    Idea: seven days of budgeted cooking battles. This will be a good way to give the judge the feeling of 'fatigue' from eating the same kind of ingredient more than once; using the same set of ingredients to cook different dishes will be important. Kind of like the Grocery shop battle.

    • @jeannetruman4380
      @jeannetruman4380 2 роки тому +61

      I think that would be a great idea!!! It's the food fatigue that's so hard to improvise around.😺

    • @hannahk1306

      Yes, then they could release them as a series so we can watch the progression as someone else has used an ingredient they were saving for a later day or a dish they were planning to reuse in a second dish has gone belly up. So they have to react to realistic situations.

    • @fredvieth2587
      @fredvieth2587 2 роки тому +10

      Give them 5, 10, whatever amount of pounds each day and they can use what they save later but must shop each "day" separately so they don't make one large dish and serve it repeatedly. Or do we allow them to risk it and save the same thing multiple days?

    • @Julyn

      Yes, like June Xie on the Delish youtube channel! She's great at taking one set of ingredients and making a new dish for every meal. I'd love to see more content around that idea.

      I have a fancy AEG steam oven that you need to press play on, but even that turns on after 10 second regardless. I wonder if it's because their oven has a timing setting so you can put an uncooked pie in and set it to turn on to be done for when you get home.

    I'd like to see you guys do a 30-minute cooking battle where the boys haven't had the food team's help and don't have the chance to prep parts of their dish overnight. The fridge is locked, the timer blows, it's unlocked and whatever is inside is what they have to use. I guess you'd call it a "Blind thirty-minute cooking battle" or something.

    The "succotash" is not succotash; that's just tomatoes and corn. Succotash is a combination of corn and beans (usually lima or butter beans, favas would've been a good substitute). You can add other ingredients, but it isn't succotash without the beans.

      While I've never seen it without beans, I think technically it can be called succotash as long as there is corn. Succotash is derived from "msickquatash," the Narragansett Indian term for a simmering pot of corn. Additional ingredients just depend on the season.

    Three very delicious looking plates. I'll gladly prepare either of them.
    My pick for first is Mike, because his dish is the most filling and also Jamie left a lot of his bread unused. Since he didn't give a use of the rest of the loaf of bread to me that count as waste.
    The bread-panada is a great idea. But I would use the whole slice by flattening it as Jamie did, and then cutting the bread diagonally and I get more from the same amount of money.

    • @ThePeaceluffer
      @ThePeaceluffer 2 роки тому +7

      well yes it was mentioned that stale bread can be turned into breadcrumbs, which could then even be fried off with herbs and kept sealed for a lovely seasoned crumb over lots of things without having to waste them. I don't really think the bread here was wasted, just not used fully in this recipe. You don't really need that much bread for the recipe either IMO, plus it looks nicer like this than a full slab of squished bread and they are trying to win and looks are a part of it.
