In what became Lasha Talakhadze's first true heavy session here at the World Weightlifting Championships 2023 in Riyadh, he built up in the snatch to 210kg/462lb, a weight he hit for three singles. Never before have we seen him lift some much for so many repetitions. But, he looked nervous. Lasha and his whole team, including head coach Giorgi Asanidze, were on edge, anxious about the enormity of the session.

What an absolute savage. He makes the bar and plates look like a Fischer-Price toy.
Incredible seeing the respect he holds in the room...the number of lifters around him stopping their training to watch him speaks volumes
They know he won't be here forever. I was there for Usain Bolt, never missed a World/OLY race, even the heats, saw every DL I knew he was in and so on.
No regrets, I also saw Tiger at his peak way back (missed the 1997-2000 but saw the rest) - Never miss a current-time-legend!
People, enjoy Lasha, see it, live it, and talk about it when he retires and the next 25 yrs till another one comes by.
Knowing that Lasha is super shy, I wonder if the nerves were because of the crowd rather than the sessions intensity. He looks incredible right now!
I know I'm speculating here, but maybe he is planning on breaking the records again, and feels nervous since it's his last worlds and he won't get another chance
It might even give him advantage knowing so much people look at him lift
why last worlds @@o-neil
Olympics?
@@matejbrabec4024 he's getting old and there's been rumors that his last competition will be the Paris Olympics
Seeing Lasha lift is like seeing an artist at work. His body language is that of possibly one of the humblest world champions. I really like these training hall videos and Sebs commentary.
"Why do they give him a smaller thinner lighter bar isn't that unfair?" - my brain seeing Lasha warming up with the empty bar
😂
Dude muscle snatches 120kgs like its nothing 😭
@@rsanghi24 that one fucks me up more than the heavy weights honestly. Like 252 or 210 I have no real concept of, 120 I do, and it feels kinda heavy, seeing him just lazily *plup* it overhead without a care is mind bending.
@@rsanghi24 I front squat 120 like I’m dying
He moves an empty bar like me with a pvc pipe
I'm a fairly big guy. 6 foot 3 weighing about 250 lbs. I've been weight lifting for a couple of years now, and deadlift is my absolute best lift. To see him just throw my 1 rep max PR deadlift over his head and stand up with it is just surreal. I farted loudly, almost shit my pants and saw stars everywhere lifting those 210 kg off the ground!
😊
add another 150 lbs of muscle to your 250 to match his bodyweight and I think you'll be ok too compared to what you have now, of course :)
Yes but maybe you will live more years than him.
Every time I get to around 95% my 1rm I am praying I don't shit
Great vid and commentary! Having front row seats during Lasha's training session has to be legendary. p.s. the text on the last lift shows 240 instead of 252
I just love seeing everyone else in the hall just watching him.
Lasha is just ridiculously strong.
What an amazing athlete ❤
He's also on a ridiculously high amount of gear to get that strong.
they all are lol
@@Rawker101
@@Rawker101no gear he’d probably still snatch 180 which is still mad strong
@@Rawker101what are you even implying that the heaviest lifts ever done in history are less impressive bc he’s on gear. So are all your favorite lifters, and they haven’t come close , bonehead Lmfao
Lonely Rezazadeh was in same zone of strenght..... fo his shape with big heatlhe issue his 215/270 =485 (training ...212/263=475 in competition ) was miraculous. For info Lasha do 225/270=495 training and 225/267=492 in competition (but Lasha is Tall and Healthy with 8,5 inch wrists evidence of a monstruous frame.. Reza have a medium bone frame)
I went to Houston 2015 and I didn't know who Lasha was back then. I had access to the training room and suddenly I see this huge guy throwing around 170, 200kg as if they were empty bars. I was amazed. Seeing this huge guy moving so smoothly is mesmerizing. It's almost you could think those 200 kilos feel light, that these are not the same 200kg that you have at your gym :D
Watching him yeet weights I couldn't even budge
The most impressive thing is how fast he is under the bar at such a high bodyweight!
Lasha just casually warming up with my max snatch is incredible to watch
Solfrid watching Lasha is epic
We should all be thankful for living in the same age as this man
Let’s not exaggerate
@3pacz lol seriously
Easy now
53 years ago I saw the first 500 C&J. Now it's practically a warm up.
Wow worshiping another human? Tf he isnr that special
Blessed to see a legend lift in this lifetime.
He just never stops improving. Incredible!
It reminds me of Rezazedeh. Not nearly as pronounced, his form like a high school football player in the 90s. Lasha seemingly always had good form but you’re right it’s looking particularly sharp in this session.
I don’t think he’s improving anymore. He’s overtraining. He needs to throw up his absolute bests in competition ASAP, and call it a career. Time marches on.
Great genetics, talent, mindset and some really good apple juice are the building blocks for this man.
love this... much appreciated
Fantastic commentary Seb.
It’s fair to say we both have a fixation for this Goliath of a weightlifter.
I’ll never forget the training session from 2017-18 when a Lithuanian weightlifter was snatching and Lasha and his crew were waiting until the lift was completed until they joined the training session- and Lasha’s face just said it all. If you could put a caption to it- it would of said “ Is that all you can do mate?’
6:06 When other WR holders and Gold medalists are mirin you, there is without a doubt you are THE GOAT.
One of my favorite athletes in the world, Lasha is amazing!
Just incredible. Plus that power gut is amazing.
Loving the Norwegian fan club on the side there
What a beast, such an inspiration! :)
It's one thing to say he missed then hit 240 in a "training total". It's another to realize the what that means as in he went through the entire scale of warm up and hit a 210 snatch 3 times, then went through a whole other build up for the C&J to get to that 240. Also, I think your vid said his last lift was a 252 but the vid still says 240.
I’m gonna predict a 227 snatch and as seb said. Whatever he needs in the C&J to win, somewhere around the 250s
The fact that’s hes just playing safe instead of going to full potential with world records cannot be overstated
I think he'll break his records at Paris and total 500kg.
So not a 273 kg C&J? 😞
I agree, I suspect his plan will be go to Paris, win an easy gold. Get the 500kg total and become the undisputed greatest weightlifter ever
@@iielysiumx5811 Yeah this Worlds will be a tester for Paris! Go full grizzly bear in the Snatch, 215 - 220 - 227 and then 240 - 250 and take whatever he JUST needs to win the total and go home. Paris --> Repeat this plan.
Then arrange or wait for or train for a small but sanctioned event, best conditions, maybe at home, best food, sleep, training and go for
230-270 with 215 - 223 - 230 + 250-263-270 for 500, all in, then retire. Sadly I think he might only get the 230 and then miss 263 and 270 but retire happy anyways.
What a beast. And what an incredible form and technique for a man that huge. He is the GOAT.
This quality of this video is so good at points that it feels slightly 3D, like you, as the watcher, are really there in the room. (Watch it on a large screen.)
One of the strongest men who ever lived, a super athlete. Unbelievable, isn’t he the Greatest of all time,, his strength is hard to comprehend.
It's shocking to watch. It's like watching Ray Williams squat 490kg or Eddie and Thor deadlifting 500kg. You just can't wrap the mind around it.
В последнем подходе (7:48) написано, что Лаша толкает 240 кг. Хотя на самом деле на штанге стоит 250 кг.
Lasha is amazing, in a league of his own.
Fenomeno ❤❤❤🎉
I am most impressed by how he casually lifts up any weight for the first 50cm or so, seemingly no preparation needed at all, just like a bag of groceries instead of 200+kg
Mans truly amazing
I simply cannot comprehend this level of strength.
Congrats for 200k Subscribers🎉
Lasha appears to be a reasonably strong young man
I’ll admit, I love dude’s name. My next dog is going to be Lasha, no question. Wild lifting video. Technique is f*ing insane across the board.
Just shows how ridiculously incredible Ilya illyan personal best lifts were 191kg snatch and 246 kg C&J at 104kg body weight. As a 94kg lifter he did 242kg C&J .
He did 242 as a 105
Grandissimo Campione!
I think what impressed me the most is how he tossed around 100 kg so easily because I can grasp that weight better. That's my bench max now! Lol😂
Yeah baby!
I wish one day I can get daps from Giorgi.
The price of being the best in history!
I see Solfrid Koanda lifting next to him. I've seen her snatch 120kg confidently in training. Can't wait to see what she does on Friday.
Super technikue.
@weightliftinghouse guys at 07:36 it's 252kg not 240kg u forgot to modify it :3
Solfrid on the platform next to Lasha -- poetic. Thanks, guys.
Having deadlifted 240kg, I can't get my head around this at all. It almost seems superhuman.
It's the same thing as 400kg+ deadlifters, it's ridiculous
@@Lee-ic2yn , Lasha could train to deadlift 400kg+ but he would lose speed and momentum for snatch and C&J.
Lasha ia a living legend! Huge respect for the bloke! I know it's not his thing, but I'd love to see him in the Worlds Strongest Man one day, just to see what happens. Obviously strong man events are very specialised but it would be great to see!
Pov:you're from the uk
Indeed!
Now that's a weightlifter.
This dude is the same age as me.. And if only I could get half his strength,my life would've been so much better.
It's never to late to make yourself strong. You can be as half as strong as Lasha, just believe in yourself and never give up.
@@beliwinyourself3537 I only weigh 56kg, so I'm not so sure I can even be half as strong.. But thanks.
@@ryan2casey764Ok keep feeling sorry for yourself if you want, but no one on UA-cam really cares.
@@ryan2casey764 you can always gain some weight. You're probably young so its good time to start training
@@guswilliams9603 what part did I say I'm sorry for myself? Or you just projecting? And who told you to care to comment?
Magnificent specimen.
All eyez on me - lasha
Lasha "THE GREAT" 👌🏿!
He must genetically have a massive gut. Love watching this guys numbers
Where can I watch the whole thing? Thanks in advance
The one good thing about all the attention, is it comes close to replicating actual meet conditions.
strongest man alive
Im glad im not the only one who thinks he looks absolutely posessed right now. World records, and BIG ones, are inbound.
How many weeks I need train to lift this?
Samson's strength came from his hair. Lasha's from his belly.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Forget his strength for a second. He is just a huge mass of humanity! He makes the plates look small.
Cool seeing the Norwegian female lifter training next to him - she’s also a tank
You mentioned it i think on another video that he have some some concern about the knurling on the bar. Is it still something that might be bothering him?
💪💪💪
Team Norway loves Lasha 😝
MUTANT 🙏💪🙏💪🙏💪
Последний подъём был 252 кг, а не 240.
5:00 Lasha making my clean and jerk PR look like 40kg
I'd love to go in a gym and do that.
Did ZKC change the knurling on their barbells or release a new bar? This is far from the first world level competition to use ZKC equipment but it's the first time I've ever noticed several athletes constantly looking at their palms after a lift. It looked like multiple lifters had their hands wrapped up on the livestream yesterday as well.
Феномен!!!
Recordman Mundial de Halterofilia Absoluto🦁
Dude puts my DL PR (which I'm not ashamed of) over his head IN WARMUPS! :)
😥
Not a weightlifter but how long would that snatch and CJ session take in a typical workout? From warm ups til the last CJ? 1 hour?
You will get a wide variety of answers here based on the athletes experience-level, rest periods and amount of volume they need. So I'm being very general here and it obviously could easily be +/- 25%, but for just those two movements, 75-90 minutes is a fair average for someone with experience that does a proper warmup and a decent amount of volume.
Thanks, I power lift some but always wondered since some of the weightlifters may train twice a day sometimes.
@@DXT61 I actually came over from powerlifting, competed roughly 15 years, mostly USAPL back when it was under the IPF. Yeah weightlifting is very different training, which is wild since they are both barbell sports. I train more frequently, usually 5x per week and I squat more often, but honestly I feel like it's easier on my body overall. Powerlifting just left me feeling ground down, the constant heavy deadlifts and 'grinding' nature of the lifts. Weightlifting tends to be more dynamic and outside of heavy squats, I don't feel like I am grinding through lifts nearly as much. I can tell you this, if you ever decide to dabble in weightlifting, the strength you have from powerlifting will give you a great start, the bigger challenge is nailing down your technique on the snatch and C&J.
Do they ever sign and sell off the bars he uses in training? I mean in his trai ing footage he is hitting some of the biggest numbers, would be cool for a weightlifting club to have a bar used by the strongest of all time lifting some off the strongest lifts off all time
The 1 minute rest between each attempt during competition isn’t enough.
Маленький мальчик Лаша разминается ! ДСО Урожай.
“240kg is a light weight for him”-the ultimate compliment
When Lasha lifts heavy, everyone pays attention.
6:28 proves that Lasha is human
Seeing him warm up and barely use any effort lifting more than I can deadlift is insane.
I know this isn't the right video for this, but could someone tell me why Kuo Hsing-chun was stuck in Group C of the women's 59s? Maybe the lads discussed this somewhere in the 59s stream, but if so, I missed it. I'm GUESSING that she's been out of competition and has hence dropped in whatever ranking system they use to place lifters. (Also: She came in 4th, right?)
she wasn't going to lift as far as i know so was placed in the last group
what did he look like previous years?
At 7:44, isn't 240kg, but maybe 247kg?
3 462 lb. snatches.
🤯
Good.
It’s not like anyone is stopping him from working out with just his team and no onlookers any time he wants.
I just can't comprehend this dude strength..I can barely deadlift what he snatches 400-500lbs...
Georgian Genetik..Kalde Genetik,☝️☝️☝️🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
solfrid! :)
If Atlas needs a break he can call Lasha
Does he make the cross every lift even at home
I get the feeling that we will see 227 in the snatch for a new record and then a clean and jerk open that gets him a medal in the overall total, a second that gets him the gold in the overall, and a third clean and jerk attempt that gets him the gold in that lift. Maybe 227/255, 482 total? It all depends on how much the other lifters push him on the clean and jerk.
227/273.😁
As much as I am enjoying watching the stream / comp. They really need to do something about entering A lifters into lower sessions, it can make the main A sessions boring to watch. Part of growing the popularity of the sport is to make competition more intense and interesting to watch for the fans.
I hope this weightlifting thing works out for him
