Thanks mate, that’s very kind. Yes not long now, just need the Diamantina River to drop so we can actually get out there🤦♂️. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Great job boys. Just check the QLD laws. In NSW and some other states it's illegal to carry unleaded fuel on the rear bar as its very flammable and in an impact zone. I have to carry fuel on my roof. Cheers Jim
Not sure of the legality but the cans will be empty all the way to Birdsville and filled up there. We then enter the desert directly from there and are off grid. The bikes will use 1.5 cans in the first day and the cars will be traveling 10-15km/hr max. This means weight peels off quickly, and stress is at a bare minimum due to speeds. This solution is perfect for our needs. Thanks for watching Jim.
Yes I am not sure on the legislation of 4wds, on my caravan rear Jerry rack and has a sticker water only no fuel ,van manufacturer's told me it was regulation.
Now listen Terry, are you absolutely positively sure you want to have a Nissan as a back up vehicle? 😉😂😂 But seriously, that’s some genuine Aussie fabrication work right there. Great work guys!
Jill will be driving the 200 so we have a recovery vehicle for the backup vehicle😉. Thanks for watching and commenting David, it’s great fun to interact. Cheers😎👍
NIce one gents. Such a great circle of friends you have. Can I drop by, and you guys help make me some mounting brackets for an OEM Toyota JDM Bumper Guard for my 80 Series Landcruiser. 😁 Looking forward to your Simpson Desert trip episodes.
Hi Terry and crew Bummer… that looks not like to write home about it… Guess you will get ride of it after the trip.. or sale it to SA… they will buy anything… Did I missed something here?? Did you not said to update on your daily 1 hour training rides as prep and loose weight?. Missed that part… Anyhow, wish a nice week Cheers
Weight, as I explained in the video, the Jerry’s will be empty all the way to Birdsville. We are then in the desert where the cars are doing 10-15km/hr. On the first day, the bikes will use 1.5 cans already. The solution is perfect for our needs and is designed specifically for this trip and for the bikes. As I also said in the video, Matt does not need 4 during his normal overlanding travel, he has long range tanks. A perfect solution for us in a very niche use that will be removed when we get back. Love it👍😎
Thanks Barry, I’m sure when we get off the bikes of an afternoon we’ll feel every bit of our age😉. We have a great group of mates, that’s for sure. Cheers😎👍
I was expecting you to put that steel plate on a diet Either taper the sides down to the middle or some big holes Sorry I hate weight if you can eliminate it Come on mate colour code it to the car 😉 Great work 👍
Hey Terry, nice to see you on the spanners again and preparing for your imminent Simpson trip. I wondered how you got around covering your tail lights behind the Jerry cans? Cheers
Thanks Daryl I appreciate that very much. The lights on the Nissan’s are actually inoperable as they do not comply with ADR’s so some bright spark at the factory has added additional lights in the rear bar located just under the swing away carrier itself. Cheers😎👍
The lights on the back of the Nissan are actually inoperable anyway as they don’t comply with ADR’s. This is why our patrols have their taillights down in the bumper.
Nice job boys, That should do the job nicely. Cheers Steve
It will indeed Steve, a very niche once off use perfect for our needs. Thanks for watching and commenting mate 👍😎
Good morning- matee. epic ~👋
Cheers mate😎👍
Nice work. Getting closer now. Good one!

Thanks Ian, as noted they are empty while on the main roads😎👍

Good decision to weld the new jerry can holders lower. This lowers the centre mass/gravity of the rack overall. Every bit helps.
It does indeed mate, thanks for watching and commenting😎👍

Thanks mate. There is nothing better than swinging on some spinners with your mates, just love it. Good luck with your 80 mate, fantastic rig😎👍
Ba Ha!! ............I was going to DARE YOU to paint it orange part way through, but I see you will have to think of something else now 🤣🤣
Indeed Rod, maybe I’ll sneak over to Matt’s place and paint his bullbar😂. Thanks for watching 😎👍

Thanks Holger, it will work perfect for our application. Training going well, just counting the days down now😎👍
Thats a lot of weight to be levering up and down on that spindle and arm. Would like to see a report on how it handles the corrugating and dunes….

Great work 👍
I did taper the sides down to the middle mate, yep weight trimming😎. Re colour, I did not want to put that much effort on Matt’s car😂😂

this Is a really good modifications!!
haha this is a huge trip ! that's cool ! 🤙😎
it's gotta be Saftey Orange Now !! 🚧🚧 lol
If you get a carrier for 4 cartons or beer, you reduce your need for water considerably, in my experience..........just a suggestion
I hear ya mate, but we built the carrier for the bike trip I mentioned and I have enough trouble staying upright on my bike without beer involved 😂👍
i would of carried a couple for you as i will be there in july
Unfortunately we are out there before you, but I would have taken you up in the offer Jim😉. Thanks for watching mate 😎👍
Yous going to big red bash?
No mate, way too many people for us. Cheers😎👍
How can those holders be legal when they block visibility of brake lights? Appears that the original carrier also blocks brake lights.
lights under on the bar.
Yep, there are lights on the bar itself. Cheers😎👍
The lights on the back of the Nissan are actually inoperable anyway as they don’t comply with ADR’s. This is why our patrols have their taillights down in the bumper.
That’s dead right Shane. Matt has actually hooked up his factor.y tail lights and you can see him from space when he taps the brakes😂😎👍
