Thanks for putting up the video the sound is really good and it’s good to see a real person doing a demo rather then a guitar god because it’s closer to how a person who works for a live will sound 😎👍
Thanks for posting this! I’ve long wanted a semi-hollow ES 335 style guitar, but cannot afford a Gibson. I’ve been keep my eyes open for a Dot to show up, but now I am actively searching for one.
My Dot had the usual issues: wonky frets and a dark af 'under a blanket' sound. I put a Les Trem II on it and it came alive in a big way! I think its the shorter tail piece screws. Everything else is stock. I did refret it tho with Evo Gold, but it was still very playable with the 'wonky' frets. Its my #1 gig guitar now purely because it is so full and expressive in a mix an can carry a song on its own just through sheer presence. Best £125 I ever spent!!
@Dictum1 I got chrome, but only the bridge unit is plated. The arm is just raw nickel. Its also super thin plating and the grub screw marks when you adjust the arm. Don't tighten it up until you are 'sure'. Its real easy to chew up the screws if you use a too-small driver too. So take it easy there. Overall the trem is excellent once adjusted (get the arm angle and depth right and loosen the locknut underneath so the arm swings freely like on a strat), but I am really disappointed with the cheap plating and soft arm - at $65 it absolutely should be stainless steel! Still its half the price of a bigsby and works *really* well for a subtle vibrato. I mean its genuinely excellent. Perfect tension and it doesn't get in the way at all. Epic for 50's pop, country and spaced out reverb and Beck/Hendrix style flutters etc. The short screws really make the top pop by moving the vibration from deep in the center block to the top and has really improved the tone of my Dot a lot. Really snappy. Its fine with the standard bridge and tuners, just got to be aware that you are physically pivoting the bridge on big bends and over time that will cause the screws to become loose. If you intend to use it a lot, def get a cheap roller bridge. Oh, yeah, its tedious af to string up .. but what vibrato isn't. 👍
Nice demo, thanks. I’ve watched/listened to a bunch of “reviews” tonight which turned out to be more of the guys just trying to show their skills as opposed to showing the sonic range of this guitar. Got my eye on one, if I can just talk the guy down a few shekels…
mekkemusic però a quel prezzo non è semplice trovarla ;) comunque anche il prezzo del nuovo è contenuto, soprattutto pensando che l'originale Gibson in genere costa dieci volte o più 😂
Thanks for the review. The guitar sounded.. meh. Not warm and sustaining enough for blues/jazz and not thick and powerful enough for metal. Probably classic rock would be fine-ish on this guitar.

Thanks for watching my crap and taking the time to write what you wrote David

@Dictum1 Should be fine, your hand doesn't touch the plated parts. 👍
