheotomy. and his father wasnt writing childrens books at that time, they moved because his father got a better job as as a furniture salsesmen in Florida. i have 'the Long Hard Road Out of Hell' ive read it hundreds of times so yeah..

He helped me when i had no one else
(Least no one who could understand and relate to that pain)
"But his music caused the Columbine massacre, his music is bad."
My stomach churns every time I remember how the news blamed Manson for that.
@@sebastiancampos7289 yea, imagine if it was said of Bach or Mozart
@@SortenRavn That is my point. If those guys listened to space girs they wouldn't even have mentioned it. Also, in the midst of such a tragedy, did you really believe that Manson's music pushed you to do that? It's really ridiculous.
