Used to live in Carlisle for 20 years and still live near. You definitely found the most dilapidated areas that it has to offer lol. Also, based off the rain and standing water from Hurricane Debby, you likely visited on 8/7, 8/8 or 8/9 when it was 90+ degrees with at least 90% humidity - credit to you as that was a BRUTAL stretch of weather. I hope you took a stroll downtown as it's a beautiful town with great shops and restaurants. Carlisle, and its surroundings, really is a great little area with TONS of history. The War Museum, a part of the Carlisle Barracks, sits right off interstate 81 and serves as a road trip landmark for many as it displays retired tanks, huey helicopters, and walkable bunkers and is well worth the free visit. The Barracks, the second oldest in the US, was a key supply headquarters during the revolutionary war. The old Carlisle Prison that was built in 1754 still stands in downtown Carlisle and serves as County office spaces. The town was also instrumental prior to the Civil War as it served as a station for the underground railroad. There are also massive car shows for just about any category one may be interested in and a plethora of space to hunt or fish, highlighted by the Yellow Breeches Creek, which is "world renown and rich with fly fishing history". Thanks for visiting and filming a place I love and great video as always!

Against my better judgement, I have decided to share with you a misadventure or two I had in Carlisle PA once upon a time in my long lost youth. Having lived in nearby York, I happened to make the acquaintance of a fellow from Carlisle --- who worked, actually, at one of the area motels which was at that time known as the Pleasant Inn. I am almost certain it is one of the rebranded establishments documented in your comprehensive overview of Carlisle --- quite possibly the Red Carpet Inn, or perhaps some other nearby single-story unit. I had occasion to spend a night at the Pleasant Inn, my Carlisle friend fixing me up with a room where I could hole up for the night with a man who would soon become my first "husband" (you see). It occurred to me sometime later that the room was made available in order that my Carlisle friend might spy on us, which indeed he would not have been above. It has been decades since I've been to Carlisle, but thanks to you, I now know it remains a hotbed of sordid activity. A lifestyle embraced by my Carlisle friend to a rather extreme extent, and I fell out of touch. He remained unabashedly tawdry in his pursuits, enthusiastically so, right up until his recent death, the details of which I do not know, and prefer to keep it that way. I watched your video in his honor, and hope you don't mind terribly that I've eulogized him here. Brian Philadelphia
I started driving 18 wheelers in the early 1990’s. I got to know Carlisle pretty well because that was our fuel stop. Lots of memories, most of them bad 🤣 Those little doors by the way in the Petro are showers for drivers. They are locked because you either have to pay for a shower, or have enough points from buying fuel to get a free shower.
These motels remind me of traveling in the 80’s with my family. I love these vintage places. I have watched videos about the abandoned old “honeymoon hotels” that had the heart shaped tubs and beds. I guess you are getting the tail end of Debbie. I live in coastal SC and it seemed like the storm stalled over us. I love your videos Dan! Your dog is so cute ❤

Dan, It looks like you may have picked Thursday night 8/8 for your overnight motel exploration. That was the night we got loads of rain from a hurricane coming through. I was home asleep listening to the sound of the rain against the side of the house. It sounded great. I recognize most of those motels. Didn't know those cabins were behind the Pike Motel. Glad you liked the Petro truck stop. I remember when they built it. It replaced the All American Travel Plaza. They used to own most of the truckstops along that road in the area.

Oh, and those doors in the Petro were once upon a time private phone booths before the days of cel phones.
You're a braver man than I Dan I'm from the area and drove past that Mature Fantasy store all the time growing up, when I was 18 some friends dared me to go in so I walked up with 2 buddies but turned back immediately at the door because of the strong and unpleasant smell, it's surreal seeing someone else stumble upon it lol
It’s a nice mixture of nut, ball must and chemical cleaners.
@@DaveBaked98 When we were kids we passed one on the way to the beach. On one of the circles. We’d scream out the window at guys coming out. My mom just laughed
@DanBellFilmIt I live like 5 minutes from the mature fantasy. You should hit me up for some tour of the sleezy areas!!!!! Love the videos!!!! I can tell you a lot about those places.
LOVED IT! Purrrfect way to start the weekend! The Wendy's exit sign at
Romeo and Juliet's store took me out!😹💀😹💀 Love ya Dan!❤
Dan, It looks like you may have picked Thursday night 8/8 for your overnight motel exploration. That was the night we got loads of rain from a hurricane coming through. I was home asleep listening to the sound of the rain against the side of the house. It sounded great. I recognize most of those motels. Didn't know those cabins were behind the Pike Motel. Glad you liked the Petro truck stop. I remember when they built it. It replaced the All American Travel Plaza. They used to own most of the truckstops along that road in the area.
Cool !
Looking forward to hanging out with you & everybody on the stream tomorrow night , also !
*Dan Bell Rules* 🖤
;-)
7:06 I loved that little canopy over the stairway, I have never seen that before!
Loved you singing Madonna to us!!
Yesss! I had to go listen to Madonna's Girlie Show version again when she mixed in "Just my Imagination" ua-cam.com/video/hlC6jlnU1IY/v-deo.html
Dan! You need to get the truck wrapped with your face and “IT’S DAN BELL” all over! Then everyone will know it’s you! 😂😂😂
I laughed out loud at the "buddy booth" moment, these are the sorts of moments that you just cannot make up.
Adore this series of vids. Thanks as always Dan.
ahh good ol runn down PA, reminds me of an area near me. I love these types of places...and love how you didnt judge or shame anyone who lived there. classic as always, come to beaver falls PA route 18 soon, similar places to this and people always joke about it being "hepatitis highway"
also, i work at a place similar to the fancy motel at night you saw. it has been fixed up and is really expensive now but still a ghost town
A roller coaster of emotional rain
You ought to see these joints when the lot lizards are out doing their thing. It's quite a sight. About 25 years ago I worked at the car dealership that was next to The Pike Hotel. Let's just say there was a ton of entertainment to watch.
Interesting factoid , James Osterburg ( IGGY ) from the band The STOOGES grew up in the exact model mobile home that is in the 'The Long long Trailer ' film ( Lucille Ball ), Iggy talks about it in the documentary ' Gimme Danger ' ( Stooges doc ) , very cool & funny documentary , also The STOOGES are GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT !! Thanks DAN !
Those places over in Carlisle PA do mega business weekends when the big car shows are happening.
I've been really loving these latest videos!
Wow… have not seen AC since back then, try to put it in my past. Hard to believe it was so long ago, 18 years. Still miss her, she was something special indeed. RIP
You've got to drive up Route 33 in the Shenandoah Valley. There's an ADORABLE place called Country View in Elkton -- a regular motel with little cabins too. Almost worth driving over the damn mountains again to visit.
Oh living in Carlisle and knowing where these are feels so weird to see in a video
Dan videos are always amazing. Also, those cabins!
What is that man doing? Driving thru...My Motel. With. His phone....Out. Filming. MY SHIT. 😂
Awesome video Dan! I thought the grounds of that first motel were very unusual. Also really cool truck stop!
I live in carlisle and bro you did the place sooo dirty i have never called someone out for there video being fake but your a first 😂
Down in Carlisle he loved a lady many years ago 🐢 🌹
Been watching for years. My fav thing to do is ride around and look at stuff so I eat these up. Also I live in south MS, we have trailer parks all over with those vintage trailers
Dan, you should do some videos on motels and mobile home parks here in Dayton, Ohio. There’s a lot of old vintage ones too. It’d be some good content, I promise!
Thanks Dan, your content is on fire lately 👌
Carlisle getting kinda close to what AUNT SOOKIE said was the Bruce Johnston old stompin' grounds. We all remember the john deere shenanagins an this an that.
Dan! Everything about this video was so great
Grew up in that area, have never looked back
