Thanks again Francis. I only remember hearing a very few of these ever being played on the radio, I presume because most of them would be considered "flops". But I do like to look up the ones I find interesting and listen to the whole song!
Listening to most of these, I understand why they weren’t big hits… a handful were hits on R&B radio & charts….”Silly”, “All American Girls”, “Next Time You’ll Know”, “Make That Move”, “Fantastic Voyage”
Spider was such a cool group. They did the original versions of "Better Be Good To Me' (by Tina Turner) and 'Change' (by John Waite) because legendary 80's hit songwriter Holly Knight was in the group. They should have been bigger. Anton Fig from the David Letterman Show was also in the group.
Radio executives would have played those songs who knows. the top 10 RnB songs r largely the songs with the most commercial appeal. In the 80s that seem 2 change
1980 and 1981 were generally the boring years of the '80s . Super soft/ easy listening music New wave brought much needed shot of energy starting by 1982
I like the power pop era of the late 70s and early 80s. You can see, Knack, Producers, Fools, Flowers (Icehouse)... There is a lot you can pick up from these years.
1981 was a great year for music. But there are too many songs I've never heard of on this video. And just to let whoever has posted this video know, Supertramp's "Breakfast In America" was 1979.
True, however this song was still included in this list because Breakfast in America peaked at 62 (3 weeks) from 12-27 to 1-10-1981, for it didn't chart on the hot 100 until 12-13-1980. 12-13-1980 till 1-31-1981 was it's chart run.
@@loganclapp2940 That's the live version of this song that charted from December 13, 1980 to January 31, 1981. The live version of the song is from the live album, "Paris." The original studio recording of the song was 1979 which is from the album of the same name.
An interesting musical year, especially for rock music. I also find it very curious that many series like "Malcolm in the middle" use these melodies to set their scenes. Great video.
As a Brit I am well familiar with 'Fashion', 'Breakfast in America' and 'Wired For Sound'. If I had to sum most of these songs up in one picture though, it would be that awful album cover showing Anne Murray dressed in white on a cloud surrounded by cherubs.
Very interesting list, but I do not believe that " Magic Power" (Triumph), "Breakfast in America (Supertramp) and, most especially, "Limelight" (Rush) should be included on it.
@@johanvajse8410 I may be mistaken, but at the time I posted my comment the title of the video mentioned something like "forgotten songs" - which can actually still be seen in the video description. Irregardless of chart positions, I still stand by my comment. I am not sure why you have to call me out on this, but have a good day.

Very interisting very good the music felicitaciones y grscias totales 🎵🎧🎼🎼🎼👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
So many of these "flops" were actually hits on some radio and in the streets. Especially r&b top ten.
Mainstream rock, R&B, disco club play and local radio charts

urban hits for us urban ppl. NOT for everybody 😂❤🎉
Excellent job as always Francis! These songs really bring back memories!
WOW!Thanks for making me remember "Breaking Away" by Balance. Such a cool song.
"Love all the hurt away", a duet by Aretha Franklin & George Benson ...12:30... what a combination, what a song... should've been Top 20!!
Thanks For Sharing!

I remember some of these songs being played on local radio in NY, especially on the some of the smaller stations where they'll play anything.
I wish Shalamar (make that move), Chaka khan (what cha' gonna do for me) and Rupert Holmes (I don't need you) would have peaked the top 10 back then

Merci pour tes commentaires toujours très intéressants ;)
Wow. Icehouse in 1981?
Yep
Great 👏❤

I think some of these songs might gonna end up on random Diamond Axe Music videos.
David Bowie ❤️
A.K.A The Chamelleon.I must confess i'm adicted in music charts videos like this
To me the 80's didn't start until 1983. All these songs still had that 70's vibe to them.
Ah epoca otima com belissimas cancoes
Please do 1977 bottom hits.
Interesting
Not all forgotten ...
Greeeaaaaat!!!
"Breaking Away" by Balance actually made it into the top 30.
Yes, my bad. It's on volume 1 too

Best two songs are both by the same band "Lover" and "Falling in love again" by Michael Stanley Band. Both should have been huge
Very interesting list, but I do not believe that " Magic Power" (Triumph), "Breakfast in America (Supertramp) and, most especially, "Limelight" (Rush) should be included on it.
Thanks. However these songs only peaked between #50 and #100 at Billboard. That's why it's on the list ;)
how did you not get that from the title of the video? LOL
it has nothing to do with opinion and strictly where the songs placed in the charts

To be honest, I have never heard these songs.
I had only heard of or remember 10 of them
Tarney/Spencer !
American Memories! Talk about a Billboard scam...
