Excellent video. But how did you turn off the maintenance light? At my break in. My dealership said they would not turn off the light without doing the oil change. I mentioned that I planned on doing the oil change and would be happy to pay for them to turn off the light. They said Ducati requires them to complete the service and they would dump my new oil and filter. So $500 oil change later, that’s how I got my maintenance light turned off.
About to change the oil on mine, i've been hearing it's best to do it cold on the v4 since it takes a while to drain back and get an accurate reading when warm. Have you been doing them all warm? I know on my other bikes i did em warm. also for anyone reading, the screws to push the cap out are m8 1.25 x 45mm
It depends, if I just finished riding then I’ll do it warm. Cold is the quickest since it has already been sitting in the pan. I usually plan a day solely for an oil change because of how long it takes for it to drain and refill correctly.
Been thinking of doing my own oil change for the winter. You recommend doing it at the end of the season or before the start? The bike is in winter sleep for 3/4 months orso.
There are good reasons for both, but I would prefer doing an oil change after winter. Any condensation after sitting for 4 months will just be in the old oil and get changed before riding.
When it’s on both stands it’s just as level as being on the ground. I agree that if you’re just using a back stand then it’s better to look while on the ground.
Good video helps me allot i gonne change my oil today 😊
I like your torque wrench :) Called experience

Thanks for saying the bolt size ! I’ve been looking all over !
Will you take it to the dealer to turn off the service light or do you turn it off yourself?

Usually best to measure oil level while bike is not on any type of stands. Did you measure it when the bike is on the ground and upright?

dont you have to put some oil on the new oil filter? or not for ducati?
If it’s a cartridge filter then no, usually pre-oiling the o-ring is for spin-on filters.
