At about 16 minutes that sculpture of the woman in front of the council offices, with the plants in front of it leading down to two children used to have fountains and a water cascade. A few years ago this was filled with earth and the plants. When I was there last Tuesday the plants and earth have been removed and the fountain nozzles can be seen again. I don’t know if they’re reinstating the water feature; there was a small amount of water in the basin, but I think that was just from rain. When I arrive in Birmingham at Moor Street Station I walk up Carr’s Lane, then follow your route up Union Street but instead of turning into Corporation Street I cross over it, go straight ahead and get lunch from the jacket potato lady. Very good, and good value. I carry on and eat it on one of the seats around the Cathedral, then go left into Colmore Row to Victoria Square, then Centenary Square and the library. There’s another potato van seen in your video in New Street, but all of the ones, and shops which sold jacket potato’s in London seem to have gone. This part of the city, and down New Street, normally sees the German Christmas Market from mid November to a couple of days before Christmas Day, but did not take place this year due to the virus. A great city, but just about anywhere is better than London. I also like to visit Bradford and Middlesbrough, but could not go this year. Maybe this virus will have gone by next year.

@sanjay j Let's be respectful mate. I don't think that London is the best city in the UK. I'd say it's Edinburgh. But I love London as well. It's just too big for me.
After London and Liverpool docks, Birmingham was the most heavily bombed City during WW2. This greatly contributed to the city having to build quickly and cheaply which resulted in badly thought out buildings, layout ,and infrastructure which, given the need to function following the aftermath of the war is understandable. There's a lot more to see that wasn't included in this excellent video (Jewellery Quarter, Colmore Business District. Peace Gardens, Five Ways, Broad Street, Digbeth, Eastside) I was born and grew up in Birmingham and yes it has its faults but the regeneration and the future plans for Birmingham have created an incredible City both in terms of architecture, restaurants (5 Michelin Star restaurants), pedestrian friendly, excellent transport links, arts, museums to name a few. More parks than equivalent size cities anywhere in Europe. More trees than Paris and as a city (which is often maligned by people who've never visited) it is improving year on year. I love my city and am very proud of it. Again. What a great video. Many thanks.
@zayne Mal Where do you get these fantasies from mate, you are definitely not a Brummie and fantasize on Birmingham Bashing, I suggest you come and visit Birmingham and see it in real life and you will find it is a very green modern rebuilt cosmopolitan City with no more crime than any where else in the world and definitely hasn't got any poverty and is definitely not a Dump which I take a deep offence to zayne Mal, Just carry on being a silly troll.

I've lived in Manchester, in Birmingham and in Liverpool. You can't compare those by size in favour of Manchester or Liverpool. Birmingham is definitely bigger.
Birmingham is the Second Largest City in the UK after London and has as many tourist spots in and around Birmingham such as Cadbury world, the Headquarters / Aquarium d the Sea life organisation, the world famous Jewellery Quarter, it's famous Museum and Art Gallery, more mile of Canals than either Venice or Amsterdam, Sarehole Mill in Hall Green where JR Tolkien got his inspiration for Lord of The Rings from, Aston Hall a famous Jacobean House in Aston next door to Villa park, the NEC, The National Motor Bike Museum on its border with Solihull, the Famous Bullring and Grand Central shopping Malls, the Commonwealth games in 2022, it has more greenery such as parks than any other City in Europe, it has the biggest German Christmas Market outside Germany, it is close to Stratford on Avon, Warwick, Kenelworth and Dudley Castles, the Severn valley Railway, West Midlands Safari Park so yes Birmingham Does have as much to offer tourists as any other UK City. Plus have you done a poll of how many visitors have visited these cities, doubt it.
I got jumped down here at 51:56 what memories!!!!!!! they bashed my skull into the wall lmao xD I had to get sent to the emergency room lol, miss those donnys proper lads
I am a Birmingham Citizen and can tell you Birmingham is not boring as per my comment above to@Neo, it is a very cosmopolitan, modern and multi cultural City.
I know Birmingham does not have a good reputation. Is it because the City is considered ugly, there were serious problems with crime or it was both things?
Is more because of race and religion, my dad lives in Birmingham and he always says the indian, bangladesh and pakistani communities are big in Birmingham compared to other UK cities and majority of them are Muslims thats the reason the city breeds alot of hate even though is developing very fast
@@shoelacetherapper3026Go to London has the biggest asian and black community because London is the city where all nationalities go to first and many have settled there and after that is Liverpool as London and Liverpool is where many blacks came in as Birmingham doesn't have a port .
xion2, since when does Birmingham not have a good reputation, only in your mind, since when has Birmingham been considered Ugly, by who, have you bothered to visit Birmingham if you did you would see a very modern cosmopolitan City, but alas NO you have not visited Birmingham but you make up a stupid comment on something you know nothing about and just want to bash Birmingham with out proof, when you live in Birmingham people like your self who know nothing of Birmingham realy get on your nerves.
Birmingham is not that much of a attractive city, its only being developed and has suffered years of cut backs and austerity and is only living with the times very dated city with a lot of a industrial feel. Go to outskirts areas and they are not nice very run down and segregated. Birmingham is a very segregated city go to areas people are divided no social cohesion.
Look who it is the guy with 15 alt accounts hating on Birmingham again. Mate seek mental health support, being this obsessed with a city isn't good for your health and the fact you make multiple accounts tells me you're not okay.
Oh Brian, you are barking up the same tree as all the other Brummie bashers, Birmingham now is a very attractive City, it has been totally rebuilt, the only back to back slums are owned as a Museum by the National Trust, it has more greenery per population than any other City in Europe, it is the UK's second largest City after London, it is no more segregated than any other city in the UK such as London and Manchester and we are very social, Brummies are one of the Friendliest group of people in the UK, we have learnt to live together as Birmingham has welcomed Irish, Welsh, Jewish, Indian, West Indian and Muslim people into our Great City for Decades, the only people that do not mix are the ones that do not want to and they are usually a minority of Asian population. We are so easy going that after the Birmingham Bombings in the early 1970's, the Irish immigrant community in Birmingham thought they would be picked on, instead we forgave them as it was not the Irish community of Birmingham that did it, it was the IRA. I am a proud Brummie who will stand up for Birmingham no matter what and I come from a long past, on my father's side they came from Shrewsbury and moved to Birmingham in the 1800's for work, on my Mothers side, she came from London with her family routes emanating from Ireland, so yes Brum is a multiracial, diverse friendly modern City, so Brian you are either a disgruntled Brummie talking a load of crap or a person who thinks he knows about Birmingham but doesn't live in Birmingham or knows anything about it and the closest you have got to Birmingham is on these videos or watching Peaky Blinders which by the way is not filmed in Birmingham at all.
@@peterwilliamallen1063 Birmingham is not multicultural its segregated and areas are not integrated at all people live seperate lives even locals are segregating in areas and some have moved out, asian muslims have thier areas and whites have thier own segregated areas the problem is many are in denial of the segregation and racism in birmingham and west Midlands.

Would be nice to have an English translation on an English subject.

Let's wait locals to answer as I personally enjoyed the city.
Hate Crime Bad
The damage of post-war modernist dogmas and post-industrialisation finally seem to fade away...

Thank you for watching and your opinion. I was a tourist for only a half of a day there, so I enjoyed the city a lot ;-)
Look who it is the guy with 15 alt accounts hating on Birmingham again. Mate seek mental health support, being this obsessed with a city isn't good for your health and the fact you make multiple accounts tells me you're not okay.
Guys let's be respectful
