Tristan and Isolde -- Robert A. Johnson's "We"

This SophiaCycles video essay explores the myth of Tristan and Isolde, through the lens provided by Robert Johnson in his book, "We". This myth, Johnson argues, marks a shift in human consciousness with the removal of our longing for the divine and its projection into the field of human relationships. The impoverishment of our relationships because of that shift is worth examining.

Johnson argues that we must first get our own inner house in order before we can ever hope to have deep and meaningful relationships with other people. His books "HE" and "SHE" helps us understand what that works looks like. I have made two videos where I explore these works in part: the one on Parsifal [HE] and the one on Cupid and Psyche [SHE].
