Wikipedia has 16 references on which they based the information. I personally checked a couple of them to varify the information used in this video.
Imagine your big army getting slaughtered by a small force. What would that do to your morale you think? Besides, the Tatars had no idea how many Poles were still able to fight. Not even to mention the famed reputation of the winged Hussars at that time which further damaged the morale of the enemy army.
In regard to what they used, they used Tatar arrows, rocks and small stuff from the village as ammunition.
My video's are not meant to be fully detailed. They are meant to discuss the main topic and make people curious about the smaller details of said battles.
@@iPostiPodiEatiYuri Well if you can't beat 400 stong detatchment how the fuck would they dream to defeat main polish army that eventualy would come at them ?. It makes a lot of sense to abbandon campaing after such poor beggining.

I wouldn't call hodów the Polish Thermopylae, I would call Termopylae the Greek hodów
Actuslly since it was a victory and not a last stand it shouldn't be called thermopylae.

Numbers might be a bit off, who knows, because it's now virtually legendary. But let's not pretend this was anything but a victory over a vastly superior force. At least, numerically.
So 40k tatars charged. only 1500 died and they retreated? They could've just yeeted all of them at the 400 defenders and steamrolled em like the night kinds army at Winterfell.
But i guess it was the logical decision to make because had they faced the main polish army then there would surely be insanely large losses on the tatars.
The Poles were barricaded in a village, wearing heavy Armor and equipped with 'modern' weaponry, presumably with only a few spots that the tartars could enter; Even if all of them ran at the entrances at the same time, only around.. What? 100 of them can engage at a time. If 40,000 people lined up to try to siege, they'd literally make a wall of bodies from where they'd get slaughtered by the defenders.
Now, let's say that they did that; They'd succeed eventually.
Counted that the Polish king doesn't go "Hm, I haven't heard back from that small department I sent to Hodow a few days ago, let's send 100 more."
I mean, I guess this is what would be a 'Stale mate'. The Poles couldn't win that fight; But they wouldn't have lost what ever happens.
No one wins, no one loses, no one can make a move. Simple as that.
Except it wasn't winterfell or movie neither. Real people were dying and piles of corpses were growing up each wave. Imagine how terrifying effect it had on the Tatars and theirs morale. They probably though exactly what you said, we'll run on them and our horses will trample them. Then happend that.

Hey, man! So kind of you to ask how I'm doing! I'm trying to get back into it, but my new study (and other things) have had their impact I'm affraid. The new video I was preparing is half-way done, and will be about another famous Slavic battle. I also did some work on a small music video, which will probably be uploaded first (this week/next week).
