If you read the instructions you will find you wrap the line around 3 times to stop it slipping and another thing you have the reel seat the wrong way round for a fixed spool real
@@graemearmstrong3388 I’ve yet to have an issue wrapping the line once around the barrel, and neither have the guys I know who use the cannon. It doesn’t matter which way round you position a reel seat….
Thousands of anglers use the Breakaway Cannon, it’s very effective. It doesn’t matter which way you face a reel seat, it’s down to personal preference.
Also makes a great hook point when moving rods

I recommend using glue-lined heat shrink tube rather than electrical tape for securing the cannon - it's neater, and more resistant to slipping.
I have used mine on top for a couple of year's now and find it better for me
Mine is mounted under ,so I use my idea finger , never had a problem 😊

I can see why it doesn't slip with a 80lb shock leader but with braid it would slip and be very dangerous

but i would never put the cannon on top
How can a tutor put the reel facing the butt. Some comments here opened my eyes , I confess.
@@truthfinder6999 It doesn’t make any difference which way around the reel seat is positioned on the rod. The reel is facing the tip, not the butt.
